Good at just about everything.
Purchased NEW, the last intake of the June 2012 CRV. Base model. White, Auto, 4WD, 17" Mags, Bluetooth and Reversing sensors. Typical Honda. Bullet proof if you service by the book. The only issue was a rattle/buzzing from the Bluetooth on coarse bitumen. Replaced under warranty. Currently has 53500km and the Michelin tires look good for another 10k? Paint is very thick and has only scored 1 door nick in a park. No dent. Touched up with some Honda Bike paint and hard to find now. ( Previous Accord Euro had metallic paint which I would not recom...Read more
mend as the paint was very thin). Fuel averages around 9.3l/100km combined. This is our 4th Honda interspersed by BMW 323i, Alfa (2), SAAB 9-3, Peugeot 405,306, and the Honda's have all been the cheapest and most reliable to own. My intention was to trade the CRV at 2 years old but we still have it. Might be a long term affair and purchase an older model weekend toy euro. Update 5/8/16. We still have the CRV! Took the Michelin tyres off at 62,000km and they were still legal. Fitted Sumitomo guaranteed for 60.000 if rotated every 7,000 by agent. CRV still averages 9.3km/100 with regular trips onto the highway. Showing 73,654km and running like a clock. I did purchase a weekend car 12 months ago. 2009 Volvo C30 T5 R Design. Great car but the servicing costs are up there. Just had a service this week. Oil (full synthetic) and filter, 5 plugs (@ $38 ea), air filter, rear brake shoes and flush brake system. Total $1,042. That was on top of two new tyres for $500. Wife was very impressed..not! Makes the service costs on the Honda look very reasonable.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
CRV 2009 hard on steering and pulls to one side.
I love the car, beautiful smooth ride on an open road, I service ir regularly, no problems mechanically or electrically, but the car pulls to the left, and the steering is tight, complained to the dealer, they did a through check, test came up fine, wheel alignments did some good but it lasted for a time and then back the pulling. I have Michelin Tyres as well and suspect that it could be the issue, good Tyres but tends to grip the road. I've done some research and am considering changing to Bridgestone Dueller highway, this has been recommended by beaurepairs in WA after speaking to a helpful salesman.

Honda CRV Aircon (AC) Issues
3 weeks ago the air-conditioning of our Honda CRV failed again (a couple of months before a faulty relay caused the battery to run out). This time the compressor had to be replaced and I was quoted $2,000! Luckily I found information on the internet confirming this is a regular, serious issue for Honda CRVs. I did tell the dealer this would be my last Honda if Honda did not recognise the hardware issue that has been troubling their customers for years and got confirmation Honda would show some 'goodwill' and take 75% of the cost for their accou...Read more
nt. Still not happy that I had to pay $500 for a production issue so this will be the last Honda I bought as a matter of principle. It's a shame as otherwise I am very happy with my 2nd Honda CRV and the dealership has been providing excellent service. This is how Honda loses loyal customers by not recognising and accepting total responsibility for production issues like other manufacturers do but only showing 'goodwill' to those customers who dare to make a case. No marketing campaign will fix that lack of customer respect.1 comment

5 Stars for the Car. None for the Dealer.
Absolutely a fabulous vehicle. However, when I purchased the car new in July 2011 The paper work listed it as a 2011 model. Some months later I found out it was manufactured in October 2010. When I contacted Southern Highlands Honda in Moss Vale, and complained, they denied that I was told it was manufactured in 2011. I will certainly purchase another Honda but it wont be from these people.
Excellent vehicle and great handling with plenty of power.

CRV 2008
5 yrs old CRV just had the aircon compressor fail. Honda priced it at $2600 to replace. Went to RAC they said simillar figure and lady said this is the 4th CRV this week to come in with the same problem. I live in Perth.
I am looking for someone who may have same issue to share experience. $2600 is rubbish. The compressor is $300-$400. Future Honda buyers be very careful.

I had the same issue, got the same sort of quote and then found out that Honda have a broadcast (not recall) out on this failure. One dealer would not acknowledge this but another did and repaired free of charge.
This problem must be longstanding. We have a lovely 2002 Honda crv sports that has had this happen twice!! First time repaired $2000, second time - did not get it fixed as too expensive! again and on... Read more
ly lasted 2 years anyhow (but not fixed via Honda as the local guys said it has never happened and they couldn't fix it.) I live in Maryborough Qld! The motor has to be lifted out and air con and compressor replaced as its in an awkward position apparently and this is why so expensive. However the car itself goes like a dream and now on 208,000. Its very dissapointing but we just have to live with no air con as car goes ok. We travel a lot and now only go in the cooler months.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Update, sold the car on 185,000 kms not a problem apart from the aircon compressor being replaced 3 times.... Twice by Honda for free

We bought standard model CRV 2008 automatic,it has 78.000km. The boot is very roomy even for our large baby pram still some room left for other staff. Seats very comft. even on citi short trips. Standard model is very good still full electric and ice aricon. Economy with aircon "on" in town is from 10.5l per 100km up to 11.5l per 100km.

OK
A good general purpose fuss free car. Not 1 issue after 20,000kms - typical Honda reliability. A bit thirsty but fuel cost is not the biggest cost driver of a car.
Flexible internal arrangement.
Fuss free. Does everything well, nothing bad but nothing really good. Not slow, not fast, not bad on fuel, not good, not huge for space, not small. A very functional, fuss free car.
Fuel consumption can be high - around town (typically 12 to 14 l / 100km, best ever on highway was 7.0 l / 100 km). A 4 cylinder but not that thrifty - others in this s...Read more

Terrible
Will be so pleased when lease runs out, will not get another Honda CR-V. Very disappointed. A real has-been concept. Give it a decent burial, Honda. Definitely not value for money anymore.
Not much really, reliable but dull. Handling is quite good, this may be only real plus for this vehicle. Otherwise a very stodgy drive.
Fuel tank is way too small, fuel consumption too high, gutless performance. I have Luxury model but where is the luxury apart from one powered seat? EG no lamp in glovebox, no lamps in visors or doors, Honda have cut too many...Read more

Solid small family SUV
2008 CRV, Special edition, automatic, black
Very happy with this car so far.
Would absolutely recommend for small family.
Good handling, large and easy to load boot space.
Relative good fuel consumption.
Would not recommend car for towing other than small light trailers.
Inside: Well build, practicable and lots of room even compared to bigger SUV's. Black cloth interior fine. Back row seats high (easy to handle children in baby seats). Good visibility to outside. Outside: Well build. Reverse parking sensors very handy and sensitive. Motor...Read more

The best car ever!
Our 2011 Honda CRV Ltd Edn is the best car I've ever had. We upgraded from our Renault Scenic as our family was growing and we needed more boot space. After test driving other similar cars on the market (Kia Sportage, mazda CX7, Hyundai ix35 and Santa Fe) We decided on the Honda CRV Manual. It had the largest booty space and we also got the pet and luggage barrier installed to maximise the space. It has great highway mileage and is smooth and comfortable to drive. I love it!
fuel efficient, roomy, large boot

Excellent
I bought the Sport version back in September 2007 and I have been very happy with it. We have two growing boys and there is plenty of room in the back for long legs (and plenty of room between them to keep them apart!). I still haven't got the dimensions 100% when I am parking it but then I'm a girl (!) and have never been completely confident with the length of cars! The full economy seems to be pretty good - when I am traveling on country roads I get less than 9L per 100kms but when I am just running around the suburbs taking the kids to and...Read more
from sports/school etc it tends to be around 10.5L per 100km. The last two tank full I have only had an economy of about 11-11.5 per 100kms but that may be because it has been really hot and the air-cond. has been flat out constantly for the past couple of weeks. The ivory interior doesn't get too hot but it does show the marks. I have put some polar-fleece rugs on the seats to prevent too much dirt.... I haven't really taken it off road yet so I'm not sure how it goes there. The closest we have come is on dirt roads (fairly good condition ones) and the four-wheel drive cut in when needed. I would certainly recommend this car for families or just for around town. Really comfortable ride, great looks and plenty of room in the back Nothing yet!Similar opinion? Do not buy a honda bad experince for me and my family . If you realy like the car stick to the auto maybe.
I love the look of the crv the handling is all good. We bought the crv 07 manual for saftey and relibilty, as we started a new family.
Where do i start after 24 months with only 30.000 km on it the gear box strated to get noisy ticking noise, chutering like, when i put the clutch in noise would go away. Not as great as expected
My mum bought the 2011 Honda CRV for $32,000. At first the whole family was very excited to have a ride having heard all the hype about the car, but soon realised the taxing effect of petrol cost it had at about $60-$70 a week. Although the car is very roomy and has a luxurious feel, especially with the raised seating, icy air-con and boot space, I still have my doubts. The body roll around corners is terrifying, even gentle turns at a low speed. Visibility isn't great either, with the D pillar half obcuring the blind spot. We don't drive it ar...Read more
ound much - mainly to go grocery shopping or to pick up the kids from school, which doesn't cover much distance but still the dastardly thing manages to use up more than the expected 10L/10km. More like 11.5-12. As a P-Plater I absolutely do not recommend this car to anyone who is looking for a fuel efficient family car, but if you have some (or a lot) of spare money lying around, here's your little piece of luxury. Smooth ride, quiet, reliable, Fuel guzzler, horrible visibility especially out the blind spot, 'gentle' engine5 comments
If you wanted fuel efficiency, why were you looking at this model? You want diesel or a wagon my friend!
Is your car a manual or automatic?
Automatics nowadays have better fuel economy than manual trannys

Good
I've owned Hondas in the past,as do our kids now. The CRV needs hybrid engines, better options and better Australian tuned suspension but it remains popular with many older SUV purchasers. A quality buy but getting long in the tooth (should have Bluetooth) and now too expensive for the growing Korean competition.
This is a solid, well made vehicle (Thai built I think), We liked the lovely light interior, we have the sunroof model, and its very roomy and comfortable for rear passengers. The MP3 stereo is better than average, despite the opinion ...Read more

I'm not sure I'm talking about the same car as other people are... after driving an AWD Subaru Liberty which sticks to the road like glue this car is a bit of a disappointment - top-heavy, not great handling, mirrors and lack of visual clues makes it hard to judge distances for parking, although good size inside and good boot space. Prefer driving a Toyota RAV4 to this.
Good size inside, comfortable. Looks smart - impresses other people!
Handling not great - feels a bit top-heavy especially compared to Toyota RAV4. Hate the lack of visual clues...Read more

Great car, due for a new one but going to keep it
I have really loved my CRV. We had planned on trading it in after 3 years but I haven't found another car I like as much such as the Mazda 7 (gas guzzler) or Holden Captiva (very similar to CRV). My only gripe is the A pillar blocks some of my view while taking a right bend, I find I have to lean forward or look at the road through the window - but that could be my size and maybe I need to adjust my seat? I have leather seats (wouldn't have cloth ever again) and heating in the front seats, so nice on these cold mornings.
Runs smoothly, relatively fuel efficient, never had a problem in 4 years.

Nice car to drive and very versatile. Very safe for children and passengers. I think that for the price this is a very good car to buy. If I was looking an SUV in this price range I would definitely buy the CR-V
Good styling, Great interior, rear shelf is handy. Rear seats slide forwards to be closer to the front of the car, this makes it good for small children and it also makes it safer for the kids.
Not many options and tiny 4 cylinder engine needs to be axed and replaced with a turbo diesel or an inline 6.

We’re really happy with it so far, no reliability problems and it does exactly what we need it to do at this stage in our lives in terms of practicality and convenience. Yeah it doesn’t have sport-car performance and handling, but if you’re after that then buy a sports car, the CR-V is a versatile small family hauler, not an excitement machine.
The CR-V has a quality feel about it, it just feels well built. We bought the luxury version and have been really impressed by the fit and finish inside. Size-wise, it is also perfect for our small fam...Read more

In follow up of my review, true to my word, I bought a Toyota in May 2015. Just to show that Honda is really losing customers by behaving this way.
