Meets my requirements
Have only used it so far to dry my Chilies and it did a great job. Took two days, which was a lot longer than the instructions suggested but it was filled chokka with chillies. They turned out very dry and with all the flavour and heat intact. The dehydrator functioned as would be expected, and whilst some prior reviews I had read suggested it was noisy, I decided to place it in the garage. Not required! It's about as noisy as a toaster, maybe I'm lucky? Was intending to give it a flogging this summer with tomatoes, and fruit but with all the rain to date, I'll be lucky to get anything out of my water logged garden!! Anyway so far so good.

Impressive machine
The D902SHD is a heavy unit. With heavy stainless steel mesh trays, stainless steel lid and side panel, it looks and feels solid.
One of the trays was faulty in the box - the vendor replaced immediately.
The 9 trays can take a significant amount of food on board, and drying seems to be quite even. The noise level is more or less like a small fan heater.

The difference between the standard Excalibur Dehydrators and the D902SHD is that it has a double wall effect with the stainless steel exterior inserts which can dry up to a third faster than the polycarbonate casings. The stainless steel trays are a benefit for high production as they are dishwasher friendly and there is no need for the polyscreens that are used in the standard models. You also receive a free copy of the Preserve It Naturally book.
