In fact, always start this or any other type / brand of cast iron pot in a cold oven and then bring up to required temperature. Never place a cold cast iron pot in a hot or very hot oven - there is risk of pot (any brand) shattering. You can put the unbaked dough in the cold pot - set the oven to desired temperature and bake for required time (cold bake method). Or, put pot in cold oven; heat pot to desired temperature - then take out heated pot and drop 'dough' into heated pot and place back in oven. This method is more common but requires care to avoid seriously burning hands or counter top. Have mittens and heat mat ready before starting to bake with this latter method.Do you have these in blue?
Do you have to "cook in" a cast iron skillet with vinegar?
If you are asking did I have to season the cast iron pot with vinegar before using, no I didn't. Whilst the Homemaker pot is cast iron, it has a enamel coating so you don't need to season it as you would if the cooking surface was just cast iron.
I did not do anything to any of my cast iron pots and pans... never had any issues with them
