Hey everyone. I want to do an engine swap on my 07 holden viva, what other engines could I put in it?
Or is there a way to make the engine in it less sluggish? It takes a while to get to 60kph then just flys after that.

I'm guessing yours is an automatic? mine is manual with under 80,000klms and a while back the car became very gutless and I had to drive flat out everywhere almost like the engine was burnt out, then I brought a new TPS (throttle position sensor) best thing I ever did, just a cheap one from eBay 5min job to replace and it transformed it into a little rocket, almost impossible to drive in the wet due to how much more power it has.
As for an engine swap, it's not worth it in a viva as you can only swap it with an engine of same size from a later model car, given the viva was discontinued there was no later model with an improved version of the current engine. Changing to a corolla engine or something like that is financially a waste of money as the vehicle will need to be engineered in order for it to legally be registered with such a modification, then there's the whole electrical system which would also need to be changed to support a different ECU which won't communicate with the current BCM. What your talking about doing could easily set you back $10k on a car worth $2k on a good day. Tweak your current engine, new plugs, filters, maybe look into seeing what your fuel pressure is like as I have also replaced the fuel pump, penrite synthetic hpr5 is the best oil I found for helping get rid of the tappety engine sound, avoid using E10 fuel, I always use premium 95 or 98 and I get very close to 700klms per tank, viva's are also renown for carbon issue with the motor so have it carbon cleaned every year or you can use the Subaru upper cylinder lubricant/cleaner with positive results too.
Best of luck.
PS the fact that viva is just a re-badged Daewoo, maybe look into what other engines they used in Daewoo's, it could be a little more financially feasible just to swap it with another Daewoo engine which would avoid costly engineering reports

My 08 viva hasn't used oil before but used 3ltrs in 6hrs of driving. Power loss and engine smoke and smell, so would I be looking towards the PCV valve?
Thanks in advance

Mine is manual so it doesn't have cruise control, but play with the buttons on the steering wheel when you turn cruise on, if that doesn't change anything I'd be looking at replacing the speed sensor

My brother has a 2008 holden viva, we cannot see where the radio antenna is.

It's built into the windscreen, if you look at the top of the windscreen around the height of where the rear view mirror is you'll see like a brown line or 2 going across the top, that's the actual antenna, if it's not there then someone has cheaped out when replacing the windscreen.

I had the same problem, check with your mechanic, it might just only need to add FREON. If compressor is the problem, need to replace.

Have a ticking noise in engine of holden viva 2008 model auto any ideas 135k on clock

That's common, it's a viva, the engine is poorly designed, the ticking noise you can hear is the sound of the inlet valves opening and closing as they are too close to the inlet manifold, anything other than that I would just be guessing at what it would be, but without hearing it, it can be anything from fuel injectors to bad hydraulic lifters

What do u recommend I should do if it is the problem is there a fix for it

Dazza
Dazza

Unfortunately there is no fix for it, I've tried everything from different grades of engine oil, oil additives, fuel additives I've tried em all and nothing changes it, what's worse is mine has done 68,000 and it sounds like an old taxi that's done a million kilometers
