Garmin Fenix 5x
Bought this watch in June and am very happy with my purchase. Has very good battery life and the functions are useful for my everyday life. I would highly recommend this watch despite its high price compared to other watch models. It looks slightly bulky if your wrist size is small but its still worth it if your not too fussed on the size.

In love still!
Best watch yet, dress it up or down so it never has to come off! Always up to date, tracking of location and back tracking when on trails is super handy (several times!) sometimes the gps takes a while to kick in starting a run but usually this is due to high cloud cover. Can’t fault the watch at all!

Love love love
I adore the Fenix 5s. I love the step counter, the GPS, the heart rate monitor and the Connect app. It's got everything, it works really well and I find it really motivating to beat my step goal every day. Not only is the function great, the form is beautiful. I have the white one and it's very elegant. It looks like a watch, not a big chunky thing like the Forerunner.

Screen cracked in 9 days
Bought a Fenix 5, had it for 9 days, quite excited about using it for various walks, day 9, I really hadn’t used the watch for anything I intended for, I was simple giving a friend of mine a tour of the watch verbally, while I was doing this the screen crack on its own, he witnessed it!
I returned it to the place purchased, they contacted Garmin, Garmin’s reply is that it was physical damage and that it was not covered by warranty, they came up with this conclusion by looking at the photos of the crack and not the watch!
I tried several times...Read more
to communicate what had happened but they really where uninterested at customer service, they where also uninterested in other cases like this, I found in various forum, every time the person frustrated with customer service and basically treated like they where making up the story. They did offer me a refurbished watch tho for $187, how generous after paying full price 9 days before! NEVER AGAIN GARMIN !

Best birthday present ever!!
Having been a long time garmin user (athlete) Ive considered a watch in the past - but wasn't sure i would get a lot out of it. I received it for my birthday and haven't taken it off since. accurate for measuring sleep data (as an athlete that information is essential for me) I can also track) my training, racing and it connects to my power meter and heart rate monitor (it does have one built in also and it is failry accurate i must admit). Find it really user friendly and you can alter and adjust the screens easily enough too. Have connected it to my phone so i can see messages on it which is better when Im out training than having to pull my phone out.

The best Fitness Watch / buddy/ motivator ever!!!
Fenix 5X has everything you need to monitor your fitness. The wrist HR makes it easy to monitor your well being and progress. The software is unique, Sleep tracker, Fitness level, Work out minutes, trainings plans, running plans, compass, barometer, GPS maps, Car location, email notification, challenges, weight tracker ... this watch has everything!
I bought this watch because of the Sapphire Glass, no scratches after half a year. 100 % waterproof. There are so many watch faces available for download, it gets too difficult to decide which one ...Read more

Worth the price
I bought this after my apple watch died on me. Was expensive, but worth it. It calculates everything, movement, calories, steps, etc. The extra map techy map on it I thought was silly at first but I have actually used it. Great that it also links up to your phone and I have also linked it with my Garmin body weights

Really really good.
The new smaller size is great, with the look of the watch being a bit less ‘sporty’ so I wear mine every day. The tech is fabulous, love all the features and the additional heart rate monitor that I didn’t have in the fenix 3 has opened up a whole new world to me! Only slight down side is battery life.

Overkill for most, but a great watch
This is a fantastic watch. I'm glad I got the 5X as I've found the mapping capabilities useful a number of times.
You can download lots of useful watch faces and apps, like a surf tracker.
The Garmin Connect desktop app isn't great, but you can do most things with the mobile app (wireless) + third party apps.

Great Multisport Watch
I've had nearly every Garmin multisport watch they've released and the Fenix 5X is the best so far.
I've used it for running, cycling, swimming, gym and golf and it's performed impeccably. HR works well, though it's not as accurate during HIIT style weight training.
I love the look and feel, though it is definitely a BIG watch!
My only critique would be that the digital watch face isn't too bright, particularly indoors.
Overall its great!

Could have been better
I had a Garmin Forerunner 235 before. It was a great watch for the price. After using it for about 2 years, though I should upgrade it with a fenix 5. I bought this watch last year from JB Hifi. I have been using it for about 3 months now. I use it for Running, Cycling, bushwalking, fitness sessions and occasional pool swimming.
What I really like about this watch:
+ The best looking Sport watch in the market (at least for my liking)
+ Quality design
+ Great battery life. I get almost 2 weeks with one charge. I am a heavy user who uses th...Read more

Great watch but heavy!
Bought this watch for running stats and some 'smart watch' functions. Works well at what it is meant to do. Only downsides are that it is large (even the 5s on my skinny wrist!), heavy and the screen is sometimes difficult to see in direct sunlight. However, as it has buttons rather than a touch screen you don't have to spend much time looking at it.

NICE Looking watch
It is sleek design that I can wear it everyday.
The best thing about this watch that I don't have to reset every single day, the battery can last for up to 2 weeks com compare with the other smart watch this by far is the best.
On the downside the apps that support with this watch is not so many because I use it as a daily basis instead of Sport watch

Great all round fitness watch
For those who are active this watch is perfect, has a much better heart rate monitor than other watches on the market and its multiple settings and modes will make it useful no matter what sports or activities you partake in, the battery life is fantastic, although when the back light is on the screen can be a little hard to read. Overall a great purchase and I would highly recommend.

Love it !!
I bought this watch as a fitness watch. I wanted that little extra motivation to run and swim and be active. I specifically bought this type because of the surf edition I could download to it. It's amazing the way it tracks each wave and length and how far I've paddled. Would highly recommend this product if you are looking for the best fitness watch out there. Bonus ! It looks great. I have the plain white and it goes with everything.

Poor battery life, extremely erratic track/record when set to 'Smart' mode.
I'd had my 2016 (Dec.) model Garmin VivoActive HR (colour touchscreen) for only 12months and it died instantly when it touched salt water - it was a really great GPS watch - well until then :) I returned it to JB HiFi and they gave me the choice (on warranty - $400) to replace it with the new, latest model VivoActive (Yuck!) or upgrade to the 'awesome' and very $expensive$ Garmin Fenix 5X - me paying the difference in price. (The 2016 VivoActiveHR model was discontinued) I jumped at the chance to upgrade to the 5X!
1/. Smart mode: Now I...Read more
've only had my Fenix 5X for 2 weeks and hadn't had a chance to run with it until today. And how very disappointing. On GPS 'Smart' mode (powersaver) the tracking was just totally and continuously erratic both during and after the 12km run (recorded track). I loaded the run/track to Strava and my track is a consistently and EXTREMELY erratic, jagged zigzag line - ludicrous and unusable. (NB. Countryside, few trees - mostly open environment) 2/. Battery: At 11:00am I had a 100% full charge on my 5X - then went for a short 12km run (stopped/saved run after) - then passively faffed around at the shops and home - by 4:30pm I've only 74% charge left! What? A you kidding me? This 5X is NOT going to last for an ultra marathon! Note: I've used my small VivoActive HR for 15hr ultras and still had ~20% battery left at the end! (Note: I do not have additional widgets, apps or watch faces installed that may suck extra power) I REALLY miss the colour touchscreen of my VivoActive HR - it was just SO much better, faster and easier and to use than faffing around with all the buttons on the Fenix 5X. Just SO much fiddling around with the 5X to do anything! Such a MAJOR backward step as far as I'm concerned compared to the easy touchscreen '16 VivoActive HR. Fenix 5X ~ AUD$1000 <-> VivoActive HR ~ AUD$400. That's 2.5x more. Honestly - apart from the maps - I really just can't see the expensive Fenix 5X doing anything more than the cheaper (much better) VivoActive HR. I just can't understand the huge difference in price. Why? Note: This is my 4th Garmin GPS running watch. (Forerunner 305, 910XT, VivoActiveHR - then this Fenix 5X) All have been GREAT watches (except this 5X) - NEVER had problems with Smartmode tracking or poor battery life with those - even when the watches were several years old.Similar opinion? The watch I never even knew I needed and can no longer live without
At the start of 2018, I swore I would take the opportunity to live better. As a symbol of this promise, I was given this watch to help motivate and measure my success.
What I did not know is how amazing this bit of kit is. From customization to comfort to the sheer number of available features, this unit is beyond amazing! I joined up a few challenges and found this has had a major impact on my motivation. Since having the watch, I've lost four kilograms and walked more and done more most days.
Stylish in design and beyond functional, this wrist worn GPS unit is a must have for the adventure enthusiast.

Sensational Watch
I love this thing.
Was looking for a watch that was able to give me a day to day date like a fitness tracking device with steps and HR however with the same tech to be able to track performance more specifically when training or competing. The Garmin Fenix 5X can do it all and hits all of the sports I use it for and has app ability for those that are a bit more obscure, yet to do something I couldn't track.
Battery Life is great and the Golf features usually found only in Golf tech as well as maps on the go are great.
Has a price tag to it but would recommend to anyone

Should have spent $900 on a different brand
Bought this watch about 4 months ago, its a nice watch overall but the heart rate sensor cracked within 3 months. Lot of people of written good things about the watch and I love those feature as well but a cracked heart rate sensor within 3 months is not what you expect. Apparently this is a known problem with them which I only found out after it happened to mine ( a simple internet search) Garmin customer service asked me to send it to them and they have now had it for about 3 weeks and will hopefully fix it and I will have no problems in futu...Read more
re. Not that I didn't love my watch but if I were to buy a watch again it won't be Garmin. I also wish that customer service was bit more helpful and had a better communication system. I am totally in dark as to when my watch will be fixed if at all it will be fixed.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
