Good ute but trade in value pathetic

published

Bought LS ute in 2015. Had engine replaced under warranty after 30000kms due to excessive oil use, with good service by Holden. Ute now has only done 66000kms which is about half red book estimate (motor has only done 35k), has still got 5 months warranty left and has over $7000 worth of accessories fitted, but Holden will still only offer red book value of $20k as a trade in on a new ute. So I won't be buying!

Purchased in July 2021 for $40,000.00.

RG1 great for what it is

published

Purchased the RG1 as a workhorse in Oct 13. 5 years on, have replaced alternator (warranty @ 3 years 115k) and Air Con compressor @ 180k. 210k and just fitted 3rd set of tires (100k per set), drives great and auto is as smooth as any car I’ve driven. Towa 2 1/2 ton of boat beautifully. So happy with it, I bough a Z71 RG2 in Oct 2015 which is a bit smoother (110k) and no issues. I drive both of them hard and service when due. Neither leak or use oil. We do a lot of highway and interstate Ks and find both very comfortable on the road.

Purchased in November 2021 at Barry Bourke Holden for $33,000.00.

LTZ RG Colorado 2012 - 2013

published

Vibration throughout the car
Who's pinion seal doesn't leak?
Who's passanger seat doesn't wobble like a mofo without a body sitting on it?

New valves needed just before 100,000km shat itself.

Wish I kept in and put a gen3 in it tho. Other than that.... They're POX be cautious if you're buying one aye.

Blown Head Gasket

published

Well, just completed service at 120K.This vehicle has had a very easy life.No towing, very little off road ( Fraser, Bloomfield)never overheated and always driven conservatively. But it has a leak from the cylinder head gasket at right hand rear of block.Using a very small amount of water.I would have thought this engine would have lasted a LOT longer before needing major surgery.I have been told by two mechanics that they have seen a few of these models with the same problem. Not happy or impressed at all.

Excellent car. 2012 DX 4x4 model single cab. My work car has done 200,000. Towing 2ton trailer every day. Never had a problem, oil consumption 0, manual transmission beautiful, servicing every 5,000-7,500. Upgrade catch can,Stainless steel exhaust, air bags on rear, future upgrade bigger intercooler and that's it.
I heard lots of issues with Colorado but mine is absolutely great.

My 2012 Colorado with only 70000km just shut down while driving every thing still works on it, just wont start then just like that it just starts up and every thing is fine. 2 months later stopped it then would not start, after 20 minutes just starts up, 2 months later stop it, go to drive it after work wont start, on to tilt tray off to dealer they have a look at the next day just starts strait up can not find anything problem with it, 2 months later go to start it after work wont start, 1 hour later just starts up, every time it has started I was moving wires on top of motor.

Noisy leaf Springs 2015 Ltz 2wd manual

published

Love my colorado bought brand new...now 18000km
Always full of tools and truck barely feels it
Had issues with squeaky leaf Springs which took several visits to fix (they had to grind off any sharp edges amd put sound dampering tape between the leafs) but the dealer never doubted my word even though it was an intermittent problem..
Been over a month and not a sound
Do sometimes wish a got an auto whenever I get drive thru and wanna eat on the way home but on the open road I love the gears
I do wish the peddles were further apart for work boots

Been around Australia towing 3 tonne with 400 kg in the tub. Not one issue.

published

Bought my 2012 LTZ dual cab auto in Feb 2013 as a work car in my plumbing business. This car carries up to 700 kg every working day ( I installed airbags in the back) and its ride is more comfortable than my wifes 2010 Prado.
With this load it does 13L/100k in the city 10L/100k freeway.
We did a 18000K trip around Australia towing a Jayco Sterling tipping 3 tonne with 2 kids the wife and I with not one problem. Not even a change of oil in that time.
After our trip I serviced it - (Capped price $280), loaded the tools back in it and still hasn't missed a beat at 55000 ks.
After meeting others on the road and hearing their misfortunes about blown engines in the mazda bt-50, I think the Colorado is great value and recommend it to anyone.

I had a similar problem with my LTZ 4x2 in 2013. after 8000km it seems to come good - the dealer was unable to fix the problem so I just put up with it.

Colorado RG 4x2 (2012-2020)

firstly I am assuming that the Colorado motor is at its "roughest" between 2 and 3000 revs because in this rev range it causes a vibration in predominately the left front side of the car . Has been doing this for about 80,000k now and its naturally getting worse. I guess most of you have had a problem and taken it to a mechanic and the bloody thing wont give the symptom at all or only slightly, this is what happened on the several occasions I have taken it to the dealer. The tone of the vibration/growl/noise or whatever you want to call it changes if the road has gentle undulations. I cant do too much investigation myself due to my arthritis but what I have found is in my opinion too much play where the inner front CV joints go into the gearbox ( I dont mean the joint itself but the actual outer body) this I feel would explain the change in tone going over undulations Any one else had this problem ?
