Rubbish quality
Bought an office desk, easy purchase and ok selection. However this is what they deemed acceptable for wood finishings.
Wood filler all over the legs and support beams. The largest one being12x4 cm on a piece that will be seen daily.
So now we have to wait while they investigate the quality and determine if we can return it for an exchange. Cheers Harvey Norman furniture I now have this taking up room until you sort it out (7 working days at least). Here's a solution, let me take it back and give me a new one.

Unbelievable delay boximg day purchase
We went to Harvey Norman Springvale store on Boxing day and bought a dinining table set and a coffee table for our new town house. We thought we could get these items delivered within a week as we see these items were advertised they are available in warehouse. However, after we decided to buy them and deposite our money ($649 i.e. 25%) they have informed us that there are 5 sets of dining table available and they are not sure we could have them delivered first or we have to wait 2-3 weeks later. As we’d like these items we don’t might to get t...Read more
hem delivered a bit late & thought that might due to boxing day rush. However, on 6th January 2020, almost two weeks later we received a call from a sale consultant informing us that the delivery won’t be until 25th January. We’d been a bit surprise but decided to wait for 25th Jan delivery as we don’t want to repeat this buying process again. On 22nd Jan I called the store again to ensure our delivery on 25th as I haven’t heard from them for delivery arrangement as I was suspicious that something is not right as our expected delivery date is coming closer. To our surprise & disappointment, Harvey Norman informed ask that the delivery won’t be untill 25th Feb. We can’t believe they have recorded a note in their system that we are happy to wait until 25th Feb instead of 25th Jan. No one could afford to wait the furniture for two months after the boxing day purchase like that!!! So we had decided to cancel this order and went to Store on Sat 25th. Luckily we’ve seen the same sale man that sold us these items again and he remembers us and recalled our delivery date would be end of January, so he agreed to help us to cancel this order with no penalty. After the cancelation, the store promise me that someone will call me on the next day 26th Jan for a check refund but no one did call me till today 30th Jan, 4 days later then the store promised. So I think I have to call them to chase our refund again today. So we are uoset & don’t understand how the communication & customer service of Harvey Norman, one of our past favourite store in Australia for many years, have been rapidly declined like that. I hope the store would fix this issue to maintain their standard soon.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Cheap but dangerous product
Drawers simply never used to topple over.
Simple physics tells you the frames of these drawers are too lightweight to handle weight of drawers due to cheating out on materials and safety standards.
No children in our household,2 drawers open on one of these poor quality units and the whole thing went over and broke my tibia.
That is dam right poor quality and putting up signs and providing a bracket for customers to do some DIY is almost a admission of the cheap product now being sold yet this is obviously all wrong.
Your safety standards need ...Read more

Very rude service
The sales person was so rude. When we advised that Tony, you are arguing with us and we feel it rude. Then he said that we can complain who ever we like. I know my complain won't make any difference on his job, but Harvey Norman lost $9,200.00 business from my family on that day because of his rude behaviour.
Good luck for future Harvey Norman
Thanks

Outstanding service and product.
My wife and I recently purchased, a 3 piece sofa suite from Harvey Norman’s, at 36 Clarke Crescent Joondalup 6027.
It was dream shopping experience, no pushy sales person trying to make us take out buy now pay later plans, just helpful advice and guidance regarding our purchase.
It was a considerable spend to us personally, almost $3,000 dollars well worth it though given what we bought. Sandy our sales consultant was wonderful, professional, helpful and most of all personable an asset to her employers; a 10 out of 10 from us.
All in all a v...Read more

The salesman has no idea
The salesman said the product will need no construction. The box arrived and we opened it- only to find a number of parts and screws for us to put together.

Don’t believe the sales pitch
The Zac Single Sofa Bed. This has to be the most overpriced and most uncomfortable sofa bed in existence. A saleswoman called Shelly told us how wonderfully comfortable the Zac Single Bed was, and she was talking from her own experience because her son found it extremely comfortable.
Please don’t be taken in by such hype like we were. This is an overpriced uncomfortable single sofa bed. Both my grandchildren have tried it and both say it is so uncomfortable they would rather sleep on the floor. Do not waste your money. It cost us a total of ...Read more

Extremely dissatisfied with the Rochester lounge we bought. It’s lost it’s color in patches from walnut to the underneath brown. And has started looking ugly within 6months of delivery. Upon complaining the assessor who was clearly bias said- well that’s how this leather is...! Are you serious how can leather loose it’s color in patches in 5-6 months. I have delivered my baby in aug and got delivered the lounge April first week didn’t get a chance until oct and assessor and customer service said manufacturer not trading. Sometimes they say- it’...Read more
s the type of leather- why the same couch in display has not lost color??? No answer. manager says- assessor reports says it’s this kind a leather... well contradictories. Neither the display model has lost color nor had they marketed as it will loose color or its a particular type of leather which the manager claims he’s not expert on either. If he selling the couch doesn’t know the kind of leather it is to advise us how can I. But I know a good quality leather does not loose color and gets faded 5-6 mths. They disagree it’s manufacturer fault and have not offered any compensation. Instead are ok for me to go thru fair trading and also want me to hire leather expert when clearly product is bad and it’s under warranty.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Sleepmaker - 4.5years old - slumping middle - HN useless
This review is simply aimed at the BEDDING section of Harvey Norman (HN) Rutherford.
I have purchased a mattress from HN, the mattress a 'Beautyrest Carnegie Black' ($2600 on special) is now four years old and has been having a minor sinking problems in the centre of the mattress for about 12-18 months. I didn't think that much of until the last while as I was always hoping it would stop or level out. This has not happened and the problem has gotten worse over time. There is now substantial depression in the middle of the mattress. The mattre...Read more
ss sits on a quality, Australian Made base, not an ensemble. I got in contact with the bedding manufacturer and HN. HN are not interested in helping until after the mattress is assessed. They are not prepared to do ONE damn thing towards solving this problem. I have been out there several times all the time trying to be reasonable. The whole time I've been treated reasonably, they aren't impolite, they just don't do anything. I could be wrong with regards to the practices of having items repaired or in this case a refund, thought they would make more of an effort to help out their customers in instances where there has been a substantial amount of money spent. The mattress is sagging now to the point where, it could be responsible for some of my recent back problems. For this reason, I especially purchased a pretty expensive mattress from a reputable stockist, HN, or so I thought. At the end of this transaction regarding my mattress I will not be shopping at HN (BEDDING) again. This review is not aimed at disparaging the HN store as a whole, just the bedding section. My last few purchases bedding related have moved to Amart, which in Rutherford is just across the road. They, on occasions, make mistakes too but they at least worked with me to fix them. They had no problems taking my money, now they don't stand behind their product and have no gumption to encourage their suppliers to look after their customers. In my book, the buck stops with HN, I will be doing what I can to ensure this is resolved to an acceptable standard. Thanks for reading, and good luck with your bedding needs!Similar opinion? Have not got it yet, has been 11 weeks
Bought a sofa lounge for my father because the one he had was bad for his back, went to the ballina store on the 12th of October. The staff were really nice. Was told it will be delivered in 6 weeks, disappointing but I thought yeah I could handle that, than 8 weeks come and gone so I called and was told it will be in within the end of the week on the 30th November, No lounge, so I went to the store and was told it will be on the 5th of December. No lounge, so I called again and was told definitely the 16th. 16th came and I called to make sure,...Read more

PU leather sold as genuine leather
We purchased an alleged genuine leather lounge from Harvey Norman. The lounge had labels claiming genuine leather and appeared to be leather on purchase. The salesperson even sold us leather cleaning products to look after the lounge. 4 years later, the lounge began to peel, even though it had been treated annually with care products. If it was real leather, it may have cracked or shown signs of wear, however real leather does not peel.
We contacted Harvey Norman to lodge a complaint. They informed us that it only has a warranty for 1 year,...Read more

Defective Furniture and TERRIBLE QC process
I bought my HN mattress and a Prism bedroom suite in end October. The mattress arrived within a few days, the bedroom suite (bedframe, tall boy, 2 bedside tables) arrived within 2+ weeks. However the furniture had MULTIPLE defects. The only items that was not defective were the bedside tables. Tallboy- bottom drawer was built badly and was hitting the ground upon opening it fully. Bedframe... Where do I start? The bedframe comes in 4 flatpacks that you need to assemble yourself, which is fine. But the footend piece (which has 2 drawers) was def...Read more
ective- there was a big gaping hole with nails sticking out and visible. And the drawer was slanted and hitting the ground upon opening as well. In view of this, we decided to forego building the bedframe with the defective pieces and contacted Harvey Norman for repair/replacement. I had to send an email to the HN Fyshwick representative who forwarded it to the furniture supplier. After 2.5 weeks, the furniture inspector [name removed] came to view the pieces, and he fixed the tallboy drawer for us. He agreed with the defective footend piece and said he will arrange for HN to deliver a new piece to us while taking away the defective one. THIS TOOK NEARLY 3 WEEKS. Harvey Norman never called me once to update me on when the piece was going to come in. Kaine had to be the intermediary, calling HN for me to chase them to call me. I eventually called HN myself getting incredibly frustrated at the constant delays. Eventually the footend piece was delivered yesterday, and as I was about to build the bedframe... Now the bedhead has been found to have missing brackets, hence the bed cannot even be built. Thankfully the Kaine, the furniture inspector was prompt in his response upon contacting him, and will be coming down next week with the missing brackets to build the bedframe for us. Its SHOCKING how bad the QC process is. There're stickers on the backs of all the defective pieces saying QC passed, but I do NOT understand how. Having MAJOR defects in my furniture was not how I wanted this process to be. Taking WEEKS to get defective pieces replaced was even worse. Its been 6 weeks now since I first emailed HN, and my bedframe is still in pieces, and not mountable. On the bright side, the furniture inspector, [name removed], has been a godsend. He's been prompt and extremely helpful and following up the progress with me even though he didn't have to. He's the guy you would want to come and inspect your pieces because he's been the ONLY light in this terrible nightmare. Its been slightly less painful having his direct contact and not having to go through Harvey Norman again, because every time I had to talk to someone from Harvey Norman, I wanted to pull my hair out. They do not care about you once they've sold the furniture, there's NO follow-up from them regarding delivery timings for defective furniture, there's NO attempts at service recovery despite the horrible mess they've left us with. My living room has been a mess for 6 weeks now, having bed pieces around that I could not build firstly because of a dangerous footend piece, and now because of missing brackets on the bedhead. When you spend $4700+ from Harvey Norman, you expect better service than HORRIBLE quality bedframes and bad customer service and utter lack of care or compensation for the headache and trouble that they've caused us.Similar opinion? Terrible delivery service and damaged my wall
I ordered a modular sofa over $2,000 and paid for delivery + installation. The delivery guys were rude and careless and damaged the staircase wall while bringing the boxes in. Also did a very bad job in installation and the sofa wasnt fixed properly, now the connections hanging on one bolt instead of two.
I rang the store I purchased, and they gave me an email address, when I wrote to that email no one replied over a month now. Really disappointed about the customer service and care of Harvey Norman.

Synargy.com.nz lounge Axel Lou at Harvey Norman
Bought a three piece lounge made by the manufacturer called Synargy. At synergy.com.nz.
Harvey Norman sells it, and the cushion is so weak that only a few months later, its concaved in one spot and a little less in another. When you sit in the spot its like a hole that you fall into. The cushion doesn't bounce back like it did in the first few weeks. It has a one year warranty and the cushion put into it is really bad quality. Now the bloke from synargy manufacturer, came and checked the springs and sat on couch and said that its a natural soft...Read more

Terrible Customer Service- rude and unprofessional Store Manager
On 26 May 2022, I purchased a lounge set from Harvey Norman Castle Hill store for $3,009 (Original price $3,239 less Discount $230). Finally the lounge arrived on 18 Sep after so many promises but store charged the full amount $3,239 instead of $3,009 from my Go Master Card. Later I contacted to the sales person and raised that issue. Sale person escalated it to her store manager (Jignesh) as she wasn't able to resolve it. In early October I physically went to the store and spoken with the store manager about that issue and I was promised by ...Read more
him that the money ($230) will be reimburse into my account within a week. It almost six weeks since then but money hasn't been reimbursed into my account. This morning I therefore call the store manager and ask about my refund. However, the guy (Jignesh) was so aggressive and refuse to answer my questions. One stage he accused me falsely that I told him "money is in his pocket" what I never said to him. Unbelievable rudeness and absolutely unprofessional manner - as a result I had to stop talking with him. Think before you visit to the Castle Hill Store - better to avoid that store.Similar opinion? Happy to sell you an expensive lounge from a dodgy manufacturer and no customer service
We bought an expensive leather lounge 18 weeks ago from Harvey, from the moment it arrived it was wrong, no real customer service, 8 weeks later the manufacturer comes out and says its our carpet, even though a spurt level shows our carpet is level, they want to send us some blocks of wood to sort out this expensive lounge, when we got upset, they are now sending another guy out with more bs! Shame on you

Shame on you Harvey Norman Caringbah
Bought outside fridge with the bench back in September 2022. Promised will arrive in 4 weeks time. Called on 17th of November that has arrived finally?!?!?!?
I asked to get some sort of reimbursement like free delivery because of the long wait. Delivery promised and organised for 21st of Nov.
Called in the morning that delivery is on the way in next few minutes I asked for 10-15 wait because of the traffic got abused over the phone told not to be smart and so on. There was a change to be given back $26.00 not a word mentioned from delivery guy that he is going to give it or not. Put the money in his pocket and left without saying anything.
Wow it looks like tip these days are non negotiable its a must
Never again HARVEY NORMAN CARINGBAH

My order hasn't been delivered after 9 weeks... I am tiered waiting and want to cancel it now. What are my options ?
5 answers
You need to talk to them about the delay and find out if they are waiting on the product to be delivered to them to on deliver to you. They may have it stuck on the dock. You would be entitled to cancel I am sure but then you may have to wait a while for your new order. Talking to them would be the best resolution
Will I get my deposit back? Or they are entitled to deduct 20%
The logical thing to do would be to contact the store asking here wont give you the answer

I bought a lovely sofa from EOFY sale in Cannington. Was delivered last week. No problem there. However it is just too big in the small living space I have. I have not used it at all. Can I return for a refund.
