I have one running for my back garden area which functions perfectly well, I have one installed in my front garden which either switches itself on at random times and then doesn’t switch off and now and again the pre set times don’t come on at all. Is this a faulty unit as this is the second one not working properly I have already returned one unit back to Bunnings. Do these units become confused because of other electronic devises close by, as with the unit I have left over I want to install for the other part of my front lawn area? Additionally Bunnings only wanted to refund me for a single unit, I originally purchased a twin pack. After much debate I did receive an appropriate refund.
Hi Keith,
Is the unit that you are having trouble with a BTX1A or BTX1b ??
I used to have all these issues as you have and I have worked out that the issue is the 9V battery - there are many on the ma...
After 4 weeks of use, my BTX1b isn't allowing full pressure. It turns on and off both manually, and automatically (scheduled) but its only allowing about 25% of the water pressure through, like the valve isn't opening properly.
This is a replacement for another BTX1 that i returned after a similar thing happened to that one. Is this a regular fault? Is there a reset button on the device for the valve? or should i just return it again?
Hi can you have 2 paired devices or is it only 1, also can you turn off and on manually by the tap if required ?
Yes i had two devices paired simultaneously and I'm sure you can have more devices. You can only operate the devices manually via the Holman App. There is no manual on/off switch on the device itself.
I have a couple faulty btx1 bunnings no longer stock where can I return them
Hello Kym, We are sorry to hear you are having issues with your timers, you will need to have them returned to Bunnings with your docket for a refund if they are not operating correctly. We no longer...
Read more have stock of this item so they cannot be replaced, however, Bunnings will offer you a refund or a store credit with your docket. Thank you, your Holman Team! How do I set the automatic rain delay? The instructions don't work? Graham
Hello Graham,
The BTX1 cannot attach to a rain sensor so this feature is not operational. Thank you, your Holman Team!
Hi there,
If we go away on a holiday can the system still work without us being there to run the app?? We only just installed this quite frustrating that it only syncs to one device as my partner also works away and now we have to do a reset to configure the system to put my device on instead.
Hello Lisa, The timer will hold the programme until you change it again. You will not need to be in range for the timers to operate automatically. Unfortunately with bluetooth, only one device can be paired at a time. Thank you, your Holman Team!
Hello,
I'm having issues reconnecting to the smart valve through Igardener. I had to get my phone replaced and I can't connect to the app with my new phone. How do I get connect with my new phone?
Hello Stuart, Please remove the battery for 5 mins to reset the timer. Your unit should now connect to your phone. Be sure you have allowed location/bluetooth settings when prompted on the first downl...

The other turn on but won't turn off in timer mode but works fine in manual mode. The same unit does not appear to synconise with the time set
This morning the system failed to turn on with the program. It has worked every other day?
Reinstalled app twice but it won’t scroll past zone 3. Not much use really. I have been using it for a couple of years without this problem.
i had problems with the app no connecting to the device. my advice is get rid of it as it nothing but trouble. better systems on the market that work and you don't have problems with
Did you flush phone cache after uninstall.. it may have some old settings or a corrupt file preventing a new clean install
I've having a big issue when using raw water, the filter gets blocked every 2 cycles. Is it possible to run the device without the filter?
Hello Ben, please let us know what you mean by raw water. Do you mean grey water, dam or bore water? If the water has particles in it, you cannot use this item without a filter, the particles will jus...
Read moret build-up elsewhere inside the timer and cause it to stop functioning.Dam/river water, so unfiltered. Do you have any recommendations of how I can avoid having to clean the filter every 1-2 days?
Hello Ben, we would suggest some sort of in-line filter before the timer. Please visit with your local irrigation for advice on a better set-up for your irrigation. A BTX1 runs a solenoid valve and n...
Read moreeeds both pressure and clean water to operate correctly.Hey there,
I'm wondering if anyone has any wisdom re my BTX1B's
I recently (in the last month) bought 3 of the BTX1B's for our garden.
So far I have had to return 2 due to faults (refusing to couple to bluetooth, or be seen).
Now another 2 of the 3 units are refusing to work reliably -
One fails to connect via bluetooth at all.
The other connects but repeatedly fails to open the valve - the only way I can get it to work (for a couple of manual test cycles) is to stop any water input into the unit, pull out the battery [10 or so seconds], replace it, push the reset button for the open/close (the valve only opens when there is no water pressure - otherwise it makes a small 'tick' sound but doesn't open).
After doing this I can get generally a couple of cycles of watering before having to re-do this process.
I'm using an android phone app for this.
I use multiple bluetooth items with this phone and none of the other items have any issues.
Any help appreciated as I'm concerned I'm going to be having to keep on exchanging these units regularly until I can get some that reliably work [or get a refund and get another system - any reliable recommendations let me know].
Get a refund and grab something else mate. There’s enough reviews on this device to be sure there is no long term future for the BTX1... it’s a dud.
I agree with Josh. Go get a refund on all three. These units are unreliable as I also have had the same problem. I also had great difficulty finding the reset button. Bought a Gardenia [german made] Select to replace.
My newly purchased BTX1 appears to be programmed properly to start but just doesn’t come on. Works manually. Any ideas?
Ashen you create the program on your app you need to update the valve. You will notice on the top left where the tabs are it will be flashing saying “update required” click on that and it will send the program to the valve.
Thank you for your reply Harry. I had done everything correctly including updating but it turns out I had a dud - in fact two of them! Holman were excellent when I phoned them about the issue and imme...
Read morediately offered to replace them. The new ones work perfectly. One very happy customer now :)I have three BTX1B units and all exhibit the same problem which is: select manual watering, select the number of minutes to run and touch start. Time turns on just fine but only ever runs for about 60 seconds and then turns the water of again. According to the app it is still watering. Ideas? John.
Check the units don’t need a software update in the app as a starting point, if they do, apply it and try again. If that fails do a warranty return.
Hi,
On the app I have the 7day watering mode turned on with every day enabled, start time at 6:00am and run time 30 mins. Most days it works but then every few days it comes on at 6:00 but never turns off. Usually, we notice this and can turn it off but this weekend it turned on on Saturday and didn't turn off so it continued watering until we were back at the workplace on Monday and had flooded the garden. Is this just faulty or is there something we can do to fix this?
This happened to me, but I found it after a couple of hours. It is a faulty valve. In my case the electronics seem to work, but the valve sticks when under pressure. I have never had any other issu...
Read moree like this with older battery devices, no matter how cheap. If you look, you will find plenty of these have had the same issue.Hello
I have purchased one of these quite a while ago, Worked well and continues to work. Model BTX1A
However, I then purchased a second one and while it connects well with Bluetooth, the solenoid would not work. I took it back to Bunnings and replaced it with another new one - BTX1B - . This one too has the same problem. I have changed the battery to high quality one, no difference. Communicates fine but solenoid just will not seem to turn on. Does anyone have any suggestions? Not sure if Model version A cf B makes a difference.
My husband had app installed on his phone. He is heading overseas for a few months so he uninstalled so could put it on my phone. Have followed all steps and keep getting same install error message. Any suggestions?
It would reasonable to allow two phones so we can both control unit if needed.
I have 5 BTX1B pumps. Until recently I had 2 of them set up to water the back lawn on a timed schedule using the Holman app. Now all 5 of them will turn on and off manually, but when you schedule them they turn on fine but never turn off until I do it manually (using the app). Has there been an app update or firmware update or something recently? Or is there another explanation? Have I wasted my $250?
I have had 2 of these units. One has failed completely - wont turn off completely. One is still going, but the timer function seems to have had some change. Personally I think you have wasted your ...
Read moremoney, as I have also done. I have tried to contact Holman, but have never received a response other than message received. There must be better brands out there. I would return the product if you still have the receipt. Thanks for the quick response and the advice. I probably have wasted my money, judging by all the other posts I read today.
Same problem for me. Works OK manually. When I set to 7-day cycle it will turn on and off correctly for a couple of days then some days it just never turns off.
My BTX6 is Constantly giving “low batter error”. Doesn’t wanna do manual or programmed watering. I changed the batter but still no good. What could be the problem?
Our son has the btx6 and worked OK when battery was changed for a heavy duty Duracell. It seems that Holman's controllers are sensitive to battery voltage. I solved my btx1 problems by tossing it in ...
Read morethe bin. I don't think their range is any where near a reliable product and are being marketed with known faults. Shame on Holman.I have had a similar problem with a BTX1. When my unit showed a low voltage, I replaced the battery. I thought the unit was too sensitive to voltage change as the old battery was only 3 months old. ...
Read more I tested the battery I removed and it seemed ok. The unit communicated properly again, but then failed to reliably open and close the valve, resulting in excess water / loss when it failed to turn off. Fortunately we noticed after some hours, and the loss was not too destructive. I didnt have a receipt from Bunnings, so I have no hope of getting a replacement which I would not want in any case. I think that the best solution is to replace it with something else that works and to keep away from Holman as they dont respond to calls for assistance.Get an answer from our members and Holman representatives
