Why didn't I own this for bub number one?
Love it, love it, love it! I never considered a baby carrier with bub number one (as they were expensive and I didn't know anything about them), but she wanted to be carried all of the time and my arms were forever aching. Just before bub two was born, I was lucky enough to win an ErgoBaby Performance carrier - and life with a baby changed completely.
No more pushing a pram with one hand, juggling the baby with the other and somehow managing to carry shopping. No more screaming bub in the pram. With the infant insert, bub can be in the Ergo...Read more
from birth, snuggled close to mum and fast asleep. My bub is now 9 months old and people say she is the happiest baby that they have met - because she always has her Mum close by. Just starting to experiment with the back carry for as she gets bigger. I can't live without this now - it is my essential piece of baby equipment! Contented, sleeping babySimilar opinion? Love it
We got this for going interstate for use at the airport and it was great, we didn't you a pram the the whole time we were away. I'm only a small frame person and it was comfortable to wear, your hips take a lot of the weight. I have only used it as a front carrier so far and my baby is 7 months and she will fall asleep in this but not in her pram. I tend take a layer off if she's in it as she can get warm. I got the grey which is a nice colour and the fabric is a lot nicer than the canvas style. It's great for running into the shops because it's quicker than getting the pram out and you have full use of both hands plus it has a zip pocket to put your money in.
Comfortable, secure and baby loves it
It is quite expensive but worth it

Excellent baby carrier
I have been using my Ergo Performance since my bub was 7 months old, he is now 19 months and I still use it daily. It distributes the weight very evenly, because it has a hip belt to carry some of the weight it doesn't hurt my shoulders at all. Can't recommend this highly enough. I really couldn't live without this.
comfortable, easy to use for back carrying

Great carrier, both for baby and parent
The ergo baby performance is a fantastic carrier. From it's sturdy design, akin to a good backpack (with wide hip belt, firm but comfortable shoulder straps and good quality buckles) to the versatility for front/side/back positions, it ticked all the boxes. I (my wife uses the sport because her torso was too short for the performance) have been using it with our twins from 3.5kg using the infant insert. I had read some negative reviews re the insert and dare say any problem is likely user rather than product related, because once the bub is in...Read more
position it is perfect. I haven't come across another carrier where the baby is held so well in place even when you bend to pick things up. Over heating hasn't been a problem even though it looks bulky. You have to get the bottom cushion position right, but that's just a matter of practice. Very sturdy and comfortable to wear over several hours. Infant insert works very well. Bulky, but that's what makes it sturdy. The buckle between the shoulder straps is impossible to reach.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Lightweight and comfortable too
I didnt think that the difference in weight would be significant as compared to the normal ergobaby but it is huge! It is the difference between the carrier fitting into my handbag (it now does!) or being left behind (always regretted). I can and do now take it everywhere because we don't get hot using it and it just takes the edge of babies grumps. Our little angel is 8mo and we've had the normal ergo since birth and the performance for a fortnight (as we had to return the normal one to the lender). He hasnt slept in either carrier since he wa...Read more
s 5 months old, but then we havent used it during sleep times to try. We mainly use it for up to an hour walk or around the house to calm him down if he's overtired as he is then quiet enough to go to sleep. I use it between 4 and 5pm sometimes if he is feeling whiney and I just want to get the cooking done/washing in. He is safe and secure on my back and very comfortable there for both of us sturdy, comfortable, easy to adjust, easy to throw him in after a few goes, he is lulled to calmness immediately when placed on my back he lols his head back in it sometimes think we just need to adjust it a little better for him.Similar opinion? Another great Ergo carrier
I got the lime green colour and it looks fab! Its very light, much more breathable but carries my heavy toddler well. There is a knack to using the backpack by one self, so best to do some practise getting it on or off to prevent any accidents. Also, if shoulders are hurting, like I found once, it means its not on right and needs adjusting. Weight should be on hips. It is normal, though, to feel some weight in shoulders after a while especially with a heavy toddler like I have! But it shouldn't be painful.
Compared to the original, there is le...Read more

So easy to use.
This carrier is lightweight, easy to use and comfortable. It has some features like the sunshade hood which has it's own pocket. A small pocket on the front great for phone, keys and bankcard. It can be worn on the front, back or hip (tho I haven't tried the hip).
The only faults are the part you wear around your waist is quite long and gets in the way if you sit or bend.
Also the material around the baby's head makes it hard for younger babies to look around and the large shoulder straps rub on their face.
Lightweight, easy to use, comfortable for your back.
Doesn't seem as comfortable for younger babies as some other carriers.

Excellent, highly recommended
I purchased this carrier so I could take my baby with me when I took my dog for his hour walk. I have found it very comfortable, lightweight and bubs falls asleep without any fuss. I love the fact that once bubs gets a bit bigger I can wear the carrier on my back without having to purchase another carrier. To date, I can't fault it.
Lightweight, breathable, attached sunshade, good quality, comfortable

I cant find a fault! My baby who finds it hard to sleep falls asleep straight away in back or front position.
Everything - comfort, light-weight material...and the fact that my baby sleeps in it!

Questions & Answers
Jesseasked
What would happen if you did face your child outwords in the ergo baby original?

Karrie H.Ergobaby
Hi Jesse, Thanks for contacting us to find out the correct information on facing baby outwards. Facing baby outwards in the Ergobaby Original is not recommended at all. The Ergobaby Original carriers are only 3 position carriers and they aren't designed to support a baby in an outward facing position. The structure of the carrier simply doesn't allow for it. Facing baby outwards in the Ergobaby Original will put baby's hips in a compromised position. The baby will sit too wide in the seat pushing their legs too far apart which in turn will put undue pressure on their hips. We definitely advise NOT to face baby outwards in the Ergobaby Original.
If you are looking for a carrier in which baby can face outwards, please look at our Ergobaby 360 range. These are the only Ergobaby carriers which will support baby in the correct ergonomic position whilst facing outwards.
I hope this has helped answer your question. Thanks again for contacting us via Product Review.

Hi, we are going to travel overseas and most likely will be carrying our 2.5 up she is 10 kg. We are wondering which ergo carrier will be best for the job. Any recommendation? Thanks in advance

Hi Slina
Thankyou for getting in touch with us and for choosing an Ergobaby Carrier for your overseas travel adventures. What an exciting time for you and your family!
For travelling, and given the weight of your child now, I would suggest our Cool Air Adapt Carrier. This carrier will take up to 20kgs in weight which means you will get maximum use out of the carrier as your 2.5 year old grows. The Cool Air Adapt is made from the same fabric as Nike and Lorna Jane use in their activewear - it's basically designed to keep yourself and bub cool in warmer months whilst you are wearing the carrier. The other thing I love about this carrier for travel is that the type of fabric it is made out of is very comfortable for older babies whether you need it for warmer weather or not. The Adapt is a 3 position carrier meaning you can carry her on front facing toward you, on your hip and on your back. At 2.5 years of age the back carry becomes a popular choice both parents and child - it's fun and comfortable.
I hope that this has helped with your decision. Have fun on your travels!

Which style has the best back support for the carrier? I'm looking at 360 or performance
3 answers
Honestly I'm not sure. I only really tried the Performance. When I looked at the fabrics the 360 seemed like it would be quite warm (I bought it in summer in Brisbane). But most stores are happy for you to try it on and put your baby in it (however that's not an option if the baby hasn't been born yet). The 360 let's you put the baby on the front and facing outwards and you can't do that with the Performance. The Performance you can wear on your back, hip, or front (all of which, the baby needs to be facing into your body and not outwards).
Overall the 360 is thicker in padding on shoulder hence feels more supportive than performance. Performance has higher weight carrying capacities of 20kg though.
Babes in Arms E.Ergobaby
The ergobaby 360 carrier has a wrap around waist band which many people find offers superior support. This carrier offers the baby a facing outwards carry position.
The ergobaby performance carrier has dense foam shoulders which are curved more like a hiking pack, which some people prefer. This carrier has mesh lining.
Both are really comfortable. Both are designed to have the load of the baby carried on the hips and not on your back or shoulders. Both are great carriers!
