Washing Machines Buying Guide
Our buying guide will explain which type of washing machine would suit you most, how much you can expect to pay for one, and which features are worth looking out for.
Mine is Model GW52-F so I don't know if I'm in the right place to write a review
Fisher & Paykel told me it is 24-25 years old. I inherited it and it was as though the much younger Haier I was using had been upgraded. How, I wondered, could changing washing machines make my washday seem so much easier? But it sure did, partly because of its much quicker wash cycle. It is also much easier on the clothes than the Haier was and it takes out more water. I am dreading the day this machine breaks down on me in a way that means it can't be mended. (But I'll be pestering the hell out of Fisher & Paykel to do it, that's for sure.) T...Read more
hey just don't make them half-decent any more! What is the matter with manufacturers these days? Their machines should be so much better, not worse. Fridges and freezers, washing machines, cake mixers (just about every appliance you can think of) are mostly rubbish.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great machine, still reliable since 2003.
I purchased the GW512 in 2003, and it is still running to this day. I have been luckier than some of the other reviewers that have had issues with balance and issues with nil operation or noises, I suppose, as I have not experienced these at all, it runs as if it's new, and is used on full loads a couple of times a week.
I have moved from state to state dozens of times, being in the military, and only one time did the PCB have to be reset into it's position as one of the moves dislodged it, and the led lights where out of alignment, which the removal companies insurance fixed the next day, and I don't blame Fisher and Paykel for.
Over all it has great features, looks good, and washes very well. Very happy with this machine..

Will not spin nor empty rinse sounds like an empty dump truck ..... frustrating
Bought second hand was in storage two years prior. Agitator needed clean grime inside darkish and underneath. Worked well for 12 plus months. Stopped before spin cycle, water pump working ? Dismantled machine removed bowl and cleaned grey green slime from bowl with high pressure hose pump works had to clean much from pump cover and outer bowl yuck !! Can get to spin empty but cuts out. Used full hot with vinegar and baking soda.
Very good one touch preprogram was vg wash spin
Pump faults are very common parts are very expensive

I think sometimes Fisher & Paykel gets a mad rap at being a cheapo company. Well our machine was well priced and is also a good machine. We haven't had any problems with it in the last 3 or 4 years that we've had it. It always does a good job of getting the clothes clean. It has lots of different cycles to use and I really like the water saver cycle especially when we are on level 6 water restrictions! I like the beeps that tell you when the wash is done and also the option to delay the cycle which is handy if you want it freshly washed and ready to hang out at a particular time. Overall, highly recommend this washer!
GW512: Good machine

Good
This has been a great washer, better than any other I have had. It's quiet which is always a blessing. It has several button features but I've probably only used a fraction of them.
GW512: Good price and quiet and uses less power and water
Wish I had got a front loader, they are easier to fit in certain places.

Excellent
This is a great washing machine with water saving options by using automatic water fill. It washes very clean and spin dries exceptionally well. The more gentle cyles are great for woolens and delicates. I would thoroughly reccommend this machine to all. It works so silently compared to my last washing machine which could be heard all over the unit. Well done Fisher and Paykel
GW512: I love the ease of selecting the different wash cyles and spin actions with the push of a button, also the movement of the tub as the water is filling.
I havn't found anything I dislike. I only wish I had purchased it sooner.

Terrible
the washing machine worked well in the beginning but then the problems started appearing! the control boxes were repaired once under warrenty after much insisting. In its three years of life We have had to have it repaired 4 times and the parts cost an absolute fortune. I should have replaced it at least two years ago as it has been a constant source of trouble where you need to turn this push that and do a backflip just to reset it! I'll never buy a fisher & paykle washing machine again!
GW512: looked good, good features
repaired and replaced nearly all control circuits at great expense!
