I purchased a Hoover stick vacuum about 2 years ago and have attempted to use it a handful of times but it has absolutely no suction whatsoever and is completely useless. It’s brand new . I’ve have been ill for the past year hence the delay in writing. Can anything be done? It’s in immaculate condition and clean as a whistle. Thank you

Mine broke after two weeks. I was required to take it back to nearest store. Do not have a car. In bin. Will never order from Godfreys again.

Hello. Apparently under the terms of your 10 day satisfaction guarantee the bought item must be returned in a saleable condition. Does that mean you resell the returned item as though it is new?

Returned in a saleable condition means box unopened / product unused.
However if you buy a product and use it you can return it for a full refund in a fully used condition even without a box if the product fails to do the job a sales person promised as it is fully reasonable that the box and packaging would have been disposed of.
Don’t worry about the 10 days. Consumer law protects you.

So, having already encountered some over the phone resistance, how do I force them to refund me. The stick of the steam machine I purchased has three joins in it which mean the stick is always bowing and unstable; one of the other attachments moves around the whole time I am using it and undoes, so I’m having to constantly having to click it back into place; and after two sessions of use the pad on the glass attachment is already wearing through. Im actually pretty cranky about it as I don’t expect to spend nearly $400 on an item, and then find it virtually useless. Am I best to call Fair Trading before I contact Godfreys again? Thanks for your help.

Could Godfreys please explain to me their 10 day return policy?
I purchased a Hoover Allergy Bagless recently and within one week, and being used three times, the power on/off switch didn't work. I took it back to Godfreys Mt Ommaney wanting a full refund. NO, after a 15 minute calm debate, the only way to get a refund was for them to send it back to Hoover to see if the fault was caused by me, or Hoover. They were willing to give me a replacement, which I stated clearly I didn't want.
The lesson learnt from this experience is to go to David Jones or Myers to purchase appliances, where your integrity will remain intact!

Our 10 day refund policy is for change of mind, and the machine is in good working re-saleable condition.

Due to the issue you have experienced with the on/off switch of the machine, the request by the store to book the machine in to be inspected under warranty is correct, as our technician needs to determine the cause of the fault.

Do you give exchanges or a refund for products, that the customer is not totally satisfied with how it works or an exchange
The item in question was only purchased about 5mths ago,it has been out of service for approx 6weeks. At this stage without telling the whole story, I feel after the hipe we were given about the product was misleading in the least

I just purchased the Hoover Ultra light handstick today in Ballarat Godfreys, but when I got home I realised that the model no. advertised on the website (which is what prompted me to purchase it) is different to the one sold to me in the shop...but this was the only Hoover Ultra Light Handstick available, and was at the price advertised - half price at $149. The voltage on the website says 22.2v but on the one I bought it says it's a 21.6v. The model on the website is ZB1516 and the model I was sold is 5221. Are they the same or have I been sold an older model advertised as a newer model?

There has been a cosmetic update with this model, they now come with a red rod and the battery is now a 21.6 v.

Yes, I am pretty sure you can do this. You can also return the vacuum up to 14 days after purchase if you are unhappy with it, quality, performance etc.

I can therefore see no reason why you would not be able to cancel a lay by.

I read that Godfreys was unable to find a new buyer for the company earlier this year and is looking at selling shares to the public ( IPO ) to keep the business going.
My question is 'if the ipo is not successful, who will cover warranty issues for products sold?'
The reason I ask this is that Godfreys owns most of the brands it sells, i.e, if the company folds then customers can't be directed to the manufacturer as products are imported from random factory's mostly in China.
Although I'm not effected by this, a good friend just purchases a product from them.

I have never been able to purchase an advertised product every time Godfreys have a sale. The advertised product is always out of stock by the time I get to the store. But luckily for me Godfreys always have a plenty of more expensive products that they are willing to sell me. Has anyone else noticed this, or am I just cursed bad luck?

Don't be dissapointed you didn't get an advertised special, that is unless you wanted a paper weight or door stop! The sales people actually tell you streight it won't do the job before showing you something much more expensive,
All they do is 'Bait and Switch', just see how rude they get when you say no! Probably why they never have stock, only one to show you, they had no intention of selling it in the first place, just selling you up!
Thought this type of selling went out with the dynosours, shame on them.

Has there been prior complaints about overcharging at the Preston store as I'd been charged $35- for an Oates carpet sweeper I purchased there today, for my near immobile Mother, although I'm certain he initially suggested price of $25-? Later confirmed with my local store a price of $25.95 & whilst he has offered refund, providing I return to his store, I am alarmed to find my Mum had similar issue previously at same store!

I haven't experienced that I'm afraid. I can report that I requested to speak to the e commerce manager at Godfreys head office about my issue and be refunded me already instead of waiting for the machine to be returned! He apologised about delayed delivery and said he will look into the freight company in Perth who is letting us all down. Faith in Godfreys restore for me. Hope you tell that employee that you have a good mind to report him to head office so they make sure they are inline

Don't ever go to this shop. Worst experience ever. I tegretted buying a expensive vacuum cleaner there . He was very rude when I went back to ask some wuestions on how to operate it. I don't think he will get many customers in future with this attitude.

have just purchased a dustflo 12v 2in1 bagless stick vac. when on charge sometimes red light flashes and sometimes stays on continuously. I need to know what it should do when charging as instruction manual does not indicate whatever? just yhat the red light comes on.

Why do Godfrey's employees have to be so rude to elderly people?
They treat them with contempt, you buy a vacuum cleaner from them it site in it box for 91 day unused the get brand new carpet laid, take out the vacuum cleaner and try and clean the carpet and it will not work.... You go to the store you buy it from and the sales man is so rude and just tells lies and just makes excuses for not helping them.
I am happy to repost this on Facebook, twitter etc, if not resolved for them.

This is quite a general comment. Is this all Godfrey's staff or staff from a particular store that you've had a bad experience with? If you have a poor experience don't think it's better to call the manager at the store in question and have the matter addressed? Perhaps there is a poor performing salesperson that needs to performance managed or there is a poor culture in a particular store. It's not really fair to accuse all Godfrey's staff across the country of behaving in this way. There are poor salespeople accross all forms of retail unfortunately but there are good ones too.

As far as I am aware the serial number is logged along with the original purchasers name etc therefore warranty wont transfer unless you have all original documents and pretend to be the original buyer. Buy from a store, spend a little more and get legitimate new product with all the trimmings that come from buying from a retailer.
