Fiat ducato 6 speed when go from neutral to drive it fick back to neutral so vehicle can't move can anyone help
Yes I had the same problem with the 2022 Fiat Ducato that we hired. It would slip out of gear and go into limp mode, where the vehicle would just stop in the middle of the road when turning corners, o...
Read morer going through roundabouts. On one occasion going up hill, it just stopped, fortunately with all the traffic behind us, I was able to coast into a small layby. which can be quite rare to find on our roads. Panic and anxiety set in, with safety issues a problem. Of course the hire company deflected the blame to all but themselves. My problem is that these vehicles are UNSAFE, and should not be on the road, intervention by the appropriate authorities should be a priority. They are accidents just waiting to happen.I bought a brand new Fiat Ducato last year from Apollo Motorhomes in Adelaide . The gearbox was clunky and kept dropping out into neutral. At Seymour it decided to stay in neutral. I rang Apollo many ...
Read moretimes to ask if they had a repairer in Melbourne. I was told to find my own and stop ringing them. Also was told no roadside assist as "it is fully imported ". aren't they all ? With my own roadside assist from RAA which I have had for years the motor home was taken to Melbourne for repairs. My top coverage only paid $300 out of $1,000 for the tow truck. A Fiat repairer in Dandenong who I found by ringing around fixed "the gearbox problem" That was under warranty. Apparently quite common in these. No problems since then. Never will I deal with Apollo again. All very nice until the money was in their hot little hands, then goodbye and don't annoy us.If the fault cannot be found and the Motorhome is not fit for purpose, can I get Fiat to return it to the Agent I bought it from, and get my money back?
It appears not, In addition, Consumer Laws are vague as to how long you must wait for a resolution . The ACCC under LNP rules / ministerial leadership is hopeless .....There is no specific time Fi...
Read moreat or anyone else for that matter must take to provide a satisfactory resolution for you .... It would help consumer confidence greatly & perhaps even increase sales with large & small investments if the law stipulated a week or similar for resolution of ANY problems. This would mean action or immediate refund is forthcoming . As it happened with us, our Fiat was waiting for a booking (a week ) then parked in the Fiat Professional Service Facility waiting for action at a time when THEY decided it was appropriate .... Of course the definition is "We're working on it " becomes the catch phrase .... Which in our case was over a week . This resolution failed and so the stress & nonsense goes on ..... another week we had to wait for another failed resolution .... Finally we took the Fiat to another Fiat Professional Service Outlet ....Another wait !!!. But success ! The process so far in N$W took 5 weeks for FULL resolution.... It will take some time before we trust our Vehicle though ...What have we learn't ? We will never deal with an Australian Auto Mega dealer again .... A Mega dealer is a Family Company with multiple Vehicle Make Dealerships.... There are lots in N$W & the only people they benefit are the Family owners .... everyone else involved is miserable ...including their staff ... unless yr new vehicle is fault free ...My Motorhome is just a year old,12.000km. From the start I did not like the gearbox, it was very jumpy changing gears, at times it could not decide which gear to use so would chop and change before it selected the one it liked, also when it was cold the motor would rev up if you stopped at a crossing.
Recently it has shown a more serious fault, going into limp mode when the vehicle slows for a crossing or round about.
The dealer cannot replicate the problem, what are my options if this cannot be fixed. It is dangerous to drive.
Yes, these things happened to us in our rental 2022 Fiat Ducato recently. There was 14500km on the clock. Driving out of the yard it started into limp mode, although at that stage we had no idea what ...
Read morewas really happening and maybe it was our own fault we just didn't understand the vehicle?? Driving into our driveway, the van stopped, on restarting it jumped forward, without any prompting, causing some damage. We were on a ten day holiday of a lifetime, Experiencing constant stopping of the vehicle especially when slowing to go going around corners, at turns and going through roundabouts. Dangerous and unsafe. Contacting the company we were told to locate a switch by the glove box, there was none, then told to turn the motor off for ten minutes and start again. This was to be the norm every day, with Intermittent stops, Along a particular beachfront there are a series of roundabouts, it stopped at each one, frustrated drivers behind us. the last straw was when we crossed a highway, with oncoming traffic at a distance, when the vehicle stopped in the middle of the road! Three days in, we eventually had enough of the dangerous nature of the vehicle, putting us at risk, where we felt unsafe, and it had taken an emotional toll when we couldn't enjoy the planned holiday. We contacted the company telling them we would not be driving their dangerous vehicle any further, to pick it up. We hired a rental car and returned to our home. The company were protecting their own, while making it about us and our driving, they deflected the blame, and surprise surprise they had no problems driving the vehicle seven hours back to base. They did say they took the van into the Fiat dealership who upon checking said there had been problems but seemed to have settled. On doing online research we found that this was a commonplace occurrence with these vans, the owners frustrated at the way the vehicles went into limp mode constantly, spending thousands of dollars to try and fix the fault, not to their complete satisfaction apparently. One of the problems is that around the 15,000km mark thats when the problems really start. Our hire van was on 14500. Rather than let it slide, I'm taking the company to the local courts. Why? Because these kinds of vehicles are accidents waiting to happen. With many coming into New Zealand from European countries, and foisted onto unsuspecting road users. We had been wanting to purchase our own motorhome at some stage. After our experience with the Fiat Ducato 2022, we know what not to buy. I would urge anyone who is thinking of buying one of these, don't waste your money and time. Check out the online reviews, makes for interesting reading, and avoidance.

Thank you again. My 2005 Fiat Ducato 2.8 JTD motorhome normally starts first time but occasionally just turns over and over. Usually starts eventually but one time it cut out whilst driving, wouldn't restart and had to be towed. The mechanic said he checked everything he could and finally got it started but hadn't found any specific fault. The starting problem still occurs occasionally but the engine starts eventually. Battery is good but starter screeches occasionally whilst trying to engage. Has anyone had a similar problem and been able to find a solution.
It may be the cam timing sensor needs to be spaced up by adding 2 washers under the bracket and then adjust it with 1mm gap to the raised part on the cam pulley.

Stalling in the middle of the road with on coming traffic bearing down. Unsafe, dangerous and life threatening. Researching online reviews, showed that it was not an isolated problem with this particular model. With a tendency to start showing problems around the 15000km mark. Long story short, it was all our fault! We should have...could have... We lost a lot of money in the process. My concern is that hundreds of these vehicles are coming into the country, and how many of them are safe? Hubby says let it go, I say and what of the safety factors of these particular models that may end up costing the unwary, their lives?I am looking to buy privately a Fiat Ducato maxi camper van, manuel, 2014, 76,000kms. I'm reading a variety of bad reviews about these vans, mainly about automatics. Is there a serial problem with these vans? Is it only automatics that are a problem? Could this manuel be a good buy?
The manual is better. They still have clutch issues .ie clutch plate fails. Concentric slave fails .it would be cheaper to fix. Dont pay too much
Thanks John, much appreciated. Any price suggestions? He's asking $45,000.
And do you know at what mileage I could have those problems? And last question, would I get it fixed and find parts in some random around Australia place?

I had a crash in my 2014 ducato van. The insurance company is now Investigating it because at some point a mechenic has drilled about 10 holes in the stainless intake pipe. Does anyone know what the reason for doing this is. Is it a cheap fix for a common problem in this model? Thanks Ben
Hey I'm not sure exactly. They just said intake pipe and sent me a photo of it. (My display pic is the photo they sent)
