The wash cycle on my machine are ridiculously long.
The bothe the Regular and Quick cycle takes 120 minutes this cannot be correct?
Can anyone provide advice please?

HI- THAT'S TOO LONG- CHECK YOUR SETTINGS- DO YOU HAVE IT AS regular ---- auto ----- fast ---- then hit start & check time. i did a heavy duty- soak - wash and it was 2 &1/2 hours- ( full 10kg load too ) so 1 & 1/2 hours is too long for a normal wash - it must be the settings imho- try the auto - regular- fast ( wash temp COLD ) see what comes up- hope this helps
Maybe try replacing the suspension rods.
Keeps going OOB and stops and tries to correct the problem, making the wash take longer.
Hi Heather. This may have to do with the water pressure. We live out of town, and filling is very slow due to gravity fed water.

In reading reviews this machine does not appear to have a hot or warm cycle except for allergy wash, is this true?
Lint seems to be a huge issue is this true? I am trying to decide on what top loader to buy and am becoming very confused.
2 answers
I don't really use the allergy cycle nor have i stopped the machine to check the water temp due to the annoying pause function. Lint is bad but not excessive. I make sure i shake my clothes before and after i hang them but when i shake my clothes when they are dry alot flies off
hi- not true- it has a hot and cold wash - if you do auto it will pick the wash - i have set it to heavy duty auto and discovered it has the warm water - as i hadn't turned the hot on at the wall - it kept telling me there was an error- took me a while to work it out. ( it wouldn't start because i had not turned the hot tap on at the wall- not the machines fault ) once i changed the water temp setting to cold and left it on heavy duty- it started - i did a soak wash too. - luv this machine so far :-)

My lid holds open up to about 20cm then slams shut when I push it.Should it soft close slowly from fully open to close by itself.Hard to explain & have had 1 kind answer already.Just trying to figure out why I have had 4 machines in 4 weeks & all of them have a lid that slams down, even though this model is advertised as having a soft close lid.Almost took my hand off many times over.If lid is fully up & I tap it closed it will go to about 20cm from close, then when tapped again slams down fast.If I let it drop from fully open it just slams all the way down.Where is the soft close???My previous simpson very gently closed all the way down without slamming.Interested to know everyone elses lid functions??
2 answers
i just tried my lid - doesn't slam shut on mine. -- p.s. -- i don't let it drop - i close it myself- not sure if that makes any difference or not. - but i just tried mine and it closes a little fast- but not slamming. :-)
Thankyou Marci for your helpful reply,I think I shall book a service call as this machine has slammed shut from brand new which was only 3 weeks ago.

I got my fisher and paykel washsmart top loader 10kg yesterday. It washed 2 loads perfectly and then the third load stopped after the first cycle and says 'no tap'. I did everything in the manual and checked everything, connections, taps are on ect but it keeps doing it. I am not happy at all. Whats wrong with it?

I have done all those things and still doing same thing. Thanks
My washer sometimes stops for no reason too. My advice to you is that do not call fisher&paykel service, just ask a refund. I called their service because of a number of problems. The service person was impolite, sarcastic, angry and had a Hail-the-washer attitude. They said that they are in a hurry and don't have much time to inspect the washer. Even though washer was visibly vibrating when spinning empty drum, they said that it was balanced. They could see clearly that water level was never correct but they said it was ok. And at the end they said to me that I was causing the machine to act strangely because I pause it. When I tried to explain that there is a pause button and simply sometimes I pause it to check water level or clothes, he angrily said 'why would you pause it' and then suggested that I should get a twin tub washer and stormed out of my house. I have asked for a refund but fisher&paykel have not responded my email.
This happened to me-a couple of things that may have caused it for me (not sure which one helped as I did them all at the same time and it's now running perfectly)-
1) the drain hose was way too far down in the drain outlet...much further than the 20 mm recommended
2) the hoses had been so tightly secured to the tap that I think the valve in them had malfunctioned...by loosening them and having them tight but not unlock able it also stopped the leaking that I was getting from the taps as well (that I had never had with my old machin
3) I moved the machine slightly further away from the wall.
I've had another issue with tha machine not filling adequately...but when I put it through the test that you are supposed to do before the first cycle it's now going perfectly...so if all the above don't work maybe try the 'installation test cycle' again. (Power, key lock and options pressed at the same time (hold for 2 sec) and then the start/pause button

The rinse and spin function have failed. The machine is only 5 months out of warranty. What will it cost to fix?

Consumer guarantee act should cover this even though it is out of warranty. Take your receipt back to the shop and insist on this.

Our 10kg F&P top loader is several years old and has stopped working. There appears to be no power getting to the machine, this is not the case as I've tested the power point with another appliance. I've unplugged the machine and plugged it back in hoping that it might just be a restart thing I know it's not a computer but thought it was worth a try. The machine appears to be completely dead. Is this a common occurrence?

As you've read I have a big issue with the temperature settings of the wash cycles on this machine, is this the same with the fabricsmart 10kg top loader, or can you actually select warm wash on the fabricsmart and actually get a warm wash? Will the machine continue to put warm water in for both the detergent activating and the agitation wash parts of the washing cycle? If yes will this machine then give me a cold rinse or a warm rinse, please answer as my retailer appears happy to change my machine, however not sure if I'll be going with a F&P again as don't know whether to trust by looking at fabric smart machine if it'll do the same as wash smart, or actually give me a choice to wash using warm water which us actually what I require, and thought I was buying with the wash smart.

Your FabricSmart™ uses a dual-action wash to give excellent wash performance while taking great care of your clothes. We call this the Eco-Active™ wash. The two parts to the Eco-Active™ wash are explained below:
Wash 1 – Detergent activating wash (front-loader type wash)
For both ‘Eco-Active™, On’ and ‘Eco-Active™, Off’ selections your FabricSmart™ washer fills the bowl at the selected temperature with just enough water so that your clothes are 100% saturated. This small amount of water flows down through the clothes, into the bowl base, mixes with the detergent, then is pumped up a specially designed portal and back onto the clothes in a cascade effect. This wash action thoroughly dissolves and activates the detergent. The concentrated solution of detergent and water rapidly targets stains and soils at the fibre-level of fabrics, boosting soil removal and accelerating the wash process. Note: the detergent activating wash on the ‘Sports’ cycle is cold temperature.
Wash 2 – Agitation wash (top-loader type wash)
After recirculating the sudsy water through your clothes for 4 minutes if you have selected ‘Eco-Active™, On’, your FabricSmart™ washer will fill with just enough
cold water to suspend the clothes in solution. Agitation will then begin, moving soil away from the clothes. If you have selected ‘Eco-Active™, Off’ or the ‘Sports’
cycle, your washer will fill with just enough water at the temperature you have selected.
Thanks Fisher and paykel for responding so quickly, however this answer and your answer from my question on the 25 May state that for the detergent activating wash part of the cycle the machine fills with just enough water at the SELECTED TEMPERATURE to dissolve and activate the detergent, can you then tell me why with my WA1068G1 whether I select regular, hand wash or quick cycles and then select warm and or cold wash, the machine first fills with HOT water at this detergent activating stage, there are a lot of clothes I don't want hot water going anywhere near, is this a fault or is this how the machine is designed?

I have just in the last week bought this machine ( the 10 kg wa1068g1) and noticed that when I selected regular cycle, hot wash that the machine puts a little bit of hot water in and then the rest is cold, so basically I'm washing in cold water, not hot which I want. This is not good enough when wanting to wash towels, bedding or my husbands heavily soiled work clothes. As the machine is actually letting some hot water in, I know it's not an issue with our connections. Also is there a way I can wash and rinse with warm water, water that is actually warm, not lukewarm at best? I've had this machine for a week, and am beginning to think it was a mistake to buy.

If you need hot water during the agitation part of the wash, select the ALLERGY cycle.
So what your telling me is that I've just bought a top loading machine, that Fischer and paykel knowingly sell falsely. When looking at the machine in the store, it shows that it has a hot, a warm and a cold wash cycle and that I the consumer can supposedly select which one I want. But in choosing hot, I'm not getting hot at all, and also it appears that when choosing warm, by the time the machine fills after the first 4 minutes according to your answer, my machine will basically be washing with cold water not warm. There are times when I want to wash with warm water, not hot, not cold, I can't believe you sell a machine that appears to offer this but doesn't, This is false promotion, where and how do I go about getting a refund now that I've used this machine, which is not what I thought I was buying.
Hello Willow, you are right about misleading information but hell will freeze over before you get a refund. We only wash in cold water so that is why we like this machine.I would suggest you use the heavy and allergy settings on hot and see how it goes. All the best rexyb.

I have had my machine for 18 months and has been working great up until now. It continually bounces out of balance. I rearrange cloths and still out of balance. I have checked the level of the machine and all is good. It even says out of balance when there are no cloths in the machine. Could this be a solenoid problem?

2 year warranty on all products
A Fisher and Paykel technician came and fixed the machine within a week of requesting service. The problem was the suspension rods (4 of them) had worn and need to be replaced. It is very disappointing that this should occur within 2 & 1/2 years of purchasing and of course just outside of its warranty. They just don't make machines to last longer than 2 years and thank goodness I had extended warranty, which covered the problem. The machine is working perfectly now and hopefully will last a little longer this time.
