Ready for the Tip after 3 years
After years of using Westinghouse appliances I thought I would try Fisher & Paykel. Maybe they used to be a reputable brand but certainly not anymore and have since heard they were bought out some time ago. Washing machine actually had complete failure during warranty and display board was replaced, then back again to replace a nodule the second time it broke down!. A couple of months out of warranty and that's when it got expensive. Broke down again outside of warranty, got a repairman and paid for the part along with all the mornings taken...Read more
off from work to wait for a repairman.. Year later again and the balance nodules are gone, this time repairman $136 parts $400. Time to say goodbye. Cost of machine $900 Cost of repairs not including warranty ones if I had of paid for them all and not sent it to the tip- $800. Have since bought an Asko.Purchased in August 2021 at The Good Guys for $900.00.

So disappointed
I have had Fisher and Paykel washing machines for as long as I can remember.
Our old one packed it in after more than 15 years so of course, with such a great track record, we purchased another...
Bad decision.
The components under the lid are cheap and tacky. The lid where the powder is placed does not fit well. A service technician is coming out on Wednesday to see why the auto water level only fills to a small wash level. Clothes dont wash as well and the spin cycle is not as good as it has been in the past. Clothes used to be quite dry, not any more.
It is also ver noisy on the spin cycle. One of the reasons I loved my previous machines was the quiet...not any more.
I would recommend you buy something else.
Purchased in April 2021.

Buy something else
Very dissapointed in new Fisher and Paykel washing machine compared to previously owned prior models.
We have owned this one for over 2 1/2 years now so had plenty of time to be objective about it.
Broke down within the first 3 months. Repaired under warranty but took almost 2 weeks to get somebody here.
No lint filter. Clothes come out with lint stuck to them now.
Water level presets are set to give 3.5 star water rating, not to efficiently wash clothes. Need to manually select water level

Wonderful Washing Machine
I have always had Fisher & Paykel washing machines and couldn't be happier. I have had this machine for 3 years now and I love it.. Great for washing everything with all the different washing cycles. The only negative is that is that the spinning cycle does take a while to complete, but I usually stop it manually.

Works great always
Quiet fast machine. Easy to use. Clothes come out clean and well spun. Beats our old Simpson hands down, noisy old thing that put lint on the clothes nearly every time. Top marks for F&P. They make solid dependable gear. I would recommend Fisher and Paykel for a hassle free wash.

Unpredictable in addition poor customer service
On some occasions our washing machine is washing our clothes and draining at the same time. I reported this issue on August 2016 but their technician said the machine was working well and he didn't have an explanation for this problem, even when he watched my recordings. Also when the machine is set on a high, it doesn't fill up to the high marking on the agitator anymore. I explained that my king size Sheridan sheet was damaged. He found no issue with the hose and explained the water doesn't necessarily need to reach the level markings. I find...Read more
this to be a problem because there's not enough water to wash a full load or a king size sheet! I gave up the complaint because of a customer service rep who was rudely cutting me off and comparing our wash loads and years of washing experience, it was so RIDICULOUS!!! This week the machine started to drain whilst washing again, the water level is still too low for a full load Hard Yakka work wear. I tried to report the problems again as it's still under warranty til 4/2018. A customer service rep started to give me her opinion and disapproval about the lid being opened whilst filming, adding I will have to pay for the service technician if they find no problem. I told her I wasn't prepared to pay for a call out on a machine under warranty, and then she hung up the call when I requested her to escalate my complaint with management. Fisher & Paykel you have some UNPROFESSIONAL AND RUDE people representing your company. Take some lessons from Electrolux Australia. They are a professional team!Similar opinion? Impressive unit sleek and simple
Cleans clothes very well there are so many wash cycles to choose from it is so basic to use but is giving you all the razzmatazz. No agitator makes for a safe wash on gentle clothing and it holds a hell of a lot, it will stabilise itself if it is thrown off, Great product, Works in traditional mode and high efficency mode, best of both worlds from one of the greatest manufacturers of washing machines

Simply the best! It deserves 5 stars
Bought this model in July 2016. Was afraid that it would not live up to my old trusty Simpson which was bought and built before the "throw away mentality" took hold. Well, I got lucky because it is simple to use, it washes and rinses very well, it is not noisy and it looks good. It has a stainless steel drum which is what I wanted, the 8kg capacity is just right and the manual is very clear and concise. Thank you Fisher Paykel, I am one very happy girl.
I love this machine.

am very happy with this machine
my 17 yo Hoover top loader washing machine finally died, I had only had it fixed twice in its lifetime. So I wanted a machine that did everything I wanted and would last many years. Apparently they are hard to find.
so I went to my local Betta Living, told the salesperson what I wanted in a machine, ie delay start - so I could have the washing ready to be hung up at 8 am and also to use offpeak electricity. At least 7.5 kg- just 3 big loads a week.
and options like separate spin separate soak. this machine had that and more, I can change t...Read more

A easy to use washing machine
it washes good, easy to use machine.it controls are easy to use and have no problem setting machine, also the washing time is not as long as other washing machines on the market.Only downside of the machine is that Fisher &Paykel sizes are 8kg that we bought then next size is 10kg,it would of suited us if they had a 8.5 kg washing machine,as the 8kg we have is just that bit smaller.
I like the design of the machine as it easy to clean,we are generally happy with it upto now

Over it
Have had the machine for 3 years. Always had F&P washing machines previously that were great, until this one. Problems we have had with it are: overspins putting holes in clothes, and tangling up and stretching delicates. The machine really jumps round, making a huge racket and putting pressure on connecting hoses. Had a flood yesterday as a result. Always out of balance, even with just a couple of single sheets in an 8kg washer. Dark clothes always have to be de-linted after washing. Quite stressful using it; we are over it and replacing it.

(10kg) Major fault died four and a half months after expiry of 2 yr warranty - estimated cost to run
Should have been called WashDumb! I echo all the detailed complaints described in previous critical reviews. A fool of a machine and expensive to run. The operator has no control of it. If you need a hard-working machine then I recommend that you delete this model from your list of choices and don't believe Fisher and Paykel's claims with regard to other models. Harvey Norman pushed this on me and also sold me their $150 Product Care Plan which was supposed to cover it for 60 months from purchase. After the expiry of its 24 month statutory warr...Read more
anty, I effectively paid $34 a month to ensure it would be replaced! I'm opting for my money back! I want a robust, analogue machine with sensible design and engineering, not something that's going straight to landfill!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Efficient and Slimline Washer
Washes, cleans and rinses clothes well.Clothes don't wear out as machine quite gentle. The motor is not loud, even when it spins. My favourite features are the soft close lid, the safety of the kid lock lid and the slimness of the machine.Agitator comes apart for cleaning, enabling you to keep your machine clean and fresh.

Lint always on the dark wash
Very unhappy with the lint, hairs etc that do not come off the clothes. I have had the technician out who was rude and basically told me it was my fault which it isn't. I have noted that there are many other people that have the same problem. I can not get the clothes lint free and have tried everything I can think of. Washing the clothes twice as I'm doing does not get the lint off. Wouldn't buy this machine again.

So far love this machine
We had a 7kg LG washer dryer hated this machine nearly every wash it would unbalance, the wash cycles so long and we kept seeing white streaks on the clothes, after 5 years we decided enough was enough and purchased the Fisher & Paykel( not this model of course but we were looking at the F & P then but was talked into the LG) now this machine is the opposite to the LG, So far 6 months down the track not once has it gone off balance, the wash programmes quicker and cleaner than the LG.
The only fault if you can call it a fault is that you can...Read more

Small loads only - always unbalanced
At the end of the day, the clothes are cleaner than when they went in, and that's about it. This machine is constantly over balancing. At best you can load it up with about 2kg, and that's on medium spin - don't even think about fast!
Very disappointed as our old 4.5kg (I think that was the size) could be loaded up to its full capacity.

Couldn't be happier!
Previously I had a Fisher & Paykel Aquasmart that I wasn't impressed with. Its power board died (was quoted $300 to repair) so after much research I purchased the WA8060g1 for $699 on special at the Good Guys. This was $100 cheaper than at Harvey Norman. This model meant reverting back to a gentle middle agitator which IMHO works better than the ' toss & tangle your clothes in a tad of soapy water' flat agitator.
This machine does everything I could ask for; washes & cleans well ( make up stains on collars disappear during washing); there's no...Read more

Two major Issues to be aware of
I bought this machine about 6 months ago and think future buyers should be aware of 2 issues that really annoy me.
1. There is only one solenoid (for tap opening and closing), which means that warm water CAN NOT fill the machine as only one tap can be open at a time. If you choose "warm" you will get alternating hot and cold water. I put my hand under the water (to rinse off some detergent) and was scalded as the hot was running. If you put delicates into the machine be aware that they will be covered with very hot water before any cold gets...Read more
added. 2. This machine goes off balance very easily and always with a load of sheets or towels. If you like to put a load of washing on, go out and then come home to hang it out - forget it. The machine will be full of soggy clothes, the load not spun and the machine will have bounced its way across the laundry floor. I will NEVER buy another one!!Similar opinion? Working perfectly this morning. I unplugged it for 30 mins plugged it back in and NO POWER. Nothing wrong with power point. Left it 30 mins still won’t receive power when plugged in. Is there a fuse in these machines? I’m leaving it for a few hours now and see if it works. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Had a similar problem. F&P customer service rep said it could be something to do with the motherboard in the machine. The cost of getting someone out to look at it was too expensive so we ended up buying a new LG Machine last weekend. Hope you have better luck!
I left it a few hours plugged it in and turned it on and Hey Presto!!! working again. I was very much relieved.
Damo Martinasked
The machine is making a clunking noise when in use. It seems to be originating from around the bottom of the bowl and happens whenever any kind of spin cycle starts up. Any ideas on how to fix this?

We had a similar problem during the (brief) life of our F&P washer. We fixed the problem by purchasing a new washer. (NOT F&P).
