Pretty good
This is a pretty good smart watch. A nice step into the smart watch world. Great battery life. As a negative, a few more gadgety apps would go astray. All up I’m happy with mine

Fitbit Ionic - love it
I purchased my Fitbit Ionic from JB Hi Fi on 2/3/20...after dramas with the Garmin Vivoactive...but that's another review. The Ionic charged up quickly, paired with my Samsung J2 phone quickly and easily and, unlike the Garmin, synchs every time I need it too. It's sleek, functional and does everything I need it too. Price wise at $345 was a bit expensive but it's not that bad. The watch is light on my wrist and water resistant. Love it.

Had nothing but problems with my Ionic
Had this for six months. The sleep tracker no longer works, the band broke an it is an absolute nightmare to pair with an Android phone. When it works well, it is good, but it should have lasted longer than 6 months.

Disappointed
Was initially impressed by the watches functionality and exercise tracking but disappointed when watch failed to recharge. Returned the product once after failing, second time lost patience and replaced with different brand.

Great device, be better if it worked.
Bought the ionic for $388 1.5 years ago. It's had a couple of malfunctions, fixed 2 with a reset, 3rd time it just died and did not respond to any reset for a couple of days. It died again 4 days ago and hasn't come back to life. Good product when it work, needs a longer warranty for the price you pay. Dissapointed, can't recommend them. Will be looking at other products!

Third Time Lucky?
Purchased a Fitbit Ionic in Aug 2018 and it was great until Nov 19 when it died after ingesting water. Yes it's supposed to be resistent to water as you can count laps in the pool. Contacted F.Bit and they offered to send me a new one to replace. Nice. Took around 14 days to get the replacement and I've just spent the best part of 4 hours trying to set it up on my Fbit account. After about an hour with a Fbit support person on chat, trying everything including a factory reset it was clear the replacement was also faulty so now back to square on...Read more
e and have to wait another 10 business days (over Christmas) for another. I suggested taking it back to a local retailer but no, can't do that. Sorry. Do yourself a favour and just find another device to spend $A400 on. Won't be buying a Fitbit again....ever.Purchased in August 2021 for $399.00.

Great tool to help you move
I bought this to help motivate me to move and get fitter. It worked pretty well. The tracking of steps and notifications are great. syncs well with my pixel3 and is reasonably tough ie no scratches to date. I'd say other products out there might do a better job but I got this on sale for $249 so definitely worth it. Fitbits app and other associated apps are a great motivation tool... Lost 4kgs with this and a balanced diet.

Rubbish product
It is disappointing for three main reasons:
1. Time display is not continuous, so you have to press a button every Time you want to see the time.
2. Max. display time is only 60 seconds.
3. Step tracker is totally inaccurate for cycling. It shows approximately half the steps that SHealth shows on my phone, with the phone in my pocket.
What is the point of displaying a 50% inaccurate reading. Yes I have it correctly on my wrist and yes I have wrist placement on dominant. Buy something better.

Ionic is Ironic ... not getting fit a bit.
Fitbit ionic purchased in January 2022 .... failed in September. Been trying to resurrect since then after resetting the following .. wifi turned off/ on, phone, iPad even my MacBook all rebooted ... just wont connect to the wifi. The Apple devices recognise the Fitbit, 4 digit numbers are exchanged between them but no connection.
Next step, live chat with Fitbit help line. Nuh, 2 hours later we gave up. Warranty claim. Im crossing my fingers on that... now looking at Apple Watch.

A very Smart watch
I got my Fitbit Ionic as a replacement for my Fitbit Blaze which lasted a bit over 3 years. Note 3-4 years is the expected life of Lithium batteries (All good).
The Fitbit Ionic takes all that was good about the Blaze and takes it to another level. This is a fantastic and very useful Smart watch. It Counts Steps, Monitors Sleep, Maps Running or Bike riding using GPS, Stores and plays music, Makes payments and the list goes one. Oh it is swim wear too. It has a battery life of 4 to 5 days. It looks great and syncs with my 4 year old Android phon...Read more

It refuses to communicate with my phone.
I really struggle to get the watch to sync with my android phones. I have tried 3 different phones but it's always the same battle: I have to restart one or both devices for them to sync and there have been several occasions when that didn't even work. The gps function is fun on runs, and the vibrating alarm is a more gentle way to wake up than conventional blaring noise, but it's a complete waste besides that.

Poor product lifespan
Bought a Fitbit Ionic to replace a failing Blaze whose battery life faded after 18 mths. Has worked well for around 12 mths, then has simply completely died after being in the pool for 1 afternoon (it's supposed to be water-resistant) Cant find anywhere to have it repaired, and it's out of warranty. My wife's Blaze battery is now failing as well - that is three fitbits failing after ~ 1 yrs usage. We'll not be buying any more fitbits. looking at Apple watch instead

Average and unreliable.
I bought a fit bit ionic in February 2018. It has died a paltry 20 months later.
I initially bought the ionic for the heart rate monitoring as I was tired of wearing a proper monitor. As a heart rate monitor it was a fail from the beginning as it was very inaccurate. I also think the supposed step count is also very inaccurate.
Some of the other smart watch attributes were actually very handy. I really liked getting text and email notifications on my watch, it was actually really quite handy. In addition the alarms and count down timers were ...Read more
easy to set and quite reliable. Without gps active battery life was about 48 hours which is not too bad either. However in addition to the fails as a heart rate monitor and activity tracker there were other issues that make this watch a poor choice. The watch would stop displaying texts and other notifications pretty much every month or so and the fix was not a simple case of resynching, you had to forget the device and reinstall it which used to take about thirty minutes and then everything would work again - for about a month. The watch band broke after about ten months, I don’t think I am particularly hard on my various devices so this was annoying as a new band is $50. I didn’t set up any of the music or payment options, but given the flaky implementation of the other smart phone apps I am sure this would have been another source of ongoing disappointment. So the Fitbit ionic has sold me on the benefits of a smart watch, however it was unreliable and lasted less than two years. My Casio G Shock has been in the bottom draw and still works fine so this will deputise till I select replacement, most likelyeither be a Garmin or an iWatch.Purchased in February 2021 for $399.00.

Unreliable, buggy
Bought this a bit over 12 months ago from Harvey Norman. I gave up on it about 6 months later because during a sync it came up with the dreaded red 'X' Sync and try again message that so many people have complained about, which basically turns the watch into an expensive brick. I've since tried everything on the online forums to fix this but to date no one has found a solution besides getting it replaced by Fitbit - if they're that lucky. It's such a shame because it's a lovely watch and I really can't afford to fork out on another one. I wouldn't recommend it.

Fitness tracker with some Smart Watch Features
If you are looking for a good Fitness Tracker with some smart watch features then this is a good buy. The Ionic is quite stylish and also has heaps of screen face options. The most important feature for me is the long battery of 4-5 days and the option to sleep with to capture the sleep patterns. There are some smart basic watch features like call pickup, email and text notifications and Fitbit pay. This isn’t a complete smart watch like Apple watch as it lacks apps and calling features.

Features are great, watch breaks and is unreliable. Would not buy a Fitbit product again
I was giving one of these for a gift. I chose the Fitbit ionic over the iwatch due to the long battery life.
I was happy with the watch until the heart rate monitor broke. After many frustrating phone calls with customer service and jumping through many hoops they offered to replace my watch as they were satisfied that HR monitor has stopped working.
The second watch lasted around 5 months when it started missing time, it was always slow, sometimes I’d wake up and it had lost up to an hour overnight. I found a watch that would give unreliable...Read more
time constantly to be pointless to wear particularly at work. Once again customer service made me try every reset and app update under the sun, even tried to make me set it to different time zones. They also asked me to provide photos of my watch and iPhone being out of sync for proof. I feel as though they give you the run around hoping to wear you out so you give up, their responses via email are deliberately slow. These products seem very unreliable, I can assure everyone this is the first and last Fitbit product I will ever purchase. Avoid at all costsPurchased in December 2021 at Bing Lee for $399.00.

Good Quality fitness tracker
I got an offer from JB hifi to buy this for $100 discount. I was looking at iWatch but felt it was too expensive. I find that this Fitbit ionic is so much better than the previous model. It is securely attached to the strap. The stats are accurate. I find it convenient that I don’t have to bring my phone if I only want to track my steps or even the weather. The only con I find is that I can’t reply to message or talk if I answer the call (still need the iPhone)

Smart Watch with a Faulty Design. Goodbye Fiibit
This watch became my everyday accessory. I worn this fitbit all day long with the purpose of being active, for instance, pushing myself to do more active activity, checking my sleep quality, paying my coffee or other stuff, and so on. However, a little silly problem always annoyed me was a wristband design or a charging connector.
The wristband looked cheap with low quality, easily broken, and way too expensive for a new spare one. I can't spend over $40 for a spare band from Fitbit so I bought a cheap one from online store. It turned out not ...Read more
too bad. Now I am having a problem when I put a watch back to a magnetic charger. It became a hassle because it doesn't recharge I have to move the connector in and out until I see the that it is charging. very very disappointing with a big price tag smart watch. Functionality was great I cannot complain because I have been on Fitbit product since 2013 (first fitbit). I am hoping the next generation of Fitbit will improve the functionality and no more poor design wristband. I would love to see better material in next gen. Edit: 01/08/2019 I have decided to return the Fitbit Ionic and say goodbye for this brand for good. I didn't do this because my angst but I have been loyal to the brand and always believed that Fitbit will be focusing on the quality of the material and design. Since I remember my very first smartwatch was fitbit Tracker, Fitbit Alta, Fitbit Charge and last one Fitbit Ionic. Now I think I am sorry to say Goodbye Fitbit forever.Purchased in January 2021 at Officeworks Online store for $397.00.

This isnt a question, but I would like to offer a solution to those who are having trouble with syncing issues.
I was starting to recently get issues syncing, eg. "looking for device" or "device not found" and could not get sleep data for the last 2 nights.
On the phone, go to: Settings - Apps - Fitbit - Storage - Clear cache
then all of a sudden the sleep data appeared from the last 2 nights when I got back into the Fitbit App.
As a side note, I am disappointed that the phone is not smart enough to turn off the auto-on feature while sleeping. So I turned it off and never use the feature anymore. The benefit is that it now saves a significant amount of battery as it no-longer unnecessarily or accidentally turns on with each wrist movement.

Update ... warranty rejected. Solution? .., buy another IONIC from an authorised reseller, substitute the faulty watch and ask for your money back ! Problem solved.
