Franke Fragranite Basis BFG 621 Onyx
Currently doing a kitchen renovation and we chose to install a Franke sink. Yes I agree they look great and yes the description sounds like it’s a wise choice so we were sold on it.
Yesterday the tiling around and behind the sink was taking place. Upon cleaning at the end of the day I found a chip/nick along the edge of the sink. I’m not too sure what the tiler has done but I’m left with a chipped sink before even getting to use it. Contacted customer support who were not interested in helping because it isn’t a manufactured fault. I actually i...Read more
nformed them it wasn't a factory fault but I was looking for help if they knew of a way to repair or if I could attempt to fix it with an epoxy... something... only to be told, in short, very short, NO. Pretty much could read their body language through the phone and in the tone of their voice. So, although I don’t know what caused the chip I would assume if a person were to knock cooking pots on the sink there may be a chance it damages it, you may also not BUT it may happen. Something a stainless steel sink will not do. Personally through my own experience before getting to even use my Franke Sink I do not recommend the Franke Basis BFG 621 Fragranite Onyx Sink and unfortunately I cannot recommend Franke because of my experience with their customer service. My opinion, not worth the risk!
Purchased in February 2021 for A$1,200.00.

Great looking sink.
I was doing a Kitchen update / reno that included replacing my sink. We had an enamel sink that would easily mark. After that experience, my wife insisted that we get a stainless steel sink that would not mark…… then I saw this sink. WOW – looks great. I showed my wife and she said “you know what I think of coloured sinks” but the salesman explained this a type of stone (80% quartz sand, 20% hard acrylic resin). It does not mark, it will not stain. We have had it for 8 months and he is right. It still looks great.

right handed, you simply cut the hole for the tap on the side you want it. Service is VERY good. The unit was meant to come with a special drill bit for cutting the tap hole (allows the units to be a left or right setting) but ours was missing. Even so, cutting this hole was making my plumber and I nervous (I had heard that if you get it wrong, you can crack/wreck the sink). I put a call in to the service centre and they agreed to send a drill bit out in the mail to me but I asked if I could come to their warehouse and get them to do it – as I lived only 20mins from their Dandenong warehouse. I was expecting them to say no but they said “sure”. I really had nothing to worry about as it was easy to cut with the right drill bit. Under the sink it has pre-mounted hole cuts to make it easy. I watched them do it in a couple of minutes. Still GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE. If you get this sink, also consider the insinkerator 3in1 Multitap. If you go to their web site – it has that tap with this sink. They are a striking combo. I have put a review up on this product also.

Stylish and sleek
Simple design, great sized tubs of equal size. Doesn’t show water marks and the dark colour keeps it looking clean! Sink came with drill bit to drill hole for tap so didn’t need to purchase parts for installation.

3 months old and rusting
Our $700+ Franke double bowl sink is already rusting and scratched and Franke think this is normal. Not according to Australian Consumer Affairs I'll bet. I was not told this product would look old after only 12 WEEKS. Parkwood Plumbing have been excellent and I would deal with them again not certainly NOT FRANKE.
Sorry I couldn't give them a 1/4 star.
Will be taking the matter further if it is not replaced

Expensive and marks
This product already marks and scratches having only been installed recently. Deeply disappointed with this purchase. Considering I was lead to believe that they had the latest technology I should have purchased another brand being Shock or Blanco.

Franke Granite sink - super classy!
I had my kitchen renovated about 6 months ago and the majority of the comments from my friends is about my sink. Who would have thought my sink would get more raves than the appliances I spent a stack of money on. It not only looks great but is practical and functinal too.
Although I loved the look of the granite, I was worried how it would withstand a family of 5. No need for concern, it still looks like the day it was installed. The salesperson told me Franke was the way to go - thank goodness I listened to them.

Thank god I found FRANKE...
Thank god I found FRANKE's granite sink. My previous sink (different brand - won't name them, but also European) cracked after only 4 months. Although they offered a replacement, I decided that I wasn't up for replacing it again in another 4 months. The FRANKE granite sink is beautiful, hard wearing, plus my friends are so envious. What makes it even better are the accessories - chopping board and rolling up mat.

AMAZING Sink - cleans up beautifully
Love, love, love my new Franke sink, goes beautifully in our new home...... colour is perfect, easy to wipe down and silver knob is sooooooo practical. I must say I did have to find out what purpose the silver knob served....but found it a great idea now I know. Awesome product...5 stars.

Excellent Franki black double sink
I love my franki black sink, easy to keep clean, the silver knob is a great idea for letting the water out of the sink, it looks excellent in my newly renovated kitchen.
It's a shame the three big stores where I looked at the franki sink didn't know what the silver knob was for, I was told it was a cover for where the tap went.
I did a lot of research on the black sinks and YouTube showed me how to clean the franki sink and that's how I found out about the silver knob, that sold me on the franki BFG 621. I give it 10 out of 10!!!!

Beautiful Sink
The most beautiful sink - mine was ruined by the remote waste fitting that I was not aware existed. Useless large silver knob at the front and centre of the sink. Not featured on any of the websites, brochures or showrooms that I looked at. The Australian distributor has told me bad luck, I should have known!

When cleaning our Franke Double Sink overflow we followed the FAQ advice and removed the Logo plates to clean the build up of grime. When you remove the Logo plates you straighten the lugs that hold the plate securely in position, when you try to refit the plates the lugs are inaccessible under the sink. How do you refix the logo plates. ?

I have the double black Frankii sink, the pop up sink plug no longer lifts or fits into place when I turn the metal knob to lower or raise the plug. Anyone else have this issue? How do I fix it?

Never had that issue.
Sorry sally can't help with this problem. We had a stainless steel under bench Franke sink that rusted in 5 weeks, took them a year to refund our money and when it came out it was so rusted around the edges. Won't recommend Franke products to anyone.
Contact Consumer Affairs if the business you purchased it from wont help. In Western Australia the business who sells the product is responsible to either repair or refund your money then get the money back from the manufacturer.
When we purchased a new sink the plumber siliconed the plug surround in place, he said that the seal always fails on Franke sinks and then they leak so he just puts silcone in all the sink surrounds in permanently.

Update on rusting Franke double bowl sink.
more rusty. All the stone bench tops had to be replaced as the Franke sink is a special size and nothing else would fit. We have now purchased a Blanco double bowl sink and it was install 4 weeks ago. No Rust showing. The change over cost us $100 as the Blanco was a little more in price. Thank you Consumer Affairs without you we would still be in discussions with Franke. This rusting sink has cost Franke about $4,500.00 a very, very happy GrannyLeThe rust was worse that what we could see. When the rusting Franke sink was finally removed we saw that the rim, which sticks to the under cupboard was even... Read more
