an OK get around car
brought a 2009 focus 170,000 km on the clock started off a pretty smooth ride. very spacious hit the 180,000 mark & the engine mount collapsed & has started jumping out of gear with a flutter in the clutch.not great on fuel on short trips a lot better on the hwy.overall it does the job that can be expected of a $4000 car.
Purchased in February 2021 for $4,000.00.

Get the Diesel LT TDCI
I brought a one owner (local government) 2.0 liter diesel 6sp manual with 155K on it for $3000 from a dealer in Adelaide. Its been a fantastic buy. I do a mix of small city driving at 50km/h (←6l/100km), 100-110 km/h (5.3l/100km) and 130ish km/h in the outback (7.1l/100km and yes its still legal in our more cultured territories). Amazing highway acceleration... Better than a Falcon for overtaking road trains. The turbo comes in smooth and strong from about 1500rpm with heaps of torque ... Its so nice. Excellent handling and a comfortable ride ...Read more
( although not Fairlane standard ). Its simple to do basic maintenance such as oil changes. Easy to park etc and can tow a good sized trailer or mid sized caravan. Unfortunately it has a stupid "emergency" spare tyre and no reversing camera from the factory. Overall the 2008 diesel Focus is such an underrated car and wonderful second hand value if you don't mind changing gears.Purchased in February 2021 for $3,000.00.

Heaps of Tiny little issues that just scream imperfection and 1 Big issue
Background - 2008 Ford Focus CL LS, bought brand new.
Positives - Nimble, Small, quit quick.
Negatives - Interior has started to fall apart. Mirror is rusting around the edges, back of rear seat glue has separated, gear knob broke, gear sleave broke, radio plug keeps falling off, heater core went just before the 3 year warranty finished. Air box filter screws broke the plastic, light bulbs keep blowing, plastic under radiator fell off on highway, paint has started pealing on the roof, top engine mount has been replaced twice other wise there is a horrible rattle and shake.
Options I should have gotten was cruise control instead we got paint protection which had a lifetime warranty that they don't honour.

Very good second hand car
The driving experience is very good. Handles surprisingly well for a ten year old car. Can be a bit loud while driving but that is to be expected.
My model is the ghia which has leather seats which are great but suffers a bit in the heat. The aux is in the dash which is a bit awkward as well
Currently costing around 100 dollars of 98 fuel a month, half yearly service just under 300 dollars and registration renewal which 600 dollars.

Where do I start. This car was so bad I only kept it 3 months. The car was in nice condition, straight body, interior was in new condition. 120,000km on the clock only. Wasn't cheap either. Drove fine when I bought it but turned out to be rubbish. Gave it a service like I do with all new purchases and found plug 4 full of oil. Valve gasket was leaking. Replaced it ... 3 times before we gave up. With good quality genuine rubber gaskets, cleaned up and installed it still leaked. Rear passenger wheel bearing started making a horrible noi...Read more
se two weeks after I bought it. Replaced it with a brand new complete hub. Then it developed a clunking clicking noise from the rear ... never did discover what that was. Trans started slipping when it was cold. It would hang onto first for a good minute before letting go into second. A flush and service did not help. Replaced all of the brakes with good quality disks and pads. Car still did not pull up straight and the hand brake light started coming on randomly. Brake fluid was not low. Car had so many little rattles and squeaks it drove me nuts. And it was rough on the road. Not cheap to run either. I got rid of it before I had to spend any more on it and bought a Toyota Camry 5 years older and 30,000 more km and it's a 1000 times better car.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

great car
I really love this vehicle and will miss it when i trade it in, in the next few weeks(need a ute). The handling and fuel economy are fantastic, a real delight to drive. And the gear box is truly marvelous. Had the TDCI LT 2007 since new, and not had any issues what so ever, I mean not a thing has needed repair or fix. Rock solid vehicle. This vehicle was my introduction to the world of Stability control, and i HIGHLY recommend this on any new vehicle you buy, it's literally the HAND of GOD when driving, a deadset life saving tool. IF you're goi...Read more
ng to buy the current LV model diesel DO IT, you wont be sorry. Do your self a favour and grab the 6 speed manual, it makes for fun driving. Excellent fuel economy(diesel), excellent handling. The best gear box i have ever used(6 speed). A really good vehicle. Tyre noise in chipped bitumen. Need a special tool to get sump plug out. IF you blow a headlight they have to take out the front end to change a globe!!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Lottery as to what you get. 2008 Focus LX Hatch Auto. Bought 2 of them.
My wife's Focus hassafety issue with accelerator. Surges forward quickly until driven for a while, then the accelerator sticks while going around roundabouts. Accelerating up our driveway is a nightmare & quite frightening. Had it back to Ford dealer many times. Ford head office maintains the same response, "It is just an acceptable variation in the model. Bring back the cable controlled accelerators.
My Focus does not have this problem & drives well. Had to replace driver's side carpet under warrant. They removed the seat. Had to ta...Read more
ke the car back to dealer many times before the seat would stop making noise. There seems to be a mould that grows on both cars rubber where the windows are. Dealer had it removed but comes back over time. I will not purchase another Ford vehicle again. Ford company avoids it's responsibility to correct safety faults with the accelerator. Seems to have been an issue with Toyota cars early 2000's when introducing sensor controls for accelerator instead of the cable. Not impressed Accelerator sensor, Poor response from Ford, mould on rubber around windows on the inside.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Just got it and love it
Just bought a 2007 model, first registered in 2008, and couldn't be happier. What a terrific car, down to the leather interior, terrific hard top, 6 stacker cd player, heated seats, rear view mirror that adjusts according to following vehicles lights, rain censored wipers, electric seat adjustment, huge boot space even with the roof down, cruise control, audio adjustment on steering wheel, etc.
Just about everything, it is a terrific car.
Just a little underpowered for a 2L car, but at least it will be harder to speed.

Good
I'm pleased I purchased this car and continue to be happy with my decision, it has performed well and has lived up to my expectations.
Comfort, very high equipment levels, handles great, stylish, rarity, competitively priced, inexpensive to run and maintain.
Whilst in high pressure carwashes I notice a few small drips coming from above the drivers side window... although drivers manual advises against accessing these washes. I have owned this car for eight months and have not experienced roof leakage during rain, although I understand this is a common problem with folding metal roof convertibles.

Is there any difference between the 2007 and 2008 models? I am looking at both with view to buy, but can't see any difference.

Hi Brian, Sorry but I am unable to answer your question, as I am not sure. However I would have to say that one year on since I bought my 2007 model and still absolutely love it - terrific car, thanks
