Beware of hidden fees and contract

published

I signed up to Goodlife in a contract I was unaware of a $10 fee they take every month and silly one of fees, if you are wanting out of the contract GOOD LUCK!!
They will ignore calls make it extremely difficult even when you have a medical condition!!!!
Would never recommend them to anyone! Go to a gym with no contract.

Poor customer service

Kept on charging my account when my membership was over even after telling them that I don’t want to continue. No refund after realising their fault. Very poor customer service. I will not recommend this gym(Dernancourt SA) to anyone ever.

Money driven club!

published

Me and my girlfriend signed up for the gym recently and found out one week later that they had charged us each $150 on top of the weekly membership payments.

Apparently the $150 charged was for the ADMIN FEE (which they have neglected to inform either of us at the time of registration) and PERSONAL TRAINER program (which we made sure at the time of registration we were not interested).

I was fortunate my bank app notified me earlier, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to find out I was actually on a program.

Huge disappointment! Would definitely not recommend...

appalling manager

published

This manager Lauren at Mt Lawley club turned me away today when I turned up for my regular 2:45 pm class, only because I forget to bring my 24/7 swipe card. I said i never needed the swipe card to come in, and I'll remember to bring it next time, plus I arrived before the club shuts (usually at 3 pm). She told me to leave. This is a very disappointing experience and it ruined my day. I've been coming to the same lesson for 2 years and always enjoy it. I hope no one else has to go through what I went through today. I'm left with no choice but to cancel my membership.

It's all about the $, can't comprehend notion of customer satisfaction

published

Tried out the club and was very put off by the fakeness of the place.
I don't need you on me like a leach, pitching stuff and telling me what I need. I'm only here to focus on my training.
Went twice and decided to cancel membership. Was charged $350 for leaving.
No empathy shown, and when I brought up whether they felt this was the right thing to do in these circumstances I was accused of having a personal problem with the staff member (face palm).
Advice to others. Stick to gyms that are either privately owned so that their success can be traced back to customer service, or go for an unstaffed gym with less overheads like a Snap.

Worst gym, I never used

published

Wanted to try out Goodlife Beenleigh so I payed for a 1 month, No contract membership. Went in store and paid another fee to have the keys totalling around $200.

After signing some waivers about safety and access, I was told I had to come back the next day to activate the cards so I can use them.

Next day they tried to fee me for the week, including overdraft fees ($40).

They are now trying to get me to pay them $200 for never having access to their gym.

Worst gym ever

published

Joined this gym because of it's location but have had a bad experience for the last 2 years:
Unhygienic and dirty
Unfriendly staff
Overbooked classes
Instructors not turning up for classes
Ridiculous overdue fees and difficult to change payment details
Not worth the money

Only after your money don't even follow the rules of the ACCC.
Take your money and then change the service they provide. Purposely vague when selling memberships or other services. Take your money and then never provide the service and refuse to refund a service not provided.
Also consistently dirty and broken facilities and no aircon and fans that are never switched on above the lowest setting what a rip off!

Worst gym available

published

Was travelling between two cities and so I signed an All-Access pass which was a fixed rate for 12 months which allowed access to any goodlife in the region. Now that my contract is over, I moved less and realised I didn’t need to use other gyms so I wanted to reduce the cost by keeping a pass only for my “home store”. I called up and realised I couldn’t do it unless I payed a $65 “transfer fee” and would have to resign a contract which was barely any cheaper than what I have been paying. Absolute 0 flexibility. I’m definitely quitting.

Just awful. Run but not in this direction!

published

Staff on the counter could not care less about customers. Overcrowding is insane. Nothing is ever fixed or put away. This is the ‘gym’ people joke about. Management are as ineffectual as it gets. A real mess. This place could be great with someone serious at the wheel. At the moment, I would say, do not waste your money.

Unnecessary fees, employees are all very persuasive and pressure you to sign up to the most expensive membership. Tried to cancel my membership because I’m in financial hardship and they still made me pay $50 to get out of the membership.

unsafe practice

I paid $30 for 2 visits 11/02/20 in Cannington "Good life" branch. When I was in changing room one of the male gym instructor came into the room when I was naked & spent 5 min there and left . I reported this incident to the reception desk. I only used a pool for 20 mins and left due to I did not feel safe. I said to the receptionist I would never come back again. No refund offered.

Cancelled membership still being charged

published

My husband cancelled his membership on 6th January 2020 and Goodlife are still taking money out of our account. We contacted them and they have placed account until they investigate. What's to investigate? They are making excuses about whether membership was genuinely cancelled. Disgusted with their treatment of this whole matter. We are constantly having to chase this up as they seem incapable of doing their job. Jump to help when you sign up. Ignore you when you want to cancel.

Filthy Club with the great Stich up scheme which cheats its members with unreasonable fees

published

have been a member for 3 years, have always been stitched up for unreasonable fees. i have ignored few charges but their staff including manager is very rude. They treat people like kids.

Their contracts are unreasonable and every time they stitch you up with money they will throw a contract to your face and say read it. i do not recommend anyone to join this poorly ran and managed gym.

on top of issues with the way they deal with people, the gym's condition is worsening. steam room is not functioning for 18 months, bathrooms are filthy, no air con on a hot days, cooling system doesn't work. spa doesn't operate and is filthy too.

Be aware, if you join this gym you will get stitched up for money, worst customer service and equipment

Just wondering how often the Gym gets cleaned? I have been going to the Cannington gym for over 10 years and It is starting to feel VERY unhygienic. Equipment especially the treadmills, steppers and bikes etc are very dirty and dusty with paper towels left on them etc. The floor is always filthy with peoples old drinkbottles, socks, gloves etc lieing around for days.
The equipment often does not work having to change to at least 3 different treadmills at times to get one that works. Trying to watch TV from them is always an issue too. They always say 'no signal' or you cant put your earphones in the port.
All this is really starting to bother me and am seriously looking at changing gyms. It is not cheap to attend a gym so we expect higher standards for the money we are paying.
