Washing machine control module is powered (does light sequence on display as wall power is engaged), but power button not working.
The power button works sometimes, but is becoming more irregular. Once the power button works the whole unit is up and running.
I had this fixed by a service person who was familiar with the matter. He tested the control module with a voltmeter and then said can fix, we picked up the module following day and installed and machine is good.
The intermittent power is progressing to worse and we want to be able to fix ourselves.
Anyone know how to repair the current running through the control module please, not parts were replaced in the prior repair?

Can you manually Len the lint filter?

3 answers
fisher_man
fisher_man

Not really, is self cleaning.
Could put machine on to hot, high water level, high spin.
Throw a handfull of epson salts in, neutralises the caustic powder and wash - doubt it would work but hey, you'll feel better.
Or pull the inner bowl out and get hands cut to shreds.Outside of inner bowl is the lint filter.

Lee
Lee

You can't as it is self cleaning and the machines don't come with lint filters. You can, however, buy an optional Lint Filter Assembly part from Fisher and Paykel for $44.00 plus $15.00 postage from their website. It fits down into the middle of the agitator where you put the washing powder. It is annoying that F&P do not supply it with brand new machines. I used to get lint all over my black clothes until I bought the optional filter.

My washing washes fibe at the wash cycle but when it goes to rinse or spin cycle. The machine consantly beeps and says its "out of balance". On a quick cycle, it takes 3 hours. Is this normal?

3 answers

No it is not normal the instruction manual should tell you how to adjust machine for the balance. Mine takes 55 mins to do a wash but I am not sure actually how long it washes as it takes so long to fill up with water

JADS88
JADS88

Hello - The feet on the bottom can adjust to suit and to realign. As for the wash cycles, they are almost spot on to match which is displayed on the little screen... I normally use the 'Normal' or 'Heavy' load but use medium spin speed as to not ruin clothes. I use the quick cycle for small loads. I hope this helps, if not maybe call Fisher & Paykel and if still under warranty they should resolve for you. Let us know how you get along. Cheers.

Get the bands and suspension replaced.
Price is about $120 for parts, then machine will work like new!

Ours is too, at around 3.5 years of age. The clips holding the pressure chamber plug at the bottom of the machine(next to the pump), seemed to have rusted away & the o-ring is damaged, letting water leak out. The plug was full of dirt & grit too.

I am trying to clean my fisher and paykel washsmart top loader 10kg and have followed the instructions on washing the inside of the machine and I have paused/stopped it agitating after 15min and opened the lid...but I went back half an hour later and all the water had drained baring a little in the machine...I thought the whole point in cleaning/soaking is to keep water level high to allow it to clean inside?? Or am I missing something??

1 answer
Shels
Shels

This is a very late response, I guess you may have worked it out by now. Just in case... it is a safety mechanism if there is water in machine and the lid is not locked, after a couple of minutes it will drain to prevent infants/children drowning. If you select the “soak” option when you are setting your other selections to clean your machine, it will soak for two hours then go onto complete the cycle. If you want to soak for less than two hours, set a kitchen timer for the amount of time you would like, then you can turn off machine and either restart on full cycle or restart from rinse option.

Can i wash a queen size quilt in this machine safely my daughter in law washed hers and it rubbed a tear in it

The instructions say some bigger items float up during the wash, if they sit too high they may rub on stationary parts, push back down into the water after fill, and again to sit below the medium high water level mark on the agitator before spinning. Select a slow spin. You can probably look on google and down load the instruction book if you need it.

How old is this machine? I would ring Fisher and Paykel and see if they can do it under warranty, even if it is just out they should help towards the cost. $250.00 isn't too bad and I wouldn't suggest trying to fix it unless you have done this sort of thing before.

jji
jji

You can try ringing Fisher & Paykel customer service Dept to see if they will repair as good faith if it's only a couple of months out of warranty, $250 is a reasonable cost for the springs, I wouldn't attempt to fix it unless you have experience with this type of product . $250 is a lot cheaper than buying a new one .

Had a 7.5kg simpsons washer for 13 years.. it finally died and today I got my 10kg F&P.
I have done a wash.. seems good.. BUTT..

My simpson had a feature where you could set it to NOT empty at the end and spin, which means I could set it to wash before I went to bed, then manually set it to empty and spin when I woke up in the morning.

If I could not do that, the clothes would be semi dry and wrinkled..

This doesn't seem to be able to be done with the F&P which would be extremely disappointing.

Help with any advice please.

Hi there,
I'm not sure about that you will have to refer to your manual, i know with my machine it has a delay start option so you can choose when then wash cycle starts, that might be your best option

I usually delay the start of the entire cycle so it will be finished when I want to hang it out. If you prefer to still do it with it washing immediately and then stopping, just select 'no spin' on the cycle and will leave more water in there.

We are having hot water entry issues to this machine. Has anyone encountered this before? It worked once, but now I cannot get hot water to come through. I have checked the hose, and taps....hot water runs freely from the tap for me, but for some reason will not go through to the machine. I am unable to do hot or warm washes on any cycle as I could in the past. Any suggestions welcomed! Thank you.

I have a similar problem hot water won't go thru to machine at start of cycle when 'hot' an 'warm' temp are chosen. Machine beeps to let me no that no hot water is getting threw as needed to fill machine.. Yes Both taps r turned on and Hoses arnt blocked and water presure is good. But near end of cycle it will then allow the hot water to come threw to machine then? But just wont at start of cycle.

Julz

We are having the same issue...apparently through lots of googling hot water only goes in at the start of the wash to dissolve washing powder/liquid. Don’t know what the point is then for having an option for HOT water??!!

check your water settings,
if on auto sensing some bulky loads like sheets, large towels, and heavy bulky items won't work well with that setting. use a manual water level setting to cover the load.
if it still doesn't cover it then you may be overloading the machine.

Hi, is this out of warranty? First off have you read the owner's manual that came with the machine, you can download it from the F&P site. AT 32 min it's doing its first spin cycle and it could be a number of things, the first one would be are you using too much detergent (like I do) the machine will turn the detergent into a froth that will stop the machine. Next to check is the machine level, to level it roughly you have to (with power turned off and machine empty) (and if you think you are going to injure yourself don't do this,) the way I do it is standing in front of the machine I put my foot against the lower part of the machine to stop it sliding forward and reach over and pull the back of the machine towards you till it lifts off the ground and let it go back down again, this is part of the self-leveling mechanism, also you should have a mini spirit level to fine-tune the level of the machine (you will have to read the owner manual to do that), I am not wasting my time explaining that one as most people don't want to do anything that involves effort. The only other thing I can think off is a mechanical fault and that would be if the support rods that hold the tub are rusty (salt air) or worn out (like LG's after two years or so), these rods are usually spring loaded and can seize from rust or not enough special grease applied when new or are cheaply made(I am not sure of that with F&P's, unlike other brands that we won't mention). hope this helps, regards Alan.

hello, our machine is doing the exact same thing, my machine is 2 years old. i have pulled top off and can see 1 spring going from the back left rod to the bowl but not sure if there should be 1 for each corner/rod, could you check your machine for me as my machine is level so running out of thoughts on what it could be.cheers aaron, i'm at Jimboomba.

hi, ive pulled my machine apart and there is water stuck in the bottom of the main bowl so im thinking thats what keeps throwing the balance out. must be a seal gone i'm thinking.

Why do you suggest only using liquid laundry detergent in the machine. Can I dissolve powder and use as a liquid?

1 answer
Lennos
Lennos

Hi Lyn, my recommendation is because the way they have designed the agitator (poorly, thus the reason the fins break off) means that it doesn't move the clothes around a great deal when washing and so the powder tends to just get clumped up in the clothes. This happens especially with towels and sheets. You could quite happily dissolve your powder first, which will pose no problems, but I recommended using liquid detergent as it is more convenient for a lot of people (cost aside).

My machine has lately been registering out of balance. But before this happens the machine does an unusual thumping when beginning spinning which causes the out of balance sign to show on the display panel. The thumping from inside the machine only lasts a few seconds for this to happen. Is there a problem with the internal working of the machine or are the legs under the machine in need of adjustment??

3 answers

Thanks Pete. Our machine had no indicator for out of balance. We knew when it was out of balance simply by the loud clunking when it was operating. This would continue until we turned off the machine and manually redistributed the load.

Deb
Deb

In my opinion it could either be that either your load is out of balance (which happens sometimes with small loads and heavy sodden items), or the machine needs feet adjusted. The machine needs to be sitting firm and level.

Kath
Kath

Had this problem many times. You will need to have the rods and bands that support the barrel replaced. If still in warranty no probs. If out Bands are around $40, rods are around $120 for all 4. Easily replaced, google how to there is a step by step visual tutorial on how to do it.

This machine does have a hot wash - you have to use the Allergy cycle though. You cannot get a hot or warm wash with any of the other cycles. All other cycles use hot/warm water at the very beginning of the cycle only, basically to dissolve the detergent. I've had this machine for over 3years now, so unless they've removed the Allergy cycle or changed it then you should still be able to wash with hot/warm using the Allergy cycle.

JVM
JVM

I think this machines' performance is very deceptive. When you select "warm wash" - that's what you expect it to do. The tiny bit of warm/hot water recycled in the first 4 mins, is so diluted when the machine fills with COLD, that the wash temp isn't even tepid.. Really silly that you cannot wash in warm water. I'm going to have a go at reprogramming it to wash warm - but pretty silly F and P !!

Tim
Tim

Thanks for the response peoples. Now I understand and I agree that is deceptive.

Hi. I don't know - sorry- I suggest you call the company. Just a suggestion- check the water settings - Mine are on auto and have warm and cold water- I turn off the hot water tap- so I manually remove the warm. when I didn't remove the warm there was an error message on mine. so maybe try doing it manually - each setting- and see if that helps. But I'd contact their support --- cheers :-)

Drum not moving so it stops and restarts 6 or 8 times.

I wouldn't really know, I wouldn't think so. The machine automatically switches off after a wash is completed (ie. the electrical panel is completely off). The only thing that it might affect is if you have programmed specific things into your wash cycles. Sorry I can't be more help.
