hi guysss .. i really need your recommendations

i have done rebonding before. and now my new hair grew to like 10cm, i have very frizzy hair with big waves. and i don't want to do rebonding again!! so would GHD would be a good option? and i am not sure which model would be suitable for my hair!!

i don't like my current flat iron, cuz the straightening does not last for too long in less than one hour it is back to frizzy. so does the effect of ghd last for long time? would i need to buy some other products?

Customer C.ghd

Hi Amona,

Thanks for getting in touch.

For the hair type described we would recommend the ghd platinum styler as this has been designed to be used on harder to style hair so should be perfect for you.

http://ghd.tm/2rFJuYJ

The tri-zone technology ensures that this product maintains the optimum heat to style hair, a constant 185°C. This means you can style your hair quickly and efficiently without compromising the health of your hair.

I see that GHD had answered you by the time I went to submit my comment but I thought I'd post the rest of my answer though in case it helps you. GHD will probably offer to either repair or replace it if you kept your receipt but I'd recommend considering asking for a refund instaead. I'm not sure if they'd agree to a refund straight away but I would be worried and would try to do everything I could to insist on a refund instead as the next one may fail too. They have a new manufacturer and the quality has really suffered. Some people have left reviews saying they've had one replaced but then it failed too and some had to get them replaced a third time during the same warranty period because they just continue to fail. Please be aware that a new warranty period does not begin again for each replacement, it only lasts the original 2 years so you could get stuck with a dud again once it runs out and also just have the hassle of being without one while you send it back and possibly have to repeat the process later and make several trips to the post office etc if it keeps happening. Many of the the other models are either not getting the same good results as past ones or are failing too and many seem to only last until just after the warranty runs out so it seems obvious that they're now using cheaper components. It's also worth asking first whether the hairdressing business you got it from will refund it (or replace it themselves if you do want the same one). I'd even send or take along a print out showing all the complaints to prove it seems to be a faulty model and if they agree to it they can then make a claim themselves with GHD or possibly help you to get GHD to agree to a full refund if they try to insist on repair or replacement only. If you do only want it replaced then going to the hairdresser would at least save you the hassle of having to post the product to GHD and be without the product for even longer. I would make sure though, if you end up being happy to just repair it or replace it through GHD to ask about the postage costs and get it in writing via email as some companies will supply you with a pre paid postage label but others ask you to pay the postage - if that's the case you should have a right to be reimbursed for it unless they find the product isn't actually faulty. Some companies are shifty about that part but GHD seem to be pretty good with acknowledging it's faulty once they receive it. If you have to cover the postage cost initially you'd normally be asked to supply a copy of the postage receipt when you send the item (the post office will print 2 copies if you ask) and GHD should then reimburse that later. Make sure you keep your copy as proof of postage as some companies may lose their copy or say you didn't send it! If that happens you can send a photo later of your copied receipt as proof of the amount you paid. In my experience many businesses try to get you go directly to the manufacturer but I think they may actually have an obligation to try to sort it out for you if you'd prefer to deal with them so sometimes it worth persisting or asking to speak to management or even suggesting you'll look further into consumer law and making a complaint about the business if they try to say it's not their responsibility..

In my case my straightener can't be returned as it's still working, I'm just not happy with the performance of it compared to my original model, the company I got it from also won't take it back because it's been used. Even if I hadn't opened it and just changed my mind, I know from past experience that most hairdressers will not allow a return on hair appliances including hairdryers and curlers and give the reasons as health concerns in case someone has actually tried it out.

Customer C.ghd

Hi,

Thanks for getting in touch.

We can confirm that our stylers are designed to have a slight gap between the plates to allow for thermal expansion. Once the styler has heated up you will notice that this gap will reduce dramatically allowing you to style your hair.

I bought my GHD Platinum White edition straightener about 2 years ago. A few nights ago as I was using it, I heard a loud pop noise and the straightener immediately turned off. I got a huge shock as the styler was still on my hair and I was holding it close to my face! I have been using various GHD straighteners for years now and I have never encountered any problems whatsoever. The new one doesn't seem to work properly after a while (not like how when you first buy it). I contacted GHD in the hopes that they may have some solutions for me including where to get it repaired. Their email reply was the least to say unhelpful and utterly dis-satisfactory. All they said was because it is out of the 24 month warranty they won't be able to assist me further. I am absolutely appalled and regret having forked out hundreds of dollars (and thousands now considering I have been using their for more 10 years) to support their brand. I will not be using GHD again.

I have never had one that "popped" and quit working. I always turn my off and unplug it. I just go to turn it on and once it heats, it starts beeping, flashes red, and will no longer heat. I have had two now and neither one of them have worked for longer than 3 months. This by-far has been the best flat-iron I have owned. However, it is so not worth the money for them not to last. Because we are in the United States, I feel they are not too concerned about helping us. I too was contacted by the company and asked to leave them my email address and phone and I still have not received a respond back.

Sheesh! I've just logged online to buy my first GHD straightener and dryer set. Hadn't purchased GHD brand before because of their price and because my old Remington had always been so faithful (it's finally died after 9 solid years). My hairdresser also warned me last week that GHD's quality is not so good anymore and that she no longer uses/recommends them. After reading through all these reviews though, it's decided, I'll be buying a different brand. Maybe another Remington, but I invite any suggestions!? :)

I will not be recommending anyone to buy ghd as the response I got was awful and not very helpful from them. I will probably buy a different brand and not use ghds again. I have had a couple of ghds and liked them but now I might try Rimington like you have suggested and not waste my money on ghds.

ghd have definitely had their day it seems. I started using babyliss straighteners about 3 years ago and I wouldn't change for anything now. They're miles better than my old ghds, cost a fraction of ghds and they have a 5 year warranty.

Contact GHD asap. That's how I knew something was off with my straightener. The first time it happened the same thing to me, I turned it off, removed from the plug and waited and tried to turn it on again but I still get the red light flashing on and off. I tried doing it for a few times but still had the same issue so I contacted GHD and they replaced my straightener but after a few months it happened again. It sucks because for the price we pay for these straighteners we expect quality but unfortunately it isn't the case with these products.
