FORCE

We purchased the Force BBQ with an Orange Hood from a local store before xmas and also bought the cover, before even using it, the cover had become stuck to the Hood to the extent that we could not remove the cover from the Hood. Our local store confirmed this has happened elsewhere but could not answer if it was from the hood melting the cover or the cover melting onto the hood! They have now replaced the hood and cover with another Orange hood, is there an inherent problem with Orange or was it a bad batch, hood or cover?

Yea, I read about your problem, I was curious to see if anyone else had the problem I had we have still not used it and waiting for Harvey Norman to confirm its not going to happen to the new hood, hoping the Everdure will comment

FORCE

Hi. I have had the BBQ for a week now and used it a few times. Love it but when roasting with the hood down and the left hand (grill plate) on low and the roast on the roasting trivet which I put on the right hand side (solid plate) with the burner off, the temp in the force will not go below 210C-220C. This makes slow roasting impossible. Can this be fixed somehow. Also the fist time I closed the lid and heated up the BBQ as per the instructions, the right hand side of the hood stuck to the chassis. Turns out the paint had melted slightly which has now left a visible paint defect on the hood. Thanks

I would like to cook a roast on my Force gas barbeque. I read that only one side needs to be lit and that was under the grill side. The other side, I have a solid plate, is it ok to put the roast on a roasting rack, on this plate? Or do I have to purchase a 2nd grill plate?

Your first answer is correct. You light the grill side, and place your roasting rack on the flatplate side. Works well, I did a roast on the weekend :-)

Is it ok to cook meat on two plates rather than the grill? And can you purchase another plate, and if so how much will it cost.

You can purchase a spare plate, I believe (check with the Everdure By Heston website) but you cannot use two plates at the one time. It will not allow for enough ventilation apparently.

You will get better results from the grill plate anyway.

FORCE HBG2M (Blue)

I am seriously considering purchasing,, is their a guarantee that the body will not crack or flack, and is it guaranteed against the power coat fading.

1 answer
Everdure by Heston Blumenthal
Alexis P.Everdure by Heston Blumenthal

Good afternoon,
Thank you for your enquiry, with regards to guarantee on fading panels and cracked bodies to the Heston Force BBQ.
These issues tend to be related to poor maintenance and being exposed to a harsh environment (sun and rain) over an extended period of time, also some chemical compounds used in cleaning products can damage powder coating.
The product has been independently tested so as to comply with Australian and New Zealand standards and is number certified as such prior to release on the market.
Dedicated Heston cleaning products have been produced and various generic homemade cleaners can be recommended, it is also recommended the product have a vinyl BBQ cover and be stored under cover where possible, regular maintenance is also recommended as with any new product.
Hope this helps with your decision. The team at Everdure by Heston Blumenthal.

Hi Pam, there wasn't any heat under the unit and you would have to read the instructions regarding the connection of natural gas, i do remember reading something regarding not being able to do that

Hi Pam, there is no problem with downward heat, and the feet are big enough to allow airflow between the bbq body and the table. This barbeque has been built to be able to sit on a table, Everdure themselves say so. That's why there are feet on it :-)

A natural gas conversion kit is available at extra cost.

Thanks so much but if you can help with another question, can you get one without the cart? Am wanting to just sit on an outside bench and am trying to get the dimensions of the unit without cart, can you help? I appreciate your responses to date

Yes, the actual unit has some little feet to allow it to sit straight on a bench. When you put the unit onto the stand, those little feet tuck away inside the stand.

Can I cook a roast in the 2 burner?

Hi, I quite often close the lid but usually for a short period, however, I couldn't see why you wouldn't have any dramas roasting on the two burner,as there is a good air flow over the burners and therefore no buildup if the lid is closed....Regards...Greg

I did some roast pork in my Force last night! You will need some sort of rack to allow airflow around the meat. A roast cooks via indirect heat, so put it over the burner that is unlit. When the temperature gets to what you need, turn the lit burner down to lowest and that will maintain the temperature. It will take longer than your fan-forced electric oven but the end result will be great.

Absolutely you can. It’s a portable bbq on short legs that sit inside the stand. I’d opt for a stainless steel or aluminium front panel in front of the legs so you can lower the bbq area to line up with the bench... pretty easy to do.

We purchased the force model last November and ordered the accompanying conversion kit from Aplliances Online. I’ve been trying to organise a plumber in Victoria to connect to our gas tap on balcony but I’m having difficulties as the plumbers I’ve contacted so they don’t do conversion of bbqs in Victoria. Any ideas how we can get this working?

Hi Damster, because it’s raining here today and I’ve got nothing to do, I spoke to the Master Plumbers Association of Victoria this morning. They have a website called https://plumber.com.au/find-a-plumber and if you enter the type of plumber you want, your postcode and a distance in km’s for the search it will come up with a list. Some have a description of the services they offer.
The Master Plumbers advised that this is the tool that they always use when answering this question as they can’t specifically recommend a plumber.
I really hope this helps you in some way.
All the best.

Do I need to season the cast iron grills before use, and do you have a recommended method?

1 answer

Hi Jerome,

Yes, we recommend lightly seasoning the grills with canola / vegetable oil (before and after each use)

We also recommend preheating before each use, with hood down and burners on high until the BBQ reaches around 200C.

I recently purchased the Heston Blumenthal Force (pretty blue) and cooked a leg of pork without much luck

I couldn't get the temperature down from 200 deg, even on low. The pork was over cooked and dry and the skin wouldn't crackle. I prepared the skin correctly.

Any tips you could pass on?

Last time I cooked a roast I had the burners on the left with the flat plate turned on. The burners on the right where I had the roast (on a roasting rack) with the grill plate I had turned off. Seemed to work okay. My BBQ heats up a lot quicker than any other I have had and took a little to get use to initially.
