Poor Design and Expensive Pyrolytic First Use
The oven seemed to work ok for the first year or two. However on the first pyrolytic clean it failed. The overheating thermo switch at the rear of the oven failed and as a result the main circuit board appears to have failed as well. The thermo switch failure caused the oven door to lock closed and the oven to completely stop working. The door could only be unlocked by removing the oven completely and dismantling the unit to trace the fault. Unfortunately the oven was one month out of the two year warranty. Experience with F&P warranty (not thi...Read more
s oven) in the past has been very poor. The thermo switch is about $8, but I've yet to price the main circuit board, but would expect around $300 or more. The oven may be OK for general cooking, haven't tried the rotisserie yet, but I think it is an expensive and poor design compared to say Bosh.Purchased in April 2021 for A$3,200.00.

Great oven, just love it.Tested the temperature and it is correct. So easy to read,no silly little signs to follow, lights up,easy to use and even clean!
Recommended it to sister and she bought the 7 option model and she is not so enthralled with that

PCD Board fried at 21/5 years old
Fourth Pyrolytic clean and blacked the house out. It blew the fuse out on the street and had to call Energex to restore power.
Suncorp will not insure as it is a computer failure not motor fusion.
I was on hold to F&P for 45 mins waiting for customer support only to be told they can send out a technician out at a cost of $210.
Bad product over priced and poor build. Will go for European model with a better warranty.

Oven is ok but manufacturer service is atrocious
Advertised as a 900 wide oven but because the control panel is on the side it's narrow for a "900 wide" oven so some of the oven dishes that we used in our old oven don't fit.
Build quality is cheap and the metal rack bent which had to be replaced. getting F & P on the phone takes a long time and then they send out technicians without parts so they always have to come back. Their service sucks so I won't buy again.
Purchased in March 2021.

Garbage. Do not buy
Was sold a 900mm oven after the sales rep told me it has the Bluetooth probe functionality. Wasn't until after it was installed ($1250 for heavy duty cabling & new fuse) that we discover that only the 600mm oven has this feature.
2yrs on and we finally use the Pyrolytic function for the first time. Door gets stuck closed and costs 190 for a callout.
Callout fixes stuck door by disconnecting so this feature no longer works.
Now oven does not heat up at all.
Can't cook anything with temperatures below 30 deg. YouTube of this is available at https://youtu.be/3sjVE-gz5io

worst oven I have ever had
This oven is without a doubt the worst oven I have ever had. It is 18 months old and we have had it replaced once already, the replacement oven is no better. The oven not only drops in temp it will not roast anything, instead the oven fills with steam and stews everything . we have not been able to roast anything since buying this oven . This oven makes me not even want to cook anymore, its so bad.
Purchased in October 2021.

Enamel of internal bottom all cracked
After self cleaning the oven on Pyrolytic program noticed the internal oven bottom enamel all getting cracked. Contacted Fisher & Paykel to send a technician to look at it, they refused to send someone and i been told if I want a tech to come for inspection I have to pay for the visit when the oven is still under warranty. I did insisted that they have to send someone and I won’t pay a cent for the inspection otherwise I will contact consumers affairs, when I mentioned consumers affairs Fisher & Paykel decided to send a technician to inspect th...Read more
e oven. The technician took some photos as he been advised by his boss and when we talked about it he agreed that it is poor quality enamel. The outcome from technical department was that we doing the wrong thing and blaming us that we put a tray/dish at the bottom while cooking or self cleaning which we never did put anything at the bottom, all racks are suspended and never put anything on the bottom.Similar opinion? I will never touch Fisher & Paykel products again
I bought a top of the range oven in 2014 and we were renovating the kitchen. I couldn't install a kitchen till 10 months later and just recently in the past a couple of months the product has failed and have a major failure. The oven is no turning on at all, I called Fisher and Paykel and explained to them the item shouldn't stop completely after 3 years especially when you pay top dollars for this item, the after sales service is extremely unhelpful and not willing to help at all.

I cant believe an expensive oven has a major component failure
When I bought my new house this Fisher and Paykel big oven was in it .The oven is a bit over 7 years old but looks like its hardly been used. From my research New it was around $2,500 . Miele sell ovens for that amount of money ! Its alot of money for an oven . Seeing most ovens sell under $1,000. You'd expect paying that sort of money it would run for at least 10 years without a problem . Recently it started playing up - it would heat up sometimes and not others . Got a technician out and he told me the power module was faulty . Cost to r...Read more

Love it, so simple to use
Although once the oven was installed I was a bit angry that the manual told you so little about how to cook with it, once I had a go at using it and trying the different settings, it really is so easy to use that you dont need a manual.
I've read other review that complain about the time to preheat, I think it is really quick. I've cooked a variety of food from usesing the rotisserie to cooking cakes and pavlova and everything has worked out beautiful. So happy I bought the 90cm version, great for grills for a few more than 2 people and great for cooking roask veg and meet side by side

Worst oven I've had
I had the X1 model of this exact oven and absolutely loved it over and above all the European models I have had but this one is awful. The setting I love to use most is the fan setting, but they have programmed the grill to come on to help the oven heat up faster, so I can't have anything in the oven unless it is at full temperature. Not so great if you open the door to add things into the oven and it loses its temperature mid cook. Nor if you use the pre-programming function and leave something (obviously not proteins!) in the oven to be fi...Read more
nished cooking at a time to suit me. Nowhere in the brochures or the sales spiels does it tell you this! All they can tell me is that I should not be using this function for what I m doing even though I have been using this function on every other oven I have ever had previously (Ariston, Ilve, Bosch and Fischer & Paykel). I tried cooking on the settings they have and it did not translate well! Also the oven takes FOREVER to cool down after it has been turned off so the fan is going for up to an hour afterwards. This did not happen in my previous model. If anyone wants to buy a relatively new oven at a reduced price, please get in contact as I am selling this oven!Similar opinion? Best oven ever!
This is the best oven I have used, and after 45 years in the kitchen, I have used quite a few, including all the European brands. I bought it about a month before Christmas, so the real test was the pavlova: cooked perfectly to the minute. Everything I have cooked so far (haven't tried the rotisserie) has been recipe perfect, including gluten free recipes that in the old oven were hit and miss.
The well lit display doesn't require me to find my glasses to read the cooking method; there is no ambiguity with tiny pictures, just a brilliant choice of cooking methods with an easy turn dial, so no pressing combinations of buttons. So quiet you hardly know it is on, except for the cockpit standard display!
I can't fault it; just love it!!

Wouldn't bother with pyrolytic again
Installed this oven as part of our kitchen renovation, thinking that the big self cleaning machine would be worth the extra money. Had to get the electricians to run heavier cable back to the fuse box$$$, upgrade the fuse$ and isolation switch$ to comply with the ovens energy usage. It does cook well, but the digital display is like something from Knight Rider (for anyone old enough to remember David Hasselhoff). Thank god it cleans itself. All I have to do is remove the massive oven racks and clean them. And remove the rails that hold the...Read more
oven racks, and clean them. And remove the front door, and seperate the 4 large sheets of oven glass, and clean them. And after that, I just reassemble the heavy front door, pop it back on the oven, and program the pyrolytic function to take care of rest. Four hours later, I can just wipe the dust from the 5 walls of the oven, and she's clean. Too easy.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Amazing oven
We are so happy with the choice of oven. It costs a little more but the benefits out weight the $$. Easy for preheat, cooks everything brilliantly. And friggin easy to clean. Love it. Haven’t tried the self cleaning element as yet but cannot wait. Highly recommend the purchase. And to think HN was best price.

Excellent oven
Love the pyrolytic function but was disappointed oven racks have to be washed separately, so cleaning the oven still takes time!
Layers of glass on door are fiddly to pull apart and clean.
Having said that, everything I have cooked has turned out perfectly and I love the preset temps with different cooking functions.

I'm no chef, but love this oven
Absolutely happy, we have had this oven for almost 12 months. There are a lot of different settings to use when cooking IE Bake, Fan bake, pastry, grill, fan forced etc. Love the space, we can cook 2 pizzas on the same rack. The kids love making pizzas when friends visit. Grills meat well on top rack. Our most common option we use is Fan Forced, as we are busy and heat quite a lot of meals. Top rack tends to cook faster, so keep your meat on top and veges on bottom. Haven't tried the cleaning function yet....

I have the MEPX1
but as this is the upgraded model it can only be even better right? I LOVE my oven and I am a serious cook. I specifically wanted a 90cm but there are so few on the market and the ones that are didn't get very good reviews. The F&P products did. I fit a sucking pig on the rotisserie for xmas lunch and it came out spectacular! It is so easy to use and being pyrolitic easy to keep clean. I can have veggies baking on the top rack and a cake or other dessert baking below strangely with no transfer of flavour or either being affected adversely.

Does the job well!
We had some difficulty finding a 90cm oven in a reasonable price range to replace the Omega oven (which was very basic) in our recently purchased house. This was because we were told that 90cm ovens are no longer popular and one of my major pre-requisites was for a pyrolytic after having an AEG 60cm pyrolytic in my previous home which was just great. Unfortunately AEG do not make a 90cm oven.
So a Fisher & Paykel oven made in Italy was purchased from Harvey Norman, Albury in August 2016 but due to the popularity of this model and awaiting ...Read more
a new shipment, it was not installed until late September. At first I had some problems with believing the oven actually knew better than me with the number of settings it has for various cooking modes! But in time, I have come to trust the settings and obviously one can adjust the temperature presets either up or down. For instance, the pastry setting is superb even though I tried several other settings first, believing I knew best. :)) But pastry cooked on the recommended setting is cooked superbly well. The oven looks beautiful, sleek and elegant, the functions light up like a cockpit and it heats up very quickly. The only downside (thus far) is just how quiet the timer is. It's totally ridiculous actually and just unnecessarily quiet. You never hear the timer if you have a radio or TV on. Fortunately it starts blinking as well, when the time is up, but by the time you see that, your food could be ruined if one is not watchful. Also, the timer needs to be "confirmed" twice at time of setting, which takes a while to get used to. Firstly when you press the timer function, and then again when you set what time you want. In my opinion, these are unnecessary stresses to inflict upon the cook when it would have been just as easy to put a timer on that was of a reasonable volume and simpler to use e.g. set time and wait for the "ding" rather than having to "confirm" that you actually want to use the timer function and then again when you set the timer.Similar opinion? A very spacious and simple oven to use
I am happy with this oven. It is spacious. It has nine functions including a pyrolytic cleaning function and a rotisserie - the other functions range from grilling to various kinds of baking. The temperatures are accurate, it heats quickly and the fan ensures that there are no hotspots. The grill heat is easy to control with a dial from 1-10. The door is cool as it contains four layers of glass and there is a child lock to stop young children operating it. What I love best is the simplicity of the two dials. One sets the function and the other ...Read more
sets the temperature. It is so easy to use. The oven also has preset cooking functions should you wish to set and forget, and a heat venting system to keep the oven cool in it's cavity so that internal space can be maximised. Be aware the oven cools by venting heat out the front of the oven, and after cooking, the cooling fan, which is a little bit noisy, stays on a long time. The oven has a pyrolytic cleaning function which I probably will never use as this function on all brands and models seems to present locking problems which can only be fixed by a service agent. Update: I used it twice and it locked the second time - requiring a service agent to remove the oven completely and replace the timer at the back. Luckily it was still under warranty otherwise it would have been an expensive repair. If I were buying this oven again I would probably get the same oven without the pyrolytic function. But other than that, I can't fault this oven. I love it. I am disappointed F&P don't add the internal meat probe to this 90cm model as they do with 60cm and 75cm ones. It is the feature I used most in the two narrower models which I have owned in other houses.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
