It never actually let me down on the side of the street, but it has way too many issues - STAY AWAY!
Performance - average
Handling - a bit uncomfortable
Noise - diesel, so not the smoothest ride
Major issues - Erratic behavior of the automatic transmission - QUITE UNSAFE
-Blowing black smoke - had to take it to the service shop under warranty at least 4 times before it stopped blowing black smoke that would get in the cabin.
Minor issues - Cruise control broke and I fixed under warrranty. It would never last more than 3 months, I would have to go again.
-Window auto down/up works intermittently
-Rear bumper bar are two sides that always come off - I had to reattach a few times.
-Floor mat holders (driver side) broke (cheap Chinese Plastic) within the first 6 months.

Better fuel economy than LPG
I drive 210km per day to work because I get paid good money, but the company won't allow anyone to work from home, even though we could. Sound familiar? I live so far away from work because I couldn't afford a house closer. Public transport isn't an option because it takes 3.5 hours doing Bus/Train/Bus. I want to see my family.
I've been driving factory fitted LPG Falcon Wagons for over 10 years due to their economy and room for large loads. But as Falcons are no longer sold I had to find an alternative. Looked at LPG Holden Wagon Cruze, Com...Read more
modores and a few others. Until I discovered Diesel. No one ever told me Diesel was so fuel efficient. It blew me away. I get 1,100km per 65 Litres on one fill up! vs LPG 650km per tank fill. I'm now spending half the time at the petrol station. My Mondeo has now done 260,000km. No mechanical issues, though you do go through brake pads & rotors faster or Ford service could be ripping me off? I'm told the brakes use softer compounds to increase braking power which results in quicker wear. Though I did 80,000km off the rear pads compared to 120,000km on the Falcon. At 80,000km Ford said I needed to replace REAR rotors until I pointed out that they changed them last time with the pads. 80,000km on rear rotors. I don't think so. Then later that day they said they could machine them. Ford ? $$$ Hmmm. I would have moved to Diesel years ago had I know about its economy. As for diesel servicing costs, cheaper than petrol cars because you don't have to service fuel injectors, they don't have them. The Ford Mondeo wagon's rear room size is the same as the LPG Falcon. Bearing in mind the Falcon has the spare tyre standing up in the back because of the LPG tanks. So no tyre in Mondeo equals same space. The Mondeo Diesel can tow a 5.5m aluminium boat. Mondeo has plenty of guts, BUT it does have something called Turbo-Lag. Sometimes at intersections you put your foot down and nothing happens for a few seconds. Then all of the sudden the engine wakes up and the wheels spin and you take off. It's a Turbo-Diesel thing I'm told. For me it's an issue when you're trying to whip out into a gap in heavy traffic. The "whip part" can sometimes not happen. You roll out. Anyway for me I just drive with that in mind and when it happens try not to be in anyone's way. I drive 50/50 freeway/city. I would definitely buy an another Mondeo Diesel, provided a bunch of University Graduates haven't altered the newer models and stuffed something up. Believe me, I've lost count of have many times something great has been turned to crap in the name of change. So make sure the reviews you're looking at are the same model car.Similar opinion? Forget about an SUV - get the Mondeo wagon
Purchased a 2012 TDCi wagon. Fabulous car for fuel economy & great safety rating. Drove Melbourne to Cairns, cost only $220 in diesel. Great with overtaking & on the open road. Not as smooth to drive around town, but only making this comparison to my previous vehicle (2012 Ford XR6). A very spacious, reliable, & trouble free vehicle. Had looked at SUV's in the same catagory, however price & vehicle boot size couldn't be compared. These wagons are fantastic value for money.

Great family wagon
Purchased second hand due to needing a wagon and better safety rating than our older car. The diesel is fume free, economical and quiet. I had to get used to the blinker being on the wrong side for Australia. The seat is very comfortable front and back, suitable for large and small people.

Ford Mondeo Station Wagon Feedback
My car is economical to run, and runs well, particularly well on the open road and long distances. However, it has now come up with a problem. When I drive over 80km, a message comes up on the dashboard." Transmission Auto Limited"
I have had it serviced every 10,000 kms and an auto transmission service at 50,000 kms. Codes have been hard to find and Ford had to drive it 60kms and over 80kms to find them. They corrected the codes and replaced the module under the gear stick and then it seemed it should be OK but the message came up on the ...Read more

Compact family wagon
Sleek looking compact wagon. Has all the trimmings including voice activated audio and cd player. Sea ts are comfortable with a good fabric and look. Tends to wear passenger rear tyre quicker than the rest. Excellent mileage on long runs. Electric windows with plenty of leg room. Perfect for the small family. Ample space in the bag for luggage or shopping.

Beautiful, simple car.
Just bought a 2011 Mondeo with 18,000 kms on it. Just like it came off the show floor. A little under power for a wagon but great to drive and sticks to road like glue. Nice driving position and plenty of leg room for the whole family. Huge boot space and a lot of options in car for anyone who needs them.
Had it serviced last week by Ford (very competitive on price), no issues.
Overall a nice, cheap to run second car.

This is a review for a 2011 Ford Mondeo 2.0 ltr TDI wagon.
I purchased this vehicle with a full service history in January 2015, it had 90,000 kms on the clock.
The Mondeo has now covered 123,000 kms. Aside from service items, it has had a filter in the steering fluid reservoir unblocked, at a cost of $50. There is no sign of corrosion on the bodywork
It has very comfortable positive handling. Very quiet, plenty of load space, extremely economical at 6.3 ltrs per 100kms average. It was fitted with new cheap Achilles tyres, these lasted for 3...Read more

Great economy
Bought a 2nd hand Mondeo 2012 Diesel wagon with 145,000 km with good body condition. It is very economical to run average tank 860km city driving. Had heard about transmission problems but made sure the car had an up to date service history and bought from a dealer not privately to give me the added warranty protection. My wife loves driving it. The 6 speed power shift transmission is intuitive when driving and has great pulling power up hills which for a 2 litre is excellent much better than my other car which is a 3.8 litre Mitsubishi. Very glad I bought it.

Generally good
Bought the car with 75000ks and drove for 25000ks. The car is solidly built and handles well. Engine is smooth with plenty of torque.Fuel economy was great averaging 6.3 during all types of driving. I found the transmission at times hesitant particularly when accelerating in traffic and this was a little disconcerting. The air con is terrible, nowhere near as cold as it should be.

It's a ripper!
I had reservations but a couple of months into ownership it's proved to be a ripper. I believe it's sharing its 2.0L diesel engine with Peugeot and Citroen - the Ford uses their own transmission (Powershift) which is well matched. I came from a 4.0L Ford and this drives with a more responsive powerful feel. Finish is what you'd expect from a Ford. Has all the mod cons such as ACC and Sensors to make my drive safe. I'm averaging over 1000km for a tank (60L), so REALLY economical. On the road it handles really well, surefooted and tracking beautifully. Heaps of space, easy to use. Long trip a breeze, smooth and comfortable. Looks pretty good, feels strong - overall I'm happy.

Supposed to replace, but nowhere near as good as, Falcon
UPDATE 20th April 2017: Another same spec Mondeo at my workplace had the transmission replaced!
Punchline: one owner, serviced at Ford regularly, automatic transmission replaced after only 75,000 km.
I really have to draw a comparison with my previous car, Ford Falcon, especially because this is supposed to replace it.
The good: When I first got the Mondeo, being my first diesel ever, I was surprised how quick it was. It is supremely comfortable. Huge luggage area (being a station wagon), for the first time ever I don't need to fit a roo...Read more

Great Family Car
I have had this car now for over 3 years. In that time I have had no warranty issues. Mileage with the diesel engine is consistently around 1,000km per tank, which is outstanding. The power, drive ability, handling and cornering are exceptional for a wagon. Interior has plenty of room for 5 adults comfortably. Rear seats can be folded down which gives you a massive amount of space. Headlights are poor but have changed the bulbs to more powerful ones and that fixed the issue. Although Ford has fixed price servicing the diesel services are q...Read more
uite expensive. October 19th 2018 Update: Awesome car I have had my 2011 MC Mondeo 2 litre Diesel Wagon for over 5 years. In that time I have only had 1 issue with the car. It had a major coolant leak that Ford took a while to detect what the cause was. They eventually fixed it and it hasn't been an issue since. I have had no other problems with my car. The handling and performance of the Mondeo is great. It is has lots of low down torque and heaps of power on the open road. The Mondeo is a great all round family car.Similar opinion? Be careful of Auto Transmission in Diesels
The company I work for ran these cars for about 5 years all wagons starting with petrol models before the diesels were available then the diesels until the new MD was released (Using Golf's now). All in all a good car, the diesel had plenty of power with bucket loads of torque. I found it comfortable and appointed ok for a base model. No auto head lights was my main gripe. Only a few issues over the years, the auto's have given us constant problems on a number of Vehical including mine. Had the auto computer re flashed a number of times which ...Read more
eventually helped the issue, but by then the damage was done. Clutches were slipping when cruising in high gears, used to be a long delay when taking off from a standing start and when changing gears it used to grind gears. Another car has just had the auto rebuilt at approx 30,000 km. Also had 3 engines destroy themselves approx $10,000 repair bill each time, 2 due to lack of servicing and 1 engine failure under warranty. The first 2 missed 2 services, that's all.Similar opinion? Very Happy with the Car!
Bought my Mondeo last month after I read the reviews here. Bought a company fleet 2010 Diesel Turbo Wagon MC and its quite economical but also has lots of power. The interior build quality is extremely good and feels very strong and classy. The dashboard although good could have been given a more modern look. The white colour looks good as Ford sells them with free premium paint. Did a 400 km highway trip and used just about 20 litres (5L/100 kms) of diesel so its extremely economical if you do highway trips. City driving yields around 7L-9L ...Read more
per 100 kms depending on where you drive and the traffic. Never considered the petrol version so I am not sure how it compares. Always wanted the diesel turbo version as I wanted the car to be good at towing and economical. Pros: + Economical + Lots of Torque + Build quality is very good Cons: Slight Lag during pickup (only applies to diesel version I believe)Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Good Car BUT.....
My Car is a new 2010 Dec build, on the road in Feb 2011 Diesel Zetec wagon.
Presently I have 31000 km on the clock and thinking seriously of updating to a new one or a Diesel Territory TS.
Resale on both in both is terrible though, so the Hyundai Highlander could be a better choice in 3 years from now.
Only warranty issue was a dealer replacement of something like a EGR valve near the turbo unit. Came up a warning alarm when the motor was running for 10 minutes from cold. That was at 20 000Km and seems OK since.
In 35 C weather, the aut...Read more
o doesn't fully disengage when stopped, or crawling forward - it 'pulses' forward. Like the oils has become too thin. Engine temp is OK. Enough to be put into neutral at traffic lights to ease clutch plate wear issues seems prudent action to take. Only occurs for a few days at peak Summer temperatures though.Similar opinion? Good Car spoilt by Clutch and Water Leak
The have a 2011 Diesel PowerShift Mondeo Wagon, has travelled 100,000km. The car is very comfortable and fuel efficient. Has great towing power. Unfortunately mine has had its clutches replaced twice, once at 60000KM and then again at 80,000. Still shudders in reverse gear.
The water leak - the car has leaked from new, has been back 4 times for different fixes. In every instance the leaks remain. The car leaks water from the drivers side vanety light and down the passenger side C pillar. Previous the Air Conditioning drain hose was dislodge...Read more
d and also not correctly tightened. They cleaned out the sun roof drain holes (wanted to charge me $600 for that, how I am supposed to clear then is beyond me) the last time. I have just removed part of the roof lining to get at the roof rack rails - I lifted them and placed Sika Flex around the 3 holes in the roof. I contacted the service centre by email requesting a meeting with Ford representative - still waiting for a reply. Also the dealer fitted tow bar nearly feel off as the right hand side retaining bolts where not tightened correctly. I was just north of Gladstone QLD towing a very expensive trailer and two $30,000 boats. Very disappointing as it is such a nice car.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

One of the best Fords on the market
I have owned this car for 18 months (Zetec model). It drives and handles really nicely, like a much more expensive european car. The build quality is good, and am still happy with it 18 months on. Servicing costs are reasonable and the fuel economy is around 6-7 litres per 100 around the city.
Drive and handling
Windscreen wipers really expensive to replace around $90

Awesome Car
What an absolute joy to drive. Luxurious and well appointed. Unbelievable fuel economy from the powerful diesel engine. Get over 1000klm per tank. The features are astounding and what you would expect in a car costing three times as much. A beautiful looking car with great proportions that often solicits positive comments from passers by.
Adaptive cruise control and keyless start
Build quality a little below par
