Ours has just started to not cool or freeze correctly ( lost a bunch of food due to defrosting ). reset temp to max low to see if it would make a significant difference and it's made very little difference. had an appliance guy come out and all appears to be ok based on visual checks of the evaporator and he's suggesting the main module is possibly at fault. it's 4-5 years old now so out of warranty are there any suggestions.

Our RF610AUDX1 (22152-C) has recently tripped the house circuit breaker. Upon immediately trying to reset the house breaker it will trip again, however after a period of time (fridge back to room temperature) once switched back on (fridge/freezer empty) the circuit breaker didn't trip for another 28hrs. All the correct fridge/freezer temperatures were achieved (not issues there). Based on other feedback on Whirlepool forum with similar issues I've tested the defrost heater which looks fine (146.9ohms) and I've checked the 3 phase inverter compressor which has a consistent 6.6ohms on each winding, I've also tried different power circuits in two different houses, so definitely know it's the fridge. The only other thing worth noting is that the front electronic display only partially works (all the features work fine, however the display needs replacing). Any thoughts as to what could be the cause, and how to test?

I hade same issue. Problem was and is behind the fridge their is a Control Module. Mice was collecting food scrap and dropping inside the board. Please check. Clean and cover with wire mesh if possible. Same time check components behind Bottom freezer drawer by removing panel. Heater mounting may be cracking and touching earth wire. Possible when wet.

I have exactly the same problem since the removalists delivered my new F&P and moved the old one. Works for 45mins then trips the circuit.

The ice maker on our F&P RF610ADUX is faulty. It appears to be letting water into it making the ice form into a big clump on top of the ice cubes. I've noticed that 2 parts had fallen out, a foam piece and a plastic retainer, which is something to do with retaining a blue wire which is now hanging down behind the ice maker. How do I find out where this retainer goes on the ice maker assembly, and is the plastic retainer available new, as I think it's retaining tabs are broken-they look shorter than in the parts drawing. Also how do I get the freezer drawer out to gain access to the ice maker assembly? Thanks in advance.

black object (icemaker temperature sensor) on end of blue wire clips into base of ice cube tray, covered by foam block, and clipped by plastic thing to hold it all in place.
Bloody hard to do if you don't know how to remove the door etc.
Call an f&p tech and watch how he does it.

Thanks I already did 3 weeks ago but thanks for your answer. He fixed the ice maker and now the freezer drawer doesn’t open and close properly. I rang F&P back and they said they can’t book the tech in to return as “they are booked up for the foreseeable future and their calendar system won’t allow them to book past then”...

I have the RF610ADUSX5 model. It was leaking water into the ice cube basket which became a solid mass of ice. I've discovered the ice-cube tray is broken at the flipper mechanism/motor end which is why water leaked into the basket. I think something was put on top of the ice cubes which prevented the tray from flipping. Anyway, is it possible for me to buy and fit a new ice-cube tray?

You would think that F&P customer service would be actively answering these simple questions but apparently they couldn't care less. In contrast, we bought a Sealy bed 8 years ago. Recently it was getting uncomfortable so I contacted Sealy. They sent out this experienced guy who looked at it, agreed it wasn't the best, arranged for it to be picked up and taken back to the factory where they took it apart and rebuilt it, delivered back the same day, free of charge and now it's mint again. That is customer service!

we have RF610ADUX2 model & are struggling how to keep the temp @ 4c for fridge & -18c for the freezer as there is no actual temp gauge to know it is @ that temperature?
Also the doors do not close properly now, when you close both doors the right one stays open slightly & thus alarms..what might be the issue? Thank you, otherwise its a great product, bought in 2012

I think the doors not closing properly could mean your fridge is on a tilt? You can turn the knobs on the bottom of the fridge to set height. I bought myself a thermostat for 5 bucks thats a magnet. I stick this to the inside of my fridge to view the right temperatures. :)

fisher_man
fisher_man

The soft close mechanism is faulty and needs replacing.
The temperature sensors work on the absolute temperature inside fridge/ freezer, irrespective of outside temperature.
If display set in the middle the fridge sensor will keep it at 4C and the freezer sensor at -18C (this will fluctuate slightly due to hysteresis.

Hi Sharon
I've had this happen a few times over the years. I believe the culprit is having the freezer/fridge temperature set too cool and the line to the water dispenser actually freezes, so no water. I figured this out by slowly raising the temperatures up and eventually it started working again. The quicker solution would be to simply clean out the fridge if you have that handy second "beer" fridge somewhere in the house and unplug the fridge and leave it for four or five hours, than restart. Remember to observe your fridge and freezer settings so they are set higher, although I believe the fridge likely restarts with default settings.
Also, this is the solution for when you find water pooling under your fridge as well. Not sure why this solved the problem but it did.
I am also currently tackling why the ice cube maker every so often prematurely just dumps water into the ice cube container and causing a large ice cube to form in the base of the container. I initially unplugged the fridge and restarted it hoping it was a cycle problem in the software and this appeared to work for a few weeks but it's started again. I've taken the whole thing apart previously and will do so again to see if the temperature probe might be loose, maybe I can do this without taking it all apart. hmmm.

I believe there is a fill kit for this fridge, it has a heater which prevents the water freezing - not sure.
Water under the fridge is blocked drain pipe ( located under the evaporator) in freezer. Turning off til the ice 'plug' in drain melts and it works again.

Hi there. Thank you for your question. I've had this happen once before, 3 weeks after purchase. There was nothing obviously wrong with the unit itself. I reset the fridges circuitry by disconnecting from power supply for 3-5mins. Then re activate. I did the trick for me and hasn't reoccurred since.

fisher_man

Either the display is faulty or there is a broken wire on top of door hinge.
F&P tech can determine and repair.
Display not working will not stop fridge, but you cannot change any controls.

We have just replaced the water filter on out F & P fridge (for cold water and automatic ice making) due to the warning icon coming up on the door display. We had the old one sawed in half and the inside actual filter part is black. Is black the colour of this part or is is dirt from the water supply? The reason for doing this apparently odd experiment is that we have all water to our apartment filtered (hot and cold) and therefore expected that already filtered water was entering the fridge filter. If the filter inside is not black when it's new, then we need to complain to the suppliers of the whole apartment water filters which were very expensive! Your response would be most appreciated.

What were you expecting to find inside your water filter?
It would seem reasonable that a water filter full of activated carbon would be black, I would have thought!

What is fault code f13 on my fisher and paykel model number rf610a?

Ever since brand new I've had so much trouble in the 4 trays. They constantly fill with water as well as the plastic piece under the glass shelf. I've had to throw out hundreds of dollars of fruit and veggies as they go mouldy, rot or slimy within days. I contacted Fisher & Paykel and was ignored by a very rude NZ woman. I put up with it for few more months as it got worse so phoned again. A rude man came out and replaced a part behind the fridge and said it was the problem and stormed off. It was faulty but the problem didn't stop. It got worse. I called many times. One guy told me to put paper towels in each tray to absorb the water and that will fix it. I did for a while and they would get very wet causing the fruit and veggies rotting each time was within a few days. I called out help several more time and one guy came twice and told me to complain to contact care service and it should be replaced. Rang again as heard nothing then a guy came out and told me he left parts in the fridge to check it and will be back tomorrow. No one came. I complained to ACCC and they said they would do something about it and started but haven't heard anything from them after the next guy came out who was extremely arrogant and carried on adamantly and stupidly that it was my fault as different fruit and veggies can't be stored together because of gases they release. I told him numerous times we go through lots of veggies very quickly. In his report he stated it's because of what I put in together. If he bothered to look in properly he would have seen there were no fruit and veggies in same tray. What angered and upset me the most was Fisher & Paykel stating they were coming out to take the fridge away to be checked out but never came. I gave them my serial number and told them I wasn't sure if it was right and to tell me if wrong. I heard nothing about it then I get an email stating my fridge is 12 years old and will cost a lot for them to do this. I was very angry and found and sent them the real numbers and out of courtesy a photocopy of the receipt. One of the repairmen told me they have all the information about my fridge. I got a sorry then complaints again they couldn't read the receipt. They never asked for one but my husband scanned it and it was sent and I heard nothing back. This has gone on and on for 2 years. One guy said bottom containers are for meats and the arrogant one said it's for drinks. They couldn't agree. The last arrogant guy stating it was gases from the products causing the problem told me there would have been nothing wrong with the part behind the fridge and it would have been replaced to keep me happy. I saw it and it was covered in medium black marks. Never get a Fisher & Paykel fridge as it will never get fixed or replaced. We have lost hundreds and hundreds of dollars throwing produce out. I'm now extremely upset now because of their rudeness and not caring walking away hoping they will never hear from me again. Only one repairman was lovely and on his second visit gave me the advice to complain as it's definitely faulty but can't find it.
