worst over priced gps ever

published

The simple truth is: buy something else for on or off road. Navman is good. This is the worst gps I've ever owned.
Old maps, Bad battery, campsites useless. The unit should be a fraction of the price to suite the quality.

Purchased in June 2021 at ARB for $699.00.

Terrible Hardware

published

Battery dies after 12 months, bought a larger capacity battery of the internet and replaced it with that, worked alright for a couple months now refuses to turn on even when connected to twelve volt. software had malfunctioned and now refuses to run either maps just comes up with an error message, got hardly any use since new, I think the heat just kills these things Hema support was no help. this thing is a complete waste of money.

Purchased in August 2021 at BCF for $500.00.

HX7 going into test patern

published

Use my HX7 all the time it's just over eyes old but lately it works for about 1 hour when fully charged and on 12 volt charging while in use the unit goes into an old test pattern mode of tv. Reset leaving it charging before going again into street or 4wheel drive mode will work for a short period and again test pattern.

HN7 worked great

published

owned my HN7 for approx. 2 years. Fell of windscreen once breaking 12volt connector that only cost $20 to renew but sadly also damaged internal connection which hema would not fix.On looking my self the part was only soldered to computer board with 4small dots of solder also battery is held in by sticky tape not great for off road gps so now am looking for replacement.$699 not well spent

Hema Products

The information is accurate and easy to navigate. It's also easy to install in the vehicle. I have the HN5i but have found the computer program difficult to navigate and use, and I like technology! I have also found the battery has died and only runs off 12v power. I am unable to get another battery as the manufacturer no longer makes that part and cannot be supplied from an aftermarket outlet. I have logged heaps of GPS points but that might be wasted unless I buy another HEMA product and work out how to transfer it via the computer program. I'm sure this will take hours, if not days, if at all!

Unit makes a squealing noise and shuts down

published

Unit dies with out being plugged into 12 volt and lasts about 5 minutes and it makes a squealing noise then has multiple lines running vertical on the screen and no maps, have tried resetting and lasts about 5 minutes. Not happy as it cost around $600.00 and lasted only a few years.

Horrendous, and being generous at that.

This is very complicated to use but once I finally learned the system and got comfortable using it the battery died. So I sent to Hema and had it replaced, 4 months later the second battery died. I use the cable they provide make sure the charging port is adequate, it shouldnt be this hard. This is supposed to be a unit you use out in the bush to keep you on track, how can it keep you on track when its constantly dying. Buy something else.

Terrible service matches terrible product

published

Customer service is poor and unhelpful. Was purchased for off roads maps and this function is not intuitive and I even had lessons on using it! Zoom function is slow to to point of not being useable. Don't even bother trying to update it unless you have an IT degree. Audio is weak. Poor battery life. Stick with paper maps.

Poor volume; not easy to use

published

Speaker very poor, impossible to hear the blue tooth function for phone. Very hard to hear directions when moving at maximum volume. Device is not intuitive to use and very slow to upload. There are way better options for sat navs out there, even google maps! I would not recommend this product, even for the 4wd functions which are only at ver large scale and no better than your smartphone.

It would be good if you could hear what it saids.

Very hard to hear the audio, with speaker volume set on maximum it is very week. Output volume less than 77dbs where my old GPS output was 88 dbs. Sent back to technical department, claimed to have replaced the speaker, which was a waste of time. In a 2014 Colorado you cannot hear most messages over road and general traveling noises. $600 plus for something you cannot hear properly is very poor.

Never Again!

published

Bought the much lauded HN7 before Xmas 2014 and headed off to Perth from Brisbane. As we did not do any 4wding it was used for road travel only. It was slow to load functions when using the touchscreen and we assumed that was the way it is! Recently I left it sitting on the centre console, out of the sun as is my custom and leant on it getting back in the car and cracked the screen, yup my fault. Contacted Hema through their hard to find tech help to ask how to get it repaired, still no response after 4 weeks, so now using a Garmin for my directions!
