One of the best buys you can make.
I purchase this mower, Buffalo Buck, back in February 2005 and it was the best thing I did.
It is unstoppable, unless it runs out of fuel, just kidding.
What I meant is that if you take care of this machine, it will last you a long time.
I recently found myself inside a Honda Power Equipment store and the lady behind the counter commented that once the Honda mowers are purchased they hardly see them again and I can see why.
They are well built and easy to service and maintain.
I try to wash mine after each mow and run the engine a little t...Read more

10 years old this year! Still going strong.
Mower has been great, starts pretty much first go every time as long as fuel tap was shut off previous mow and allowed to stop by running out of fuel. This prevents the old fuel sitting in carburettor fuel bowl and going off, it is not so bad sitting in the fuel tank as the fuel volume is larger.
Have put 1 new spark plug in it in 10 years, changed oil every 6 months or so. It does like clean air so regular air filter cleans and replacements are necessary which obviously depend on the environment you mow in. You can tell when air filter is dir...Read more

Reasonably Pleased
After just buying our first house, I was keen to purchase my first mower and start cutting the lawns myself. Had read a number of reviews, and after talking to a few people realised that getting a Honda was the best option. Our lawn isn't large, but it has been there 20-25 years so is quite thick and tuff.
Not wanting to spend a fortune, went for the HRU19R1K which is the lower end of their range but more than suitable. 1st mow and I have some criticism;
Good points -
*Easy Start, first pull
*Not overly loud
*Cuts well, motor speeds up through heavier grass
Bad points - ...Read more
*Heavier than I expected, for a 19" I thought i would be easier to push around *Catcher has a small-ish volume, didn't take long to fill up *Small chute, doesn't clear out very well if fill. Even if catcher has been emptied. Overall for the money 8.5/10 - What bad points it has, make up in good points and in 15-20 years when it's still starting first pull, I'll have overlooked the bad points and moved on.1 comment

Good
my grandfather contracted with the same honder hru194 that i now use for 17 years. when he up graded to a hru19r1 he had problems with oil leaks out of the governor vain linkage and sump gasket. when he returned it for service he was told that it was nothing to worry about and to continue using it. after 10 hours of use it leaked 1/2 of its total oil capacity in one week of sitting unused, so he demanded that it was fixed. it was repaired under warranty. since then he hasn’t had any major problems accept for a occasional air filter. and yes my Honda is still going strong after 21 years of service.
easy starting, easy to maintain, good solid construction
air filter gets bloked easily, service and parts is very costly

I am not sure but try all positions. Pull the full line off to see if it is blocked. If not see your Honda dealer
Facing up if off. Facing left is on.

Hi there,
When checking the oil on a Honda HRU19R do you screw the dipstick all the way home to get a measurement or do you just insert it to the start of the threaded part?
Thanks
Andrew
