Hoping someone can share their experience. We bought an outdoor setting for a few thousand dollars 11 months ago. We were told that the price reflects the high quality. We wouldn't have to worry about oiling the product till at least a year later. It has been 11 months and the setting is distorted, warped, discoloured and looks 5+ years old. Has anyone got any idea whether a replacement or refund will be provided? We feel really let down

Hi Chin08 I would say you have been given the wrong advice. Anything that is out in the weather needs special care especially timber. It sounds like you need a good oil that is going to soak into the timber. I suggest you find a restorer and get advice

I feel your pain Chin08. I'm convinced that at some HN stores the sales people will say anything to get a sale.. I would be taking photos, taking them to the store & complaining.first hand - because consumer law in every state should be on your side. If you paid THAT much then there must be a warranty and even with cheap & cheerful furniture the warranty is 12 months usually. If no response I would then put it all in writing to the Store Manager & if no luck there - go straight to the Consumer body in your state.
We just purchased a $4000+ recliner lounge from HN at Gepps Cross in SA. I am sitting in my family room looking at 6 huge boxes that were delivered yesterday - over n hour late. My lounge suite is in pieces. We paid it off over a few months and at no time were we ever advised that it would not be delivered assembled! Apparently we would have had to pay the $120.00 "premium delivery" to get it assembled.
But we didn't know as no one except the delivery man told us.
The lounge suite is in the original boxes imported from China - so no one at HN has even opened them to check whether the lounge is damaged & all the parts are there - so much for quality control!

Edit- to my comment above. The lovely young delivery man who dropped my furniture off last night and told me about the premium delivery has just phoned me to say he is coming this afternoon to put our lounge together for the extra $50 "premium delivery" fee. The ordinary "in the boxes" delivery is $70.
He was late delivering to us last night because almost every person he dropped off to yesterday also didn't know about the premium delivery upcharge.- so he ended up having to take the extra money - give them their receipt and then put the furniture together.
He never once "whinged" about the situation but just explained this was why he was so late.
I really appreciate this as my partner is away....
But it does seem unfair that HN don't advise their customers of their furniture being delivered un-assembled for the standard delivery fee and then leave it to the poor delivery guy to deal with customers' fury because not only is he late - but he is delivering their furniture in pieces as well!

Everyone knows that the "cheap & cheerful" retailers' stuff comes un-assembled in boxes - that's why they are cheap & cheerful.
Although in saying that - we recently purchased a lamp table from Super Amart (a lot of their stuff isn't cheap & cheerful though) very cheaply as it was "on sale" - we were amazed to find we only had to put on the legs and the bottom shelf. The quality is actually excellent with all the bolts going into holes lined with metal & the drawer and the top were already pre-assembled
Anyway this young man is making a special trip to do this - which is very much appreciated. I am sure it would be costing a lot more if i had to pay a "handy man " to do it for me!

Can you please help me with the Microsoft Pro 3 issue?
Looking forward to a response from a HN official. I am commercial customer with HN buying so many products, I am really disappointed with my experience of my Microsoft pro 3 purchase. I recommended HN to many of my clients and if I am not getting any help it is my responsibility to share my experience with them. Took 3 years replacement warranty + spend $2000 + for the device, after 1 year get a refurbished device even when it was a technical fault. Store rep - no help- US consultants confirmed I am eligible for a new device. Can I please get a response if HN values the concerns of their customers?

it really depends on the franchisee but it you have extended warranty it will cover a lot. if you are having technical issues seeing a techbay is the best option so they can try and fix the problem first.

I went through the right procedure with the vendor Harvey Norman, reported that I have issues, and one day it completely stopped working. Whenever I reported the issue the consultant told me if you have any issues bring it back and you will get a brand new one and he failed to keep his promise. are they making a joke of their customers. I a, one of their commercial customers who recommended many others in my position as IT director. I was treated unfair by providing me a refurbished one as I could have bought a refurbished one paying half or less in the first place. are they making a joke of MS warranties.
IF customers are not supported they get away with this kind of treatment

I know I'm late to the party, in a lot of cases you can get a store credit depending how long ago the machine was purchased, but a refund is entirely up to the proprietor of that particular Harvey Norman franchise. Company policy is to keep customers happy, so you'll always get a solution.
I work for Harvey Norman for reference.

I have ordered split system and paid 450 advance. I called next day to say put my order on hold as I am not sure about the size. I called 2 days later to cancel my order and they are saying you will have to pay 20% fee. Not sure if it's fair and was never told about it.

Yes, thats the rule. It would be written in the one pager documentation they have given you stapled to the deposit receipt.

Thank you Rebecca, however this is a bit late after you have paid the money! I wonder if this is acceptable by fair trading?

They needed to make you aware of the fee before you entered itno the agrementw ith them, they can't intriduce and new term or condition afetr the fact - it's not lawful. So you need to check your paperwork, if you paid for the item and they handed you the 'term' afetr you paid then it's unlawful - even though they handed it to you immediately after you paid, it was still AFTER you paid.

Hi I bought a sony ps4 2 months ago and it was supposed to come with the game driveclub but didn't because out of stock. Which was ok because I was going to use it for a birthday present a month later. Anyway I had to buy one for my brother and then another month went by without any contact and then today I get a call from Harvey Norman saying I can pick it up. So I said it's been too long I had to buy the game can we sort something else out. He has said no. Which I find this to be very unreasonable because of the length of time. If I had known I would of got it from target the next day which they price matched to get me to buy from them. Anything I can do?

If the game Drive club was supposed to come with the purchase of Sony PS4 then Harvey Norman are obligated to supply you with one, otherwise it is an incomplete sale or transaction. Therefor you can return it for full refund as being an incomplete item. But due to their nil stock of the game Drive club you should have negotiated for price drop or discount and Sales person should have offered it to you because the sales Person should know that it is supposed to be part of the sale (in many cases there are a lot of in store stealing by sales people). Also depending what you communicated with Harvey Norman during the 2 months period that they still couldn't provide you with the game Drive club then they are obligated to pay or refund your purchase of the game Drive club from another store but show them the receipt for proof of Purchase. Another option you can do is contact Fair Trading / Consumer Affairs for advice and make a complaint and they will advise you for your rights......

More often than not, the answer is that RAM can be replaced without impacting your Warranty, however, your best bet is to contact Acer direct.

Hi. I am most certain that any modifications that you do to the standards of your computer while under the warranty period will void any future claims.
Be careful.

Why didn't a salesperson contact me earlier and advise me of the issue....and why offer me a discount to leave order in place....twice...????

This seems like a case of misinformation; we recently returned a water chiller, it seemed to take ages, until I found out that the salesperson on the receipt was the one who was handling our problem but had been on leave, finally all sorted out. Ellen always go to the 'Organ grinder" not the monkey, it seems some times paper work goes astray but it is always documented on their computer system, persistence does prevail..!!

Hi I am in $3000 fix after having bought a lounge from Harvey Norman. I am hoping someone can advise me asap on this about my chances of any favorable outcome, if they have been in a similar situation ever. It was an honest lapse of judgment on our part and now we have ended up with a beautiful brand new fabric lounge chaise which does not fit at all. I am not expecting to get a refund but I would like to return it and buy something else instead. It was just delivered a few hours ago and is still brand new except it is out of its packaging. What are my chances I am extremely disappointed because there is no possibility of us fitting it in our unit without blocking our entrance?

Everything they sell is made in China, so they have to wait for the manufacturer to make a decision. It seems like they don't want any accountability for the products they sell.

reyre2000

You consumers have made it this way. Pay more, buy Australian. You want cheap, too bad when things go wrong. Dont understand how everyone wants to pay Chinese prices but get superior quality.

Depending on the price first you have to ask Harvey Norman if they will consider replacing or repairing the rockers given they have only lasted a little over 12 months. If you don't get a satisfactory response try your local Fair Trading Office/Consumer Affairs Dept in your State. I've done this and they will tell you if you can get any satisfaction through them straight away. It might mean a bit paperwork through them but its worth a try.

I don't think if you drop your iPod and crack the screen that it would be covered under warranty so you might just have to get a new one.

I doubt two computers in a row really didnt work. You were probably putting something into where it didnt belong, like a modem into a usb 3.0 high speed slot causing BSOD which even the store people dont realise causes BSOD and would then think was a faulty computer.
As for wanting something more thats a bit um greedy. Id just settle for a working version of the product you wanted at the price you agreed to pay.

Colin59

wrong kane Harvey Norman staff came to the house with the replacement computer they tried to get the first to work it failed as did the second one.
it was a fault with the computer so i suggest that you keep your views to yourself inso far as being greedy on my part.. The HP all in one did have huge problems and these were fixed in the next model.
