Cannot kill this cheapo legend
Bought 2007 model as ex demo. Has no bells and whistles thus my mechanic says it will go forever. So far put 178000kms on it and going strong. Pretty good on fuel.

my mum likes the car but it has its faults

ut 5 minutes of driving later. this went on for a little while and the speedo wouldnt always stay not working after turning off and on again. we ended up getting it put on a friends obdii reader which showed a speed sensor issue so we tried getting the sensor and after alot of searching and my mum learning to turn the car off and on again while still driving we found the 100 sensor but after having it replaced my mum immediatly moved from the gold coast to melbourne and she didnt even get halfway before it stopped working again and now the speedo never works at all and my mum simply doesnt have the money to keep replacing the sensor every hundred or so kms so she has just mastered to get it off and on again in a matter of seconds and she uses waze to tell how fast shes going. she is not keeping the car because after the trouble we went through with the speed sensor and a run in with a cow she has decided she needs a 4wd. this car was great but it has too many little electrical faults like the sensor and the ciggarette lighter refuses to work despite fuses being changed and the aux input droppes in and out depending on what gear your in. but it was excellent on fuel despite being driven up a mountain daily and the handling and acceleration was not what you expect in a 1.61 comment

Doing OK so far 2006 model 126,000km
Mine is a 2006 manual 3 door hatch. Bought it at 17000km and is now 126,000km. Prior to 100k the engine and all electronics all cut out twice on the highway. Had to replace an electronics component (over $300) which apparently is a common repair. No more issues. Had a major service at 100k and replaced brakes at 115k. Fan belt stripped at around the same mileage and had to be replaced. No other issues with the car other than right from when i first owned it, getting it into reverse gear often results in grinding of the gears and takes several g...Read more
oes to get it into reverse gear. Alos in the last 6 months the car has become very noisy on the road which is enough for me consider trading it in. Otherwise it has not been a bad car and may hold on to it for a while longer.

What a ripper
I love this little car, I originally purchased it as a runabout, while my daughter is getting her Learners, now I don’t think I want to give it up. It is so reliable, timing belt intervals are at 150k its amazing. My uses 6.6l per 100km so it costs next to nothing to commute and I do 600km a week as I’m the family soccer dad so I do school runs, and take the kids to all their after school activities. This car is my daily driver so I wasn't overly keen on going turbo. I love turbo cars but the need for expensive oil plus limited km between changes has put me off. Add the 98 RON fuel requirement and it starts to add up. Fine for a weekend blaster but for a daily driver it's just not worth it IMHO. 000km oil changes and only needs 95 RON fuel. So I can use the cheaper-than-regular E10/94 RON. Win for the tight posterior! If you're after something that's fun to drive without breaking the bank the XR4 is hard to beat. Proper made in Germany too. Good solid car - how the Germans used to do it. Supposedly developed by the Ford mob in Europe that do all the "ST" variants. So it gets a proper working over rather than a set of stripes and a plastic badge. Firmer shocks, close ratio gearbox, better wheels mit low profile rubber, bigger engine with custom mapping, lighter flywheel and decent seats. I'm not usually a big fan of Ford cars but it seems the Euro stuff is OK. It certainly doesn't have the "designed by a kindergarten class" interior so common to other Fords I've been unfortunate enough to sit in. It's never gonna win "best interior" but, like the rest of the car, it's solid and functional. Except for the seats, which are just plain wonderful - they've managed to nail the brief of comfortable but supportive. Why can't all cars have seats like these?!Similar opinion? I love this car and would recommend it to anyone thinking of getting one, to my mind it handles well and gives good fuel economy. As a driver it is comfortable, gives good driver feedback and starts on the first turn of the key. As I stated before, it's also a good looking little car with a happy face and a smart rear.

I have had this car since it was new. It has been a great car with no mechanical problems. The only problems I have had with the car are more to do with the dealer rather than the car itself. It is very reliable, cheap to run and maintain. The interior looks modern and considering what you pay for the vehicle it is fitted out well. The seats are firm, yet comfortable and there is plenty of leg room in the back seat. I would be happy to recommend this car.

Great little car
I wasn't really planning to buy but i went looking just to research the price and what to expect from a small car as i planned to buy the following year. I took it to test drive and was impressed with how solid it felt. It doesn't feel like I was flying light like other small cars that i test-drove before. . This car can be a fierce thing especially at corner. Too many times I saw from my rear view mirror that I easily lose a bogan tailgater at a turn of the road. Handling really well for a small car especially at corners. It is a little heavier compared to a Japanese car of the same range but it has more torque so this evens out the weight of this car when it comes to performance. When you close the door, the noise gives off solid car feel. The horn - it honks! (not "hinks":) It is responsive for a small car. Fact that it doesn't mind unleaded fuel. The dashboard looks good for its price - it doesn't look plasticie. The sun visor on the driver's side comes with mirror - this is really great for female driver (not that you should put make up on while you drive). The front seat actually supports the lower back if you tilt it back a little. This model came with tyres that are slightly wider than small cars from other makes and with 15" wheels while other makes only gave 14". It looks reasonably cool already even with a base model. This is one of the strong points that led me to buy Fiesta. The rearview mirror can be pulled apart. I guess it'll save you a little bit of money if you have to replace your windscreen but it can become loose and shakey while you drive. I wish they put something in the middle as I like to lean my left elbow when stationary. The windscreen is so tall (from top to bottom) that it's so hard to find a windscreen shade that will fit. Being a small car the frame can be in your way when you look out the windscreen while cornering. The boot space is a little tight. One luggage and a small carry-on are all it can take - but you couldn't expect more from a small car ey.. Wish the car would come with rear speakers :) Another cons but that's normal for a small car including other makes - space saver. Why does the world need space saver?!Similar opinion? I've own my (2007) Fiesta for 3 weeks and I'm pretty impressed with it. It's got plenty of zip and a very responsive gearbox and engine. On long trips (Wollongong to Sydney) I've found that my legs feel cramped and they get a little claustrophobic.
The car feels very solid on the road at high speeds (120-130kmph)and handles very well. When cornering at speed it's like a little crab and you feel hardly any body roll. This is a 'drivers' car. It imparts a feeling of sportiness and enjoys being pushed a little.

s would be expected. I only use V-Tec Power fuel in my Fiesta and I suggest you do the same. It's a bit more expensive (OK, a lot. Currently $1.61L) than regular fuel but the performance payoff is worth it. Overall, I highly recommend this little dyno of a car. It's fun to drive and you'll feel like you're driving a quality vehicle. However, if you are any taller than me (6.1'), it might not be a great choice if you plan on long distance driving. It feels well built and solid. The engine is eager to please. The seats are comfortable.The dash is well laid out everything is easily reachable.Feels roomy inside for a small car. (I'm 6.1')Good stock stereo.Fuel economy. There is no foot rest which can become a pain on a long drive.Not much space for the drivers legs. This is probably only an issue for most guys. I love my '06 zetec. I have had it for 2 years now and intend to keep it for another 2 years. It's quick, suprisingly fast, very roomy & has a great sound system. All my friends love it and you will not find a better car for the money!
Very zippy, economical with petrol, great stock sound system, value for money.
Not too happy that the back seats go forward but not backwards into the boot (making a big bed!). Also, the passenger side seat is quite hard. Would be MUCH better if the seats were electrial as it's very annoying & tiring to constantly have to turn the handle to move the seats.

Had since new. Fantastic car and will buy another one if they bring out a new XR4 model. Never had a single problem.
XR4 - Everything. Best Car I've had. Drives like it's on tracks. Bang for buck - has everything. Heaps of poke.

I bought a late 2006 Zetec, manual 3dr hatch and although it wasn't first off the rank at traffic lights, it's zippy and fun to drive. I had multiple problems with bubbles in the tint and had to get it redone several times - but that's more than likly due to the tint person doing a poor job.
Great alternative to other small cars.
Compact, zippy, fuel efficient, lots of room in the back seat, reliable
Cheap plastic interior, loud cabin noise at high speeds, rear vision not so great

The Ford Fiesta is a nice car. It is a car that drives well and will take you to you destination safely with its safety features. It is not too small nor too big and it fits for a a person living in or near the city. It can seat 5 people easily and will still leave a room for some luggage at the back. It is reasonably priced for its size without necessarily looking cheap. Driving the Ford Fiesta is easy and comfortable. The controls are without complications. Parking is not a problem because of its maneuverability and relatively small size. It is a good car.
Simple yet elegant, small yet spacious.
Slow to accelerate.

Excellent little car for the money, hard pressed to find anything better in this class, not really a highway car but good as a general runabout round town.
Quality of the product overall is excellent, not much to complain about with the Fiesta.
Looks great, good quality, excellent paintwork, good fit and finish, handles well.
Rather coarse engine, revs too high in 5th gear (needs a 6th cog), seats are not overly comfortable.

The "Ford Fiesta" is a wonderful car. It is one of the bigger small cars in its range. My husband originally wanted to buy a very big 4WD ute because he is a truck driver and he loves big cars, but when he tried this car he completely changed his mind. My neighbour also did the same. he had an old 1980's fuel guzzling giant, and now he absolutely loves his little Ford Fiesta. I would recommend this car to anyone. It is great for longer drives on the weekend and everyday trips to work. You also have a great choice of extra's when you purchase this car.

Toyota Corollas can go into the 300s for mileage and possibly beyond.

Sorry cannot be much help. Due to hear box problem sold our Fiesta with about 25k on clock. Servicing was about 250 each year. Apart from gearbox car was good.
