Hi. I am looking to purchase a 2009 Omega UTE for my daily drive. It has 230km on it. The engine sounds good, and both the interior n exterior has been well maintained.

Never owned a UTE before, so am looking for some advice. Thoughts?

Hi
I recently purchased a 2008 ss VE ute, very clean with 170k's. the car is great, but in the 3 weeks I've owned it i have experienced a failure to start...the engine fires, then dies, as if the fuel pump has been shut off. After 2 or 3 attempts it always starts, but this is an intermittent fault....it will be fine for a few days and then it recurs. Would a plug in scanner like an OBD 2 reveal what the problem is? The car is my pride and joy and i was just hoping for some advice.
Cheers
p.s. Car is 6 Litre auto

Ute VE (2007-2013)

Hi, I’ve owned my ss thunder 2012 6.0L ve series 2 manual. So far I’ve had the OTR, 3Inch catback from the heads, and a cam package.ive been haveing major issues with the fuel pump in the last year. I’ve gone through 4 fuel pumps and I do t do burnouts etc. we have reorder twice from Holden and have tried customs ones but still haveing issues. The pump won’t complete die, it’s sometimes starts and then sometime it won’t. The times when it doesn’t start I get under where the fuel tank is and smack it a couple of times and the pump kicks back in, this goes on for about 3 months and then out of nowhere she won’t start. Any ideas please? I’m in need of a different solution besides fuel pump? Could anything else be affecting the pump. ? I really want this fixed cause it is starting to bug me and I think I might just sell it. Cheers Bryan

Could be a relay or sensor issue, any fault codes showing up ?

Chances are the root cause of the problem isn't the fuel pump. If it was mine I would Check/replace the fuel pump relay as it may have dodgy contacts. High resistance in the relay contacts could cause the pump to be running on a lower voltage than required causing premature failure? For what they cost I would change it anyway as they do wear out. Check voltage on the pump when its running with a volt meter.
Another potential problem could be low voltage? The charging voltage needs to be checked with a volt meter. 14.4 volts comes to mind but im not sure on a series 2. Again im not sure if it is ECM controlled or done with an internal regulator? The alternators don't last as long as they should in these
The car must have been tuned for the cam and depending on how big it is it may be maxed out ? Pumps run for a long time usually unless contaminated or overworked. Does it hold pressure in the rails when turned off? Is the tank clean?
