Great Fridge
All in all this is a great fridge, spacious, well thought through, even temperature and I think is a very stylish design. The fridge is relatively quiet, and we have owned this for 3 years with no problems.
The water filler is great, as it does not take up any fridge space unlike most other fridge designs. The ice maker and scoop is also a really well designed and reliable functioning feature.
The only negative is the drawer runners, which seem to get stiff and seize up before fully extending. Apart from this minor issue its a great fridge

Great features but don't expect it to last forever
Purchased as a factory second in October 2008.
Functions really well and has plenty of space for everything. Easy to clean. No problems as such but now in early 2018 stopped making ice with error code F24 and constant beeping.
I've just paid $253 to fix, not replace, a broken wire, which apparently very common with this fridge. Note - we only connected to water 6 years ago.
The technician says the motor is noisy and if anything breaks down not to fix it as it will cost too much. They're not made to last and I'm lucky, apparently, that it's lasted for 10 years.
** I still have my 29 year old Hoover/Admiral fridge which has never skipped a beat!

Avoid at all cost
Absolute pile of rubbish, didn’t last eighteen months before the dreaded F20 fault appeared. It returns to haunt me every twelve months or so, we got it in 2011 so that’s a lot of faults for the same problem.
I would expect better from a $2599 fridge. Should have bought another Electrolux, as the one I have that is now my second fridge that the pile of rubbish F&P replaced still works fine, never had an issue and I bought it in 2000 and it cost half as much.
I will never buy Fisher and Paykel again, they don’t deserve any more of my money.
Hope this helps if you are thinking of buying a F& P 610 French door fridge.

Great fridge space, poor electrical design
We had this fridge for 6 years with no issues and were happy with the space in the fridge and it's features. However, over the past 18 months we have had endless issues with an f20 fault which is the a wiring issue in the top of the door joints. We had it repaired once but not long after the fault reappeared. We checked the wiring in both doors and could not find any broken wires to repair. After a while the light would come on and off and noticed the fridge temperature being not as cold as it should have been. At times an F30 fault would appea...Read more
r. Again we called a repair man who told us that the motherboard needed replacing along with a couple of other parts. A call to Fisher and Paykel was a waste of time - after a lot of questions they said that as it was no longer under warranty they would not help. We expected that a fridge that cost $3000+ we hoped to get at least 10 years out of it and are very disappointed in Fisher and Paykel's build quality and lack of service for what is obviously a design fault.Similar opinion? Love fridge but loads of problems!
I love the fridge, great size, easy to clean, good design.. but since the start we've had issues!
Not long after we got it the door locks snapped off.. still usable so not a huge issue. Then after a few years the freezer drawer tracks have rusted (technician said they've never seen this before and suggested we get it replaced under warranty!) F&P wouldn't relace and shifted me off to extended warranty team, who told me it was F&Ps issue.. no one has fixed and got the run around! The freezer completely defrosted. Technician couldn't find the pr...Read more

Not a good fridge. Never buy one again
Fixed under warranty 3 times within 2 years. then another 2 times after that .door hinge wiring...shocking design. F17 fault continues intermittently.
3 years later same fault. Would not get one again.
Now freezer icing up. Not sure what sort of fault that is.
Bottom freezer really is not a good design. We will buy side by side only now

Love it - best fridge I've owned!
Love this French door fridge / freezer with water and ice maker! It is spacious, easy to clean, quiet & looks great. I initially bought it over others because the ice maker was unobtrusive compared to others at the time (2007). Also I've owned 4 fridges over 35 years and this is the best of all!! Everything about the RF610A has worked perfectly from day one and is still going strong after more than 9 years. I'm impressed with the service from F&P. Only one service call when the fridge was 9 yrs old to repair a broken wire which stopped the ice maker - F&P were prompt and fixed the issues with minimal fuss and cost. What i love best about this F&P RF610a is that it keeps food beautifully fresh and food lasts a very good length of time.

Good fridge for 3 years till multiple issues. Service is disgraceful.
Bought Sept 12. Had 3 different problems between Feb 16 and May16 (out of warranty). F&P only book service online, and with first available booking almost a week away, I used a local AHA licensed technician who could be there the same day. First issue (earth leakage caused by defrost heater) cost $260, second "mullion heater" cost $245, and was quoted $300 for the latest issue (faulty wire inside fridge door).
Called F&P complaining that a fridge less than 4 years old should not have repair costs in the vicinity of 1/3 of the purchase price...Read more
. F&P were completely unwilling to help because we hadn't used their technician for the other problems. Only offered to send out their technician (min cost $135) to assess the fridge to see if something could be done. The local technician we used to be a F&P approved repairer, but F&P changed their repairs to a franchise system, and the technician did not take up the franchise (apparently nobody local did because the F&P service person is an employee of F&P, not a business/franchise). I consider the requirement that you only use their own technicians unconscionable, particularly when you call on a Friday and can't get a technician until the following Thursday. Still unresolved.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Bad customer services, fridge retired after less than 5 yrs of used
Fridge has a good decent size for big family but don't expect it to last long after reading thru all the reviews.
4.9 years and broke two days ago. Call up the F&P support they ask plenty of questions and in the end told me that the are no technician available from their system to booking and asked me to try call other repairer in your area using Yellowpages.
Found a repair man and he had a look at it and it was probably a leak somewhere and noticed some corrosion.
Will cost about $400 - $500 to filled up and more to open up to find the exact location of the leak.

Broke down as soon as warranty expired - terrible response time from F&P
Spent $3,000 plus on this fridge thinking it may last 5 - 10 yrs. It just broke down last week - just outside the warranty period (2YRS). Electrician said possibly motor gone. F&P service people cant get to it for a week - big inconvenience with daily food prep. Already had once serviced under warranty within days of installation. Lets see what they can do now.

Worked for a while...
We've had the fridge for about 7-8 years. Has been fixed once within the warranty period. A fortnight ago stopped working. Called for F&P to check. Told repairs would cost $750-$850 - gas leak. Thanks, but no thanks. Will go back to my 16-year-old Westinghouse fridge. We had a good run I guess.

Complete rubbish with bad service
Both bottom plastic door closers broke off. Ice maker malfunctioned twice. Door wiring on both sides replaced and now getting f20 error message appearing again. Whoever did the industrial design on the door wiring components needs to think again. We purchased this expecting a quality product, the reality however was far from it. By the sound of what many other owners are discussing, the realiability of this product is poor. I could not recommend this product to my worst enemy.

Don't get the water option
In my ignorance at the store I said yes to the water option. I was unaware that the filters need to be changed every six months and they cost a small fortune. Very opportunistic move F&P. This combined with our dodgey condenser dryer - I'm starting to be a little underwhelmed by what has been in the past, above average products.

Full of problems
In last 7 years the icemaker needed repair thrice and again not working. Ice becomes lumpy. Once the handles came off. Otherwise the space is quite good with ample trays and baskets. I read other reviews stating ice maker has consistent problem with lot of people. Costly to maintain this fridge due to repeated service requirements.

Generally Ok
We found this fridge pricey but performance was okay. Some nice features such as cooling a bottle of wine quickly was handy. We did have intermittent issues with the unit continuously bleeping when you opened the door and even the F&P service folks were a little dumbfounded. Be careful of the closing hooks that sit below the doors - they break after about three years and then the door does not close properly. You pay $140 for call out fee and parts to get the issue rectified. However online booking for service was a plus for me as it was easy and you were not put on hold and did not bounce around from people to people.

Stay away from this fridge model
Got a 6 year old fridge, been having problems from day one. Started with loud motor in the first year. Some minor repair was made to solve problem. But once warranty run out other problems started. Water running out from freezer on regular basis due to reccurent pipe blockage. Thats _$ 150 per technician visit. Company refuse to aknowledge that its design/manufacture problem since its out of waranty period.
clearly it is!!!!! Fisher Pykel -never again!

I hate this fridge
Worst Fridge I have had the misfortune to ever own. Water never cold and ice never freezes. I was told by the tech that I had the freezer to cold for the ice to freeze but any lower and the ice cream melts. I buy ice and tip it into the tray. Fridge is on 18 months old and I hate it!!
Looked nice

n't set it too cold or the ice maker jams up and wont defrost properly. The slides for the freezer ice up and are hard to move. The so called chilled water is cool for the first 200ml and then room temperature. What useless engineer designed this??? The half day wait arounds are a pain to get it fixed too. I see the same comments in other peoples reviews. They should take the piece of junk off the market to stop other poor shoppers wasting $3000 on a lemon. My 15 year old Westinghouse is still as good as the day I bought it. So the beer fridge has been reinstated a few times while waiting for a tech to come and fix this piece of landfill. It looks good and the shelving in the fridge is nice and big but don't, whatever you do, don't buy this fridge.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
worst fridge ever
I hate this fridge. Picked it cos it was pretty but the water was never cold and the handles rediculously sharp if you hit them. Now, after 5 years, its stopped working. Was told today by the tech that there is a gas leak and it is going to cost me over $600 to have it taken away and fixed. To say I regret buying this is a massive understatement. Its only just out of warranty - its like they plan it to only last 5 years!! I've had a second fridge, an old westinghouse, for over 15 years and it works perfectly still. Totally unacceptable $600!!!!!! ????
Pretty
didnt work very long before breaking down, water trickles out of the filter and isnt cold.

You might need to confirm with F and P customer care to find out if you were given a 5 year sealed system warranty. I hope so would come in handy hey. Good luck with your result.

to the work carried out relating to the gas leak I would be up for the service charges. I promptly informed them it never made that noise til they got their hands on it but I left it and now put up with an intermittent whirring noise because I seriously cannot be bothered arguing with them as I predict will happen. It took them two weeks to even find the warehouse they took my fridge to for repairs the first time around. I can't deal with these people again, unless there is fire shooting out of the water dispenser (which would be more exciting than the trickle of warm water I currently get) I'll avoid them at all costs.Similar opinion? Fed Up!!
This fridge has broken down seven times in three years. All breakdowns relate to wiring issues and the wiring looms in both doors have been fully replaced at least once. When the fridge is working, I can't fault it, however it is unreliable to the extreme. I last had it repaired on 16 Oct 13 and you guessed it, it has since broken down yet again with the same issue - the repair didn't even last 13 days. Words cannot describe how frustrated I am at the moment. F&P are refusing to replace the fridge - in a letter from them they state that th...Read more

Don't fall for the look
Yes it's a pretty refrigerator but that's it's only selling point. My fridge is only two years old and I have today given up and bought a new fridge from another company. I will never buy a Fisher and Paykel product again. The visiting technicians take none of my concerns seriously with my complaints being met with guffaws! It's always my fault - you didn't close the door properly(leaking), you didn't change the filter often enough (the water trickle from the water dispenser), you've got the fridge up to high/low (freezing of veg and going off ...Read more

Ours has just started to not cool or freeze correctly ( lost a bunch of food due to defrosting ). reset temp to max low to see if it would make a significant difference and it's made very little difference. had an appliance guy come out and all appears to be ok based on visual checks of the evaporator and he's suggesting the main module is possibly at fault. it's 4-5 years old now so out of warranty are there any suggestions.

Who needs spare parts? I kept most of the trays and removables bits.. The fridge is going to the recycle centre once my new fridge comes. Also .. i think my compressor is still new.. just that it is out of gas.
