Impossible to Get Ahead
I was with Qantas FF for over 15 years. Never got upgraded. Never managed to earn enough status points even though flying business. And even when you have 240,000 points you can't book a reward flight on the dates you want or have to fly to Europe via London making the trip 30 hours plus. Was with Virgin just 9 months and was given Gold status but here's the clincher, was upgraded on a recent flight and didn't even ask for it. You can't beat that.

Non Refund of Accommodation During COVID19
We can't get to Scotland due to COVID19. We did purchase non refundable accommodation. But absolutely no refund at all for 2 nights accommodation we can't get to. I would have though the Frequent Flyer Program would let us redeem our points to redeem later. Very disappointed by qantas through COVID. We lose more than 50% of our flights and then are not assisted with the accommodation and then they still fire their staff!!!!!!

Rubbish
Had 35,000 points saved up over about 10 years, went to check on them today to find they had all expired. No email warning or anything. Do not recommend this.

Pointless pursuit of Qantas Frequent flyer points
Its unfortunate there is no zero star option, Qantas shopping is appalling. I purchased an item through Qantas shopping from Sony on 2 December 2022. I received an acknowledgement from Qantas that the item has been purchased and points would be forthcoming within 90 days. Why 90 days is an issue in itself, however after more than 100 days and multiple attempts to obtain assistance from Qantas absolutely nothing. I am not sure what sort of people process the online requests but I have received replies which bear no relationship whatsoever to what I have asked. I had a similar issue with Qantas Wines. Promises of additional points for a large order never materialised. I would not bother dealing with either again.

Hopeless method of delivery to my address
There is a very good reason why some many reviews are one star only. Buying is easy. The delivery service is absolutely hopeless. If you miss the delivery and are referred to a local pickup point where you purchase is held, it is a real nightmare trying to get the purchase from the depot.

using points is almost pointless; very few flights
Unless you're going Syd/Mel, Syd/Bris etc etc points flights are almost impossible to get unless you're Platinum status (which I'm not). So, worth it (don't forget to add the fees though) for the high traffic routes. Although just tried to book Syd/Adel for late March; nothing.
And forget international unless you book a year in advance and prepared to take some off track itineraries.
Qantas said they had released millions and millions of extra seats for FF in it's new re release in Sept 2022. Seems like PR spin.
And as others have said; you'll wait hours to talk to customer service at the Qantas FF phone number.

Unauthorised change of first name
Qantas changed my name without authorisation and have provided no explanation of why it changed. This caused me to have to cancel and rebook the same flight yet still charged fees for their mistake

Booking using frequent flyer points
I am trying to book a flight for a family member using my frequent flyer points but unsuccessful. I contacted customer service and was waiting for nearly 2 hours to get connected. I don't know if Qantas is deliberately trying to frustrate members using points booking.

Loyalty has it's rewards
I fly Qantas infrequently, as I normally look for the cheapest airfare on full service airlines, however, I earn points through retail purchases through affiliated merchants. So, this is in-fact the first time I've redeemed anything through Qantas Frequent Flyer, after saving for many years.
I do subscribe to news and events, and was notified last weekend, about a 50% off for a quality set of headphones. I had enough points for this, during this "sale" so ordered immediately.
I am so happy with this, because, it really IS, something for nothing. My purchases for earning those points would not have changed regardless of joining the rewards program or not. Thank you Qantas Frequent Flyer.

Tried booking flight numerous times - still unsuccessful
I have been trying to book an overseas flight for my family all week but unsuccessful so far.
I have to contact Customer service as I have to book a seat for my infant as this cannot be done online. After giving up on the phone after 1.5h hours wait twice and no useful response from the Qantas messaging on the app...I am unsure if Qantas actually is interested in any new business...They used to be so easy to deal with but this has changed. I feel very frustrated with this....

Contact the ACA (Aviation Customer Advocate) to help with Frequent Flyer issues.
For anyone struggling to get an appropriate response from Qantas regarding an issue with their Frequent Flyer program I would encourage you to contact the ACA (Aviation Customer Advocate) if you don't get a timely and satisfactory response. I recently had an issue where I booked a flight for my daughter which was not processed by them correctly despite being debited (points from my FF account and money from my CC account) and she missed her flight as a result. I contacted them on several occasions thereafter but they denied all knowledge of the...Read more
transaction. This included countless unsuccessful online chats, texts, calls and emails to Qantas. They clearly work on the premise of trying to frustrate you into submission! I eventually got in touch with the ACA who were very helpful and as a result of their involvement I was fully reimbursed by Qantas. Mind you not before they again denied to the ACA that I had ever made the booking. Luckily I was able to produce evidence by way of screen shots of my online chats, texts and email responses. Hopefully this helps someone as Qantas are a disgrace for operating a FF program in such an unprofessional manner.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

All my Frequent Flyer Points stolen from me by QANTAS
I had not used my Qantas Frequent Flyer card for over 2 years but had accumulated thousands of points. When I logged in today (after having to talk to the most painful operator) all my points had gone. This is out right stealing. When I signed up years ago it never mentioned anywhere on the Qantas webpage that they would take my QFF points off me if I did not use them after 18 months.
Return my points Qantas!
Your new web page is clunky and absolute junk!
I will now join another airlines frequent flyer club. *waving* bye bye!

Impossible to use points for flights
Tried to make a reward booking went all the way through to paying the taxes and site crashed, tried twice. Then tried to ring Qantas, got a recorded message saying lines were busy call back later. Tried the online chat, the assistant said one of the flights was no longer available but there were flights available on a different date, went to book these and they weren't available, tried to get back to that chat and the assistant was gone and there was no record of the chat, gave up!

Worst support team i have ever dealt with
Looking to add a card holder onto my qantas mastercard. Which can be done on the qantas money app, i do get to the end and it fails. So now to sort it out on the phone, wow 30 phone calls and i mean 30 calls no less maybe more. Get sent from QFF to qantas credit card. Im writing this a week later using the time i am wasting waiting these useless employees to answer the phone after very long delays. Getting a 2nd card i would expect to take about ten minutes at the most on the phone, i wonder how many other people are calling for the same simple...Read more
issues a number of times trying to resolve. Just spoke to Bea who repeated for the 20 th time she needs to check my details as they must be incorrect and why this important, oops again put in the transfer line to explain my situation all over again. After another hour still no 2nd card and have decided its not worth the trouble to pursue any longer. I'll look and getting a ANZ Qantas card and transferring my points, its a dearer way to do it, shame qantas. PierceSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

AirBNB points not tracking
BEWARE! Qantas AirBNB points are a SCAM! Despite doing this correctly multiple times, Qantas DO NOT track AirBNB points at all! Despite logging in via the QFF website with my own Qantas Frequent Flyer number correctly five times, despite completing over 5 different stays using the QFF portal. When I emailed both Qantas and AirBNB, they each blame each other and wash their hands off the problem entirely. So beware, you will NOT get Qantas points for any AirBNB stays. It is a SCAM.

NO STARS.
I've been a Qantas Frequent Flyer member for 18 years. Suddenly they take all your points away if you don't use them within 18 months. How can you save up your points to use them if they have a time limit! I called and they just don't care. Worse service ever. I do travel overseas every few years and would use Qantas, but not anymore. I will go out of my way not to use them. They are a joke. It can't possible hurt them a member saving up points, surely this is what it is for. Getting the points you need to travel anywhere, a normal person needs years. I can not believe they changed the system without informing you, it goes to junk mail. It is not even on their website. They way they dismissed me on the phone, would not make me come back.

Nightmare
I have been trying to log into the Qantas store since December 2022 and all I get is a "Oops! Something went wrong, the shop is closed, please try again" message.
Nine times out of ten I can't log into my frequent flyer account because my details are " wrong", so they say.
I have my membership card in front of me when I try to log in, I have my glasses on and the PIN number is clearly written down too and yet my details are wrong...!
When I email Qantas customer service I feel I am writing to a robot that can't read plain English.
If Qantas service their planes like they treat their customers, they are definitely not reliable.
As a result we have stopped flying Qantas whenever possible.

HOW can I join Virgin Frequent Flyers points please??
No answers
Emmeasked
I'm considering getting a Qantas frequent flyer card - All the reviews seem terrible but the main issue seems to be expiry of points. I've read the following on the Qantas website:
Your Qantas Points will not expire as long as you earn or use Qantas Points (excluding family transfers or the conversion of points from Aquire) through your Frequent Flyer account at least once every 18 months. This includes earning or using Qantas Points with our program partners. The time period starts from the date of your last activity (in the case of earning points on eligible flights, that is the date the flight was taken).
This seems okay to me as I would definitely use points/earn points every year.. Is the expiry the only issue people seem to have?

Hi Emme, the problem is you don’t earn points on partner flights well not Jetstar that’s for sure. So unless you know you will fly with Qantas you could fly regularly and not earn points. I earn pts regularly and just struggle to spend them. Getting a points seat on Qantas is like pulling teeth. Jetstar is easy though, go figure. And I have had issues with the store as well. The programme itself is complicated and outdated. Give the points a dollar value and let ppl spend them would solve a lot of problems. Hope that helps.
Hi Emme. Lost points is only part of the problem with this scheme. Getting any ff seats is extremely difficult, the taxes attached to ff seats are huge and often make it as cheap to fly with another airline, and you will often earn no points at all on your flights if they are discounted fares - but you will always get the annual charges.
Shop around: much fairer schemes are out there.
My points haven't expired. I have had a problem getting valid points credited to my account. Don't join this program. Explore what other airlines are offering.

I am a Gold status FF. I average 4 flights a year to USA cities through Lax with Departures usually
thru Term 4. My status allows access to Qantas Club Lounge which is in Tom Bradley Term. Term
4 departures requires QC Lounge members to use AA Lounge in Term 4. This lounge is exceedingly
inferior to QC Lounge & I feel does not meet the advertised benefits of Qantas Club membership
(The many QC members I speak to when in the AA club are all equally disgusted with the AA Club offerings) I am searching for method to access QC Lounge in [name removed] when my departure is
scheduled from Term 4.
