Faults reviewed after 100,000 KM.
After travelling 100,000 Km in my MY2011 Colorado LTR 3 litre diesel Ute I have found a few annoying problems.
1. The unit is very noisy inside the cab when cruising at highway speeds.
2. The turning circle is wide and awkward and makes parking difficult in small areas.
3. Poor storage space and inadequate pockets in the cab.
4. The ute tray is badly sealed and even with a canopy fitted fills with dust on gravel roads.
In spite of this it tows my 2.5 tonne caravan quite easily and the fuel consumption is reasonable for the weight.
Zero mechanical faults have shown up except for replacing tyres and 1 broken air conditioner belt.

2011 Single Cab Ute
CON's - What a bloody annoying machine. Push button transfer shift is often slow and frustrating - I don't like relying on a computer to put it in 4WD. The drivers window refuses to wind up easily and the internal mechanism keeps on bending - replaced internal mechanism and reinforced it but just can't get it to work properly so I think I will have to get a new door eventually. The air conditioning can't even cool a single cab constantly at 33+ degrees. The engine has no all low down torque and needs to be put in low range for taking off in r...Read more
everse uphill. Bloody thirsty. A mild sneeze will knock off the wing mirrors (but can easily be fixed with a large bolt) LSD doesn't seem to work, but I haven't seen LSD work on anything yet. The hand brake ratchet wore out and the whole unit had to be replaced - I still don't trust it on these steep hills PRO's - Heaps of power, like most modern utes - just roll yourself a smoke while you are waiting tor the turbo lag. Low range is wonderfully slow and with a bit if a lift I could take this thing anywhere. So far haven't had any engine troubles (60 000 farm k's) and don't expect any for a while - Isuzu motors are generally pretty good. Needs lift and beefier springs before you bring it home to the farm. Reasonably priced - you get what you pay for. Quiet and stuck to the road like a dead cat when I was wearing out the factory tyres so I could buy proper offroaders 09Jan16 - Just busted the front axle whilst turning sharp under a bit of power (offroad with not much load on the axle). This is the second time this has happened with this vehicle. I have never had this happen to me before and I have driven a helluva lot of 4wd's offroad. 15Mar16 - Toxic smoke from behind the dash - uh oh, there goes the fan and air conditioning!Similar opinion? 2011 Colorado LTR
Have had my ute since new and apart from a nagging issue with reversing sensors disengaging when reversing with horse float on (now fixed) it has been awesome. Tows float with one or two horses like a dream. Has been to Qld and back and about to go again not to mention comfortable to drive. Love it to bits.

Falls apart after warranty period
To put it simply I'm just not happy with the quality of the vehicle. It started just after the 5 year mark (which is also the warranty period right?). First a flat battery which was no problems, replaced & fitted (at our expense of course). Next it wouldn't pass rego as all the shocks needed replacing. We were advised to put 'better quality' 'old man emu' brand on, as, in the opinion of kmart tyre & auto, the vehicles shocks are not really up to off roading (as the vehicle is advertised), again our expense around $1500.
Now the vehicle is a...Read more
t a diesel mechanic who advises all fuel injectors & fuel pump need replacing. They also advised installing a filtration system to prevent the problem occurring again. Grand total of $4279 paid from our holiday savings (excluding 2 visits to kmart tyre & auto prior to this trying to establish the source of the problem at around $80 per visit)! I expect more from a top notch diesel vehicle under 6 years old with 171000kms on the clock. I have never had to spend this kind of money on a vehicle before. It has cost us, including my 3 year old daughter our family holiday.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Steerring wheell unroadworthy before original tyres worn out.
I Bought a brand new Colorado in Feb. 2010. It has just 71,000kms on it and for the last 10,000kms the steering wheel has been rolling off from under our hands. The outer skin is peeling and like marbles under your hand. Holden customer service on there reference number 166003844 said because its out of warranty by time but not kms I have to pay half the retail cost of the steering wheel (OVER 600 DOLLARS ). So I bought a new genuine leather wheel new in box part number 97403900 that retails for $994.98 from ebay for $310 posted. ebay ite...Read more
m 261645405869. So basically Holden mark up there spare parts so in the event you get a 50% warranty claim your still paying for the entire repair bill. I would have thought that my tyres would wear out before a Holden Steering wheel but apparently I am mistaken. The Colorado is only 4 years old and already one power window doesn't work at all . When the genuine battery died it leaked acid all over the under bonnet and suspension area . This has caused extensive rust as if it were a beach driven vehicle . The undercarriage has to be repainted at my expense .Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
2010 Holde Colorado 4x4 3.0 Turbo
Have had my Holden Colorado about 4months now bought at 101 000k's on the clock have had no trouble with it at all all 4wding is good, Colorado is abit low but goin to lift it 2". Little steering wheel shake but needs an alignment, plenty of power and good handling and got my Mrs to trade her Nissan on the new Holden Trax. Good customer service and friendly at Southern Downs Auto Warwick Holden/Mazda.
Power, starts everytime.
A bit low for 4wding.

Purchased this car in 2010 as new. Has been amazing so far, no issues and have done 70'000, just change the oil and filters. Recommend for 4wd touring has done really well and kept up with the big boys, done a 2" lift as they sit a bit low. Great on the beach.

Just brought my 08/09 Colorado
Just brought my 08/09 Colorado with 65540k and am having a problem with the fuel filter fault light coming on when I go up a rise under power or try and drive at 100kph or above. I have drained the fuel line and No water, I have also replaced the fuel filter and still have the same problem.
What next? Is anybody seen the same fault? And have they fixed it?
Great drive

Very good!
I purchased a 2008 (Isuzu based) twin cab Colorado new in 2009. We have towed an 18foot caravan almost 60,000 Kms with it and around 15,000 a smaller van. We have covered over 174,000 Kms all told. It does take hi-flow diesel pumps; it likes to have a burp before it fills up. Service from our local dealer has been impeccable. Still on original clutch and brakes. Front end floats a little. Air conditioner belt broke and destroyed a front sensor and it's wiring; trouble with a fuel sensor. Transmission oil seal leak.
This model is very different to current model.
Reliability instills confidence, roomy cabin with child safety seat anchorage points. Tows very well
Servicing every 10,000 Kms can be expensive

Top Vehicle
I have a 2009 4x4 twin cab and have done 137,821 klm. It is fitted with the alloytec V6, it is used to tow my Coromal 661 Van and the only complaints that I have with it is the turning circle which is not very good and the accessibility of the oil filter when changing it time comes.

rough ride
2011 duel cab rc v6, I travel around 700k a week in this ute, i have never had to visit a chiropractor until i owed this car now i go once a week, wife and kids would prefer to catch the bus than ride in this thing.
radiator split at 120k and dumped its coolant into the auto box and fuel consumption is all over the place between bad and extreme, making planing long trips difficult and it dents really easy so stay away from car parks and trucks.
cheap spares,
realy uncomfortable

Reliable
Ive had a 2009lx Colorado till now. The aircon electrics weren't great for me.. It was a basic but differcult to diagnose issue that left me with a summer of heat. Recently a injector valve gave rise to stalling again simple but hard to diagnose.
Car is great off road. Great on fuel. No other issue at all with the ute. Will buy an Isuzu dmax just to try out a similarly reliable machine.
Great, off road sand- takes a hard knock, on fuel, reliable, well priced
Air con fault, injector valve fault

Worst 4wd ute ever
At 14k clutch gave out (no towbar fitted) at 15k 4wd sensors gave out (4 off) at 24k oil seals to diff stuffed
Except for the sensors no warranty was forthcoming, The dealers/service state that these cars cannot be driven in any water, on any sand, on any beach,or in mud, (unlike the adds) if you do you will void warranty. The vehicles are expensive to service and the dealers dont keep any parts for the cars, so it normally takes the repairs 1-2 weeks to be completed. we bought this vehicle to tow a trailer, and go up the beach, its useless.
low to the ground
a toy not worth the money

Great duel cab ute
The 2011 Holden Colorado is a good little ute. i've been where the big 4wds go and had no problems. iI would recommend it to anyone, plenty of power with the 3ltr turbo diesel. i do 600ks a week to and from work and it cost me $50.00 thats 1/2 a tank, great on fuel.
the 3 ltr turbo diesel has so much power
Needs more high on the suspenion i had to fit a 2' lift kit for better handling.

ad. this means every single time you hit a pot hole or rut off road that wheel leaves the ground and no longer provides any traction. adding to this you now have a wheel spining with the cv joint cranked at an unnatural angle compaired to factory and when and if it gets traction it shocks the drive train. at worst it can bust open a cv joint . Intipendant front ends cant be moded and raised like a coil spring landruiser or patrol . all you do is shift the tavel to favor compresion and this gives you the lift but at the same time it moves the car further from its bumpstops and this extra travel twisting the torsion bars when you bottom out on a dad road causes more stress on the chasis points, control arm bushes and even can snap a torsion bar. normaly the torsion bar just ages quicker. alowing the big foot tough truck ego to overrule comon sence and therory reduces the vehicles 4x4 capabuility as its now going to have a wheel in the air more often loosing traction., good luck with that atitude. . it will get you stuckI am lucky to ever get 600kms on a full tank. normaly get -550 and the fuel light comes on, no load not towing town car in north queensland.
