Excellant car
Very smooth driving experience, great performance, easy handling and after 2 years i have only just started hearing slight rough engine noise.
Spacey interior with great looking dashboard and plenty of leg room.
Accord has been very reliable with average running cost. But i will say, good value for money.

Gorrell Honda Geelong
I received a recall notice from Honda. Rang Gorrells in Geelong, was told that I could make an appointment (2 hours) so they could check if the recall was needed and if it was would not be done till 2018. Not a good experience, particularly when Astoria Honda replaced part as part of service last week, and I always get a replacement car for the time my car is in for service.

Excessive oil burner
WARNING !!!! Don't by a HONDA.
Affter only 50,000 kms Honda my Honda uses 2 + Litres of oil between regular services.
The V6 had simlar issues in USA resulting in a class action against Honda. The VCM "variable cylinder management system" caused too much oil to enter cylinders.
In my case with the 4 cylinder vti 2.4l it has worn piston rings causing excessive oil burn. This car had only 50,000 kms and used as city car with not much work. Take it to a dealer and all you will get is an offer to do a leak down test at your expense...Grrrrr
Honda are keeping quite about this fault.

Once with a Honda, always with a Honda
Been driving a Honda for more than 20 years. My current Honda is a 30th Anniversary Honda Accord 2.4ltrs model.
Honda cars always handle well and very quiet on the inside. Their auto gearbox last a long time but needs to provide regular lubrication service. Love the powerful acceleration when required and very safe car to drive.
Once you drive a Honda, you will always want another.

Going strong
This car has undergone heavy use for almost a decade and still no major issues. The only things which needed repair were the airconditioner that needed regassing and a screw in the door latch that came loose and i could just tighten myself. The only downside is the fastener holding the back interior panel came loose not long after purchase and constantly rattles when driving. May annoy sensitive drivers.

Accord V6 2017 Terrible technology - Bluetooth connectivity has a lot of issues - Don't buy it.
Hi,
I have just bought Honda Accord 2017 last week and it has a lot of issues with the navigation/audio unit manufactured by Clarion. Despite a lot of people complaining about it on the Internet Honda seems not willing to do anything about it. While it was firstly acknowledged by the dealership they soon switched the tone to that it will not be fixed after they approached honda and clarion and realized that they are not willing to do aything about it.
While my phone is connected to the car bluetooth system I can't make any data call throu...Read more
gh any voip app. I had managed to find a workaround yet it does not work every time. Also for the normal phone calls, everytime you have to press the bluetooth icon on the phone to get the audio over the car system. !! Now the car is less than a week old, it has been to the car service twice and I have already a case opened with Honda 00243712. Please advice if you have the same issue so as we can take collective action if the matter reached the court.3 comments

Good car
Bought used car in 2016 with 35,000kms on it. Has big improvement compare with last generation. Love the dual big screens maker he car looks luxury, blind spot camera makes safe lane change and convenient parking. Good interior size and comfortable seats. Most mid end Japanese cars not really have good paint, mine already showing age, especially on front bumper. Has bit noise around glove box in cold days. Multimedia system occasionally has no response. All others are fine, about 8.8L/100kms, very economic for a 2.4L car

Great looking reliable car with some annoying issues.
The Good,
basically an upper class Camry with better looks, engine is a treat but you've got to rev it hard if you want the fruit. I've now done 185k and the car still looks sweet and I've only had to change the starter motor.
Really comfortable seats with premium leather and great rear legroom for tall teenagers, the boot space is ample and very happy for a full size spare wheel.
The Bad
Rear parcel shelf rattles, Honda will swear it doesn't, I had to fix by squeezing draught excluder foam between the rear screen and shelf, caused by ch...Read more

Accord V6 - Great Car
Updated current generation 4 cylinder series 1 to V6 series 2 - best thing I ever did.
Series 2 is a far more refined car and the advanced technology is far superior to the 2014 model it replaced.
Extremely happy with the V6 and 6 speed combo, I personally won't go back to the 2.4 again in an Accord and the fuel economy is similar in any case.
Android Auto working seamlessly and voice recognition works nearly every time.
After also owning an Accord Euro, both of my Accords finishings have been a little disappointing by comparison, the lack ...Read more

Great Car
The Honda Accord is a great, reliable, quiet and fuel efficient car. I have always owned six cylinder vehicles prior to the purchase of my Honda, but I have not been disappointed. It has more than enough power to safely overtake on the open road. It has plenty of room, with great leg room in the rear. Boot space is excellent.

My fourth Honda
Love everything about my Accord. In particular the Melbourne, Astoria dealership. Tried to buy one in Geelong but they could not even organize a test drive for 4 weeks. Will always buy in Melbourne even living the other side of Geelong. The car is all luxury compared to many other much more expensive brands.

Decent car
Have had the car for 9 yrs and having done almost 180,000 km now. Drove the car mostly between home and office in metro Melbourne with occasional long trips within and inter states. The car seems to be well built with no major mechanical problems aside from usual wear and tear. The body paint seems to scratch easily. Aircon still strong. Still rides well. Slightly more expensive to service. Overall it is a decent car for this class of Japanese though Thai built car.

Honest and Brutal review
1) Firstly this car is in the league of Camry, Maxima, Mazda 6 and not the Caprice, Falcon or Commodore.
2) Cabin noise is loud (louder than a Camry)
3) Suspension is stiff and you get a feeling that even small and cheap used cars have soft suspension setup why Honda did this to us!
4) Car is heavy for a 4 cylinder to push. You want push down that peddle? Buy something else.
5) Leather is thin and not heavy duty like one used in Falcons. Therefore It will need love and care.
6) Fuel is 700kms from a 70lt tank on average.
7) Trunk garnis...Read more

My Experience with Honda.
I was suitably impressed with the Honda Accuracy in their Engineering in 1967.(Working as a Mechanic)
I have since owned about 35 Honda's.
1/ Performance has always good handling whilst not as good as some European cars is satisfactory.
Road noise is enhanced by chunky tread tyres and alloy wheels. High profile tyres and soft tread fine pattern tyres make for a more quiet ride. Australian course grain bitumen roads don't help with road noise.
2/ All of my Accords have Leather Interior and I use a suitable leather treat at least once a year and have only a had a few areas of concern.(scuffing)
3/ Economy is great and all of the cars have been extremely reliable. No major parts have had to be replaced.

best car I have driven so far
I bought a used Accord in 2012, accord V6 luxury -2008. This is probably the best car I have ever owned so far. I had a Lexus-is250 before which was good too, but this accord is much more luxurious. Didn’t have any issue as yet is last 4 years.
This may look like an old man’s car but don’t be fooled, it got more than enough kick. Fuel economy is great too, city freeway combined is 10.4L/100

maybe ok when new
Acquired V6 MY2005 with ~65k km in 2012.
Negatives: In ~25k km of ownership replaced (these problems developed during the ownership period): 2 x lock door actuators (from eBay), complete fuel supply unit (2nd hand from wreckers for $150 AUD vs. $600 new).
Repaired broken boot release cable using $10 AUD extra-strength tape adhesive (garage quoted $750 AUD for complete replacement).
Ignition lock locked ignition keys twice (self-released after several movements from P to D, N and back to P).

Cant fault it
Bought this vehicle new, and 8 years later still very impressed. Plenty of power, smooth ride, handles well, very safe with heaps of airbags (although on recall like many other brand cars). Apart from servicing and the usual things like brakes and batteries, has only been in the workshop once. Servicing at Honda dealerships is expensive and this is why I haven't had a full service for years - simply change oil and fluids etc myself.

Great Family Car
2012 2.4L Limited Edition, $34190. Had mud flaps and door protectors added.
It replaced our aging 1998 TE Magna V6, an extremely reliable car.
The reasons why we got it - excellent rear passenger room (2 tall teenagers), sheer luxury to drive, good price, very safe.
Up until 5,000 mms had a flat spot when taking off, but came good. Had bad rattles in the back, but after a while they also went after warranty work from dealer, caused by vibration from the transmission.
Very good at climbing hills and going down, handling was unbelievable, wou...Read more

Hi, Does V6L series 2 2016 model, drives differently or awful lot refined compared to the previous 2015 one?
1 answer
Sorry, I can’t answer that as this was my first Honda, so don’t know what previous models were like. I can say that I am still driving it 10 years later and it’s never missed a beat - and that includes driving Melbourne to Perth return. Still love it as it may well be the most reliable car I have ever owned and extremely comfortable for long trips. Hope this helps. I should add that mine is a Euro and not a 6 cylinder so maybe not the model you asked about anyway! Lol....

What fuel consumption should be expected in metropolitan usage?
4 answers
G’Day Paul,
Bit late, but I kept a spreadsheet. Best I got was 6.98L per 100kms, worst 13L around town. (Albury). Speeding up to 110kms then diving off the access ramps doesn’t help the fuel economy that much.
Overall average was 10.34 on ULP 91 and 9.71 on ULP 95. (2012 2.4L Limited Edition)
Hi i have a 2009 2.4 Vti-L s. I get 800kms driving is from Epping to Mulgrave everyday inuding trips to shopping centers and kfcs.
