Great little work horse
Vehicle inspection by mechanic well worth $$$
2007 2.4 litre diesel swb van which has done 100km since purchased.
Have replaced waterpump. I keep it serviced at 10km intervals.
A pleasure to drive, zippy little machine, economical and handles couriering just fine.
Stepped out of a VW crafter and prefer my transit.

Tyre wear due to fault Ford can't seam to detect.
At just over 17000km I had to replace the front Tyres on my Jumbo Transit, the wear was down to the metal on the front tyres on the inside on the off side wheel and not far behind on the near side.
The ford dealership I purchased it from are trying hard to correct the fault but Ford Australia don't seam able to help.
I bought this van new in good faith and feel gutted as it is off the road to much be analysed but to date there is no remedies, fixes from Ford.
I picked a Ford Transit jumbo for its economic value and load carrying rating. On...Read more

The best all round car I have ever owned
Bought a new 280 Low Roof MWB FWD in 2012. Fitted windows all round, folding rear seat, fans & insulation & lining to rear cargo area. This is my daily driver & family wagon & work van. Very comfortable ride, handles extremely well, does NOT drive like a van. Would I buy another one? Most definitely.
Faults - the front passenger bench seat is a little too upright for real comfort
- small leak from power steering column at 60,000km and 5th gear shredded at 65,000km. Both fixed under warranty by Lane Ford, with no hassle from Ford Australia - excellent service from both parties.

Turbo problems
Van runs perfect until you hook up and tow it gets a gear like warning light that relates to petrol engines but its a 2.4 turbo diesel, turbo shuts down and has no power, taken to ford dealers they are useless also clutch pedal has no pressure after long drive but fine if driven short term

New Ford Transit Custom Van, first 1000Km review.
Hello, Got my new van on Thursday and a week later I've managed to put 1000Km on it.
Now, I have to state this, the company I work was paying for it and it didn't have any major budget restriction, so even the high end Vito was considered.
Let me start, I've always said I'd never buy a Ford, but, as I was looking around, it became clear this van was the only one that would fit everything I needed in the short wheel base variant.
I've looked at the Transporter, which is my old van and I loved the engine, had the twin turbo diesel 2.5L and I...Read more
would say it had plenty of power, put over 250,000Km in about 4 years and the only major problem was an oil leak which was fixed for about $1,000, BUT, as I said, I could not fit everything I wanted. Looked at just about everything that was available, from the Toyota HiAce through the Mercedes Benz Vito. What I ended up getting is the short wheel base with the City Pack option. For starters, it is comfortable, just done a daily Sydney-Canberra-Sydney with a couple of jobs in the middle and my back is happy. It has plenty of cup holders, I need to keep hydrated, so I drink lots of water, they're place handy and out of sunlight, so it doesn't get warm if you leave a few hours in the sun, unlike thew old Transporter.Similar opinion? Ford Transit VM Dual wheel jumbo. An excellent delivery van
We run an urgent freight transport business delivering newspapers from print site to newsagents 7 nights/week. Purchased a new 2.4ltr dual wheeled jumbo Transit 4 years ago. Has been used constantly on multi drop runs (usually 30 drops per run) as well as regional and some interstate overnight work usually at maximum load.
After 180,000klm we have had no breakdowns and no major problems. For a big van it is a dream to drive, plenty of torque, silky smooth 6 speed box, comfortable and all the electronic controls to keep it and the driver safe

Don't buy get something else
Owned it from new 2010 model to date have had gearbox replace under warranty twice in the last 12 months rear seals replaced four times tail shaft yoke twice and still no answers from ford they have claimed it's wear and tear car has travelled 197000 k's I know that is a lot but as the car has only been used for long distance driving and carrying no load or towing I think that maybe there's a issue with the six speed manual don't your self a favour buy something else
Engine power is good for a turbo diesel

awesome
I have had my 2010 transit for 6 months and very happy with it so far. I have my own plumbing business, the transit pulls through with flying colours, it is always fully load and when it needs tow a trailer it dose it with ease. The transit has a good balance off power and fuel efficiency.
Plenty of room in cab and cargo area, a pleasure to drive.
Parts are a little expensive for a ford, a little more power would be great.

Junk.
Where to start? Brake rotors; twice. EGR valve, twice; water pump. I bought this van for it's carrying capacity and it can definitely take the weight I put in it...but it's just not worth the grey hair. It's one of the most unreliable vehicles I have ever owned. I used to like Fords...not anymore.
Load capacity. It has a barn doors option. It has very good rear visibility. Good fuel economy on the diesel.
Unreliable. It's a money pit. The standard jack included with my transit, won't lift the car high enough to change the tyre.

000 4 years ago today this haice van would be 90,000 kms and value as $21,000 as today. Warning to the buyers don't buy ford transit van over 60,000kms and part cost you 4 times more, because you have to exchange to UK english pound money of the value to buy parts from Ford. Forget transit. Most mechica said don't buy this, very expensive parts and rubbish plastics parts. Excellent for large loads and deliveries boxes, etc excellent for the festivals Ford Transit 1997 model to 2001 model very bad van, either 2002 to 2005 model, very bad mechicals, eats your money a lot, cost us $15,500 dollars repairs bills.2 comments
