Best car we have ever owned
Holden Colorado 2011 LX. Dual cab 4x4 turbo diesel.
Very fuel efficient, is used as daily work and family car as well as some 4WDing. Hasn’t skipped a beat, smooth to drive. Has 3 anchor points and roomy. Loved it so much I learned to drive manual just to drive it. Will keep for myself when partner upgrades to newer model.
Purchased in February 2021.

Holden Colorado 2011 4x4 Diesel
I LOVE my car. I have never had any issues with it. Definitely has a bit of up and go about it. Quite cheap to run! Would never go back to a petrol now. Most reliable car I have ever owned. Tows everything fine - most importantly - the boat.

Towed my 2.5 ton van for 50,000 is no problems
Excessive wind noise. Rough ride. 1st gear is too high near burnt the clutch out at the lights. Still good though. Don't understand people with clutch problems.16 lts per 100 ks towing the van, dingy on roof and plenty of stuff in the back.Use Flashlube fuel additive and change the oil and filter every 5000ks. No problems. Use air bags brilliant.

Would buy another tomorrow
I have had this vehicle from new in 2010. I love it but there was an issue with the timing chain stretching. At 40k kms a noise started in the engine that proved to be the timing chain to be stretched. Holden found away to replace it by carefully pulling it out and getting the new one in without major work. This was done under warranty. The noise came back at 115k kms and proved to be the same issue again. Holden again replaced it but not under warranty because that had expired. They did reduce the cost and I was charged $550. Holden suggeste...Read more
d changing engine oil grade to 5w-30 (I use Valvoline MST). The vehicle has now done 228k kms and hasn't missed a beat since. The original shock absorbers were soft from new but when replaced with Munroe gas shocks it transformed the handling to be 100 times better than new! Pitty it doesn't have side airbags and the cup holders in the vehicle are useless otherwise a pretty good ute.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Waste of Time
110 thousand ks and on its 4th clutch. The previous 3 have all been claimed under warranty however the latest one was out of warranty (just!) Holden do not want to know about the issue after 2 faulty fittings...... crap service.
We requested the parts back as we were were told it was the pressure plate that had failed. However it was the thrust bearing that had failed (the previous problem as well). The pressure plate was fine until we turned it over. The entire outer surface was covered in deep gouge marks and the bolt holes were no longer c...Read more

Really great Vehicle
I have a 2009 Holden Colorado Turbo Diesel, from New. Have never had any problems with it, and have only had to replace the tyres, fan belts, and the battery the clutch and brakes are still very good after 144.800klms. I must admit that I have had several New Vehicles, but this is the best so far. This Vehicle has been very very reliable.

Been a Perfect Car
Bought the 2010 Lee 4wd in 2014 with 68k on the clock, have now added another 60k and it hasn't missed a beat! Most expensive repair I've had to do was clutch slave cylinder at a 110k. With the rest being minor, (battery, air con re-gas, & interior fan replaced) pretty good on fuel, 10km/100 around town and down to 9.7km on the open road, have traveled form Albury to Darwin three time (4000km one way) and has never let me down, runs smoothly, and was comfortable to travel in on the highway (love cruise control) has done plenty of off reading and aging has always been reliable, 4wd system has worked flawlessly.

Does everything i ask of a 4wd
Bought my 2009 diesel auto 4 door ute with canopy 2nd hand off a plumber that towed a trailer daily. Ive had it over 2 years and i think its a great car. Motor has some go when you put your foot down. 10l/100km have had it around 9 on highway. 180k on it
Changed brake booster.
Interior light unit needs replacing.
Not much console or places to put wallets phone etc. Cupholders are useless in the middle.
Love the push button 4wd engagement.

Problems with engine
The problem is that Holden and most other manufactures recirculate their crank case pressure hose back through the air intake side of the turbo and from there into the intercooler and throttle body . Hence carbon build up inside the intercooler throttle body and everywhere else eg fins of turbo . It's a well known problem for all manufactures . My car was running down in power and the motor was getting very lazy plus very bad fuel consumption . I pulled the intercooler off cleaned it out it was filthy cleaned the throttle body and everything ...Read more
else out . Blocked off the Crank case line and ran a breather hose for the engine and it hasn't ran better . Holden service dept are just parts fitters they are not mechanics they have no diagnostic ability whatsoever .they plug in a diagnostic tool and if they cannot find a fault they will just replace parts until the problem is fixed and at the expense of the owner of the vehicle . Holden have done a fair bit of dodgy work on my Colorado and if it wasn't for my brother in law being a very good diesel fitter it would have cost me a lot of money I will never ever deal with these rip off hopeless so called mechanics ; parts fitters againSimilar opinion? Need to own a bank to run
5-60 thousand kept on loosing coolant, countless hoses replaced, on third radiator, 2nd water pump and finally found leak in butterfly gasket in engine. It took a lot of persuasion but finally fixed on warranty at about 90 thousand k. 1 year out of warranty found out last radiator put in by Holden was incorrect and had to be replaced (4th radiator). Water started leaking again mechanic removed top of engine and found Holden had not fixed problem but lowered pressure so that it wouldn't leak so new radiator (the right one) started leak up and showed where it had been leaking for years. So new timing chains heaps more and 6k later it's back on the road. Will never go near Holden again.

Rubbish
Most unreliable expensive rubbish ever owned. New clutch, new injectors, new throttle body, new air flow sensor, new glow plugs and the cars only got 70k and fully serviced by Holden. Unbelievable that a car bought brand new and well maintained can cost so much to keep running and Holden don't want to know about it. Will never buy a Holden again and have told everyone I know and will keep telling everyone the same - shame on you Holden - call yourself an Aussie icon.

Worst car worst service
Bought a brand new 2009 Colorado - fully serviced by Holden and in 6 years had only 70k on clock. At 33k had to replace clutch $4k, 60k had to replace injectors $4k and recently at 70k have had to replace glow plugs which had so much carbon build up it cost $3k to remove and replace, last week throttle body has packed up and now needs replacing - unbelievable how much car has cost me in expenses and lost work - probably the most expensive most unreliable car the mechanics has ever seen ( his words) will never buy any Holden again as they wont lift a finger and take dome responsibility.

ive got a 2010 Colorado petrol v6 and had many issues with my O2 sensors. Changed them out a number of times, changed both cat convertors and even had a auto electrician go through my wiring but i keep coming up with a O2 code. It normally takes a day or 2 but after clearing the code or changing out the sensors it keeps coming back. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
