I find it tasty

published

I have been eating this cereal for some time (since I was diagnosed with high cholesterol). I find it tasty and I take their word for it that its better for the heart than most other cereals on the shelf. I also add various nuts to the contents. My cholesterol reading has now dropped to normal, but I have cut out many things from my diet & also use cholesterol lowering milk and margarine products.

Used to like this but.....

published

I used to buy this cereal but had been making my own meusli for some time. I saw that they had a new formula with barley max so I decided to give it a go again.
I was very disappointed as it is now very, very sweet, not for adult tastes at all!! The ingredients list "Golden Syrup, sweetened cranberries, sugar, and honey" - so if you want to eat a healthy product and avoid sugar, this cereal is not suitable for you.
In fact I would hesitate to call it a healthy product at all!!!!
Contains some good grains.
Excessively sweet - tastes horrible!

New formula has lost flavour

published

Whilst the Digestive product has benefited from the new lighter formula (it used to be too heavy, similar to a chewy toasted muesli), the Heart product has not. There was previously a nice grainy flavour which has been mostly lost, and the texture is too fine, becoming closer to bran or meal.
Low GI carbs

The Digestive cereal is the same I wouldn't buy it again. It was the only cereal I really felt feeled me up, the flavour is lost and the texture is too fine. Bring back the original product.

I was eating rolled oats most mornings as i was told if i did this it would lower my colesterol and it did work for me (no medication). I was getting tried of the same cereal so i tried goodness heart 1st and love it. I now enjoy it every day and never get tired of it.
It keeps my cholesterol under control and tastes so good.

Good, wholesome and tasty!

published

Many people associate the term superfoods with 'it must be yuck' but this cereal taste's really good. I prefer the taste of it better than all other branded muesli's (especially those available in a mainstream supermarket) I have tasted AND it is more nutrient dense. I highly recommend this muesli. Another pro is you can order 6 of these boxes online from their website with free delivery in Melbourne, cheaper than at the supermarket.
Good taste, Good ingredients and Great nutritional value

Bad stomach cramps and bloating

published

I've been eating the superfoods oats and bought the Heart cereal to have twice a weeks as a break from oats. I couldn't work out why on some days in the afternoon my stomach would bloat up like a balloon and get severe and quite painful cramps. After taking notice with what I was eating for breakfast, I soon realized it was the Heart cereal. No more! The discomfort is not worth it.
Tastes great

I actually bought this cereal for my husband; however i started eating it and well he hasn't had any as yet.
It is so delicious. In fact it has made me want to eat breakfast which I have bad habit of skipping.
It stays crunchy and every mouthful seems to give you another flavour to enjoy.

where can I purchase Heart & Digestive cereals

Goodness Heart 1st and other Goodness labels used to be sold at Coles and IGA but no longer. When I called the manufacturer some months ago I was advised that Heart 1st was a discontinued item. Perhaps sales were too low. Apparently some other products also contain Barley Max, if that's what you are looking for.
Google thehealthygrain.com and scroll down to BarleyMax Products.
Alternatively, Kelloggs has a breakfast cereal called Guardian with "Helps Break Down Cholesterol" splashed in red across the front. Its available at Woolworths and contains a different choles lowering product.
