Excellent vehicle let down by a cheap/terrible Audio/GPS touchscreen unit
Have owned our base model 2022 HR-V for almost a year now, as expected the car generally is of reasonably high standard with good quality exterior fixtures and a generous interior, the car is reliable and drives smoothly, we haven't been troubled by road noise and the economy is pretty good, although all let down by an absolute rubbish GPS and audio system, so can repeat all the same complaints as previous reviewers. The touch screen is so laggy that it actively discourages normal use and the GPS interface is an absolute joke. My base model 201...Read more
7 HiLux work ute has a far superior touchscreen audio/GPS system. The electronic HVAC controls also defy all known ergonomic conventions, and are borderline dangerous, why car manufacturers can't get the basics of normal rotary knob HVAC controls right in this day and age is puzzling, and Google Maps is a superior navigation system to anything else in the world, so why bother with buggy expensive systems that don't perform as well? You don't buy this car for the excitement or the driving experience, you buy it for the build quality and good interior design, seating and use of space but the poor attention to driving ergonomics and the tragic touchscreen installation detracts from the entire car. If you are shopping for a car like this have a look at every other Honda, and the competitors from Toyota, Mitsubishi, Hyundai, Kia and Suzuki and look at their execution of touch screen GPS units before making a decision. Sure they all have their own issues, and aren't perfect, but I defy you to find a more obvious single glaring fault in their cars than what Honda have installed in the center of the dash of the current HR-V.Purchased in July 2021.

Good car overall, but letdown by Infotainment system and front road noise
We have a 2018 model and the Audio/GPS system is utter rubbish, it cant be read in certain daylight conditions the glare from sunlight makes it unreadable. Then there is the hit and miss Bluetooth connection the background echo for the receiver is bad, the touch screen lag is so annoying and of course the GPS requires every detail input to even consider navigating you. The heater/fan controls are dangerous to use whilst driving you have to take you eyes off the road to look at what you are pressing, very bad design. Then there is the other iss...Read more
ue of random radio stations drop out of the settings. Honda dealer said nothing they can do even after a software update, it is still the worst Infotainment system available in a mainstream car on the market. Overall the car is, drives well, fuel economy is exceptional, comfort and practicality for everyday use is fantastic. But please Honda get a better Info system.

Honda does it again!
My Honda is used privately each day. The 6.9 l/100km economy is excellent, road handling and acceleration commendable and Honda comfort excels. A tall person’s roomy vehicle - I am rapt!

Nice car to drive but disappointing audio/nav device
I collected my brand new Honda HRV a week before Xmas 2018, so it's still very new. I drive my car on a daily basis commuting to work and for general 'running around' and I've been really happy with the way it drives. So far the air conditioner has been good and I've found the petrol consumption for city driving, very economical.
What has been really disappointing about this car is the audio/navigation system and this is why I believe the car only deserves 3 stars, as I consider the audio/nav system an important feature.
1) The angle of the ...Read more

Air con not working after 2 years
Have had this car for just 2 years and barely done 10 000 k`s. The air con is no longer working properly. Just drove for 30 minutes and only managed a cool breeze with fan on high. This is most annoying considering I traded my last Honda CRV after 7 years because the air was also not working, and going to cost over $2000 to fix. I now have a weeks wait for a service, no replacement car available, and the inconvenience of taking the car in for a service for a whole day to assess the problem. Hope this is fixed under warranty. Grrrrr.
Have been loyal to Honda over the years but not impressed with this issue.
Otherwise the car is ok.

Car is fine, hand's free phone abysmal and something dodgy about Honda culture
I have a 2017 HR-V, purchased Jan 18, after previously owning a Mazda CX5 diesel. The car is fine, economy as stated on the label, spacious and reliable. My two complaints are first, the hand's free phone is dreadful. There seems to be a single microphone which is on the navigation system, so if I'm driving fast (road noise) or have the aircon on - no-one can hear me. I drive 500-1000km per week, so it is really important for me to have a decent hand's free phone. Honda tried to fix it once, but it made no difference.
My second big concern ...Read more
is about the culture of Honda in Australia (compared say to Mazda, and also a previous Toyota). After every contact I have had with Honda (at two different outlets in two states), the representatives have told me that I will be contacted by a customer survey team, and that "anything less than 5 star feedback" will be considered a fail. The most recent chap (after a service) said " and I have your address". Seriously?? What kind of bullying culture is that... and how reliable are their results. Frankly, their service is dreadful - perhaps that's why... It will be Mazda for me again next, based on service and customer respect alone.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Best car yet!
My HR-V is perfect - enough room to fit 3 men in the back and still breathe. Drives like a dream and great fuel economy! So glad I chose the HR-V, fits everything I need for work and the fur kids too! No probl ma and the Honda team all know what they are doing and give the advice needed at the drop of a hat!

Groovy SUV
I brought my HRV new in 2016 and I still love driving it. I have never had a single problem, it is smooth, quiet and has the features I wanted. The seating arrangements and transport capabilities of items of varying sizes are super useful. It is the bottom of the range version but I'm happy :-)

Love my 2017 HRV
When I bought my VTi I didn’t want all the features that came with the VTi-L but added those I did want, leather interior (was able to choose the light colour to match the ceiling), window weather trims, floor mats ( should come with them I think!) a tow bar, reverse sensors and tinted windows. Absolutely love it, the cabin space roomy, the back seat configuration options very useful, it handles very well and is very manoeuvrable.
My only negatives are the navigation system would be better - if you could plug in google maps via a mobile phone ...Read more

Fantastic car
Absolutely love this car, really enjoy driving it. Of all the small SUVs, HR-V had the most leg room, boot space, seating and very versatile with the seat movements. Love the handbrake button and the brake hold function - gives me a piece of mind when I have to stop at steep hills. Due to its 1.8 L size engine, it was very fuel efficient too (average 6.9L/100km). Only improvement I would make is the ability for the radio to display the song played, but that is a minor minor issue. Love this car and would definitely recommend!

Love my HaRVey
Took delivery december 2017. Still love it. Chose the hrv as it had the biggest boot space out of the cars I looked at, most leg and head room in the back seat and these were important as I have growing children. My 18 year old nephew who is 6 foot came with me on delivery, sat in the back and said "it's got more room back here than mums asx (purchased Sept 17).
Fuel economy is great, I get about 720kms per tank (49 litres) which is about 6.8l/100km, mix of city and country driving.
While seats have no adjustable lumbar support, they a...Read more
re comfortable. I have Bad back and in precious cars even driving 100km has aggravated it. Over January, I packed up my kids (8 and 10) and my 70+ year old mother and we travelled from geelong to Coonabarabran in 40+ heat. We needed 10 days worth of supplies and it held it all and us comfortably and not once did my back hurt, not even a twinge. Air conditioning worked brilliantly. The build of mine is October 17 so has no CD player, which at times I miss. Replacing CD is android and apple connectivity and usb facilities. I don't use apple at all so can't comment. Have used android phone through Bluetooth a few times, but I don't really drive and talk on phone often. Few times I've done it, call quality decent, would be nice if you could activate it using voice (perhaps you can and I just don't know). GPS can be slow to start. Honda dealer was great, not pushy. Service centre seem good although have only had the complimentary service so far. The one thing that really annoys me, I chose the morpho blue, and my last car was blue and I didn't have the problem, you MUST chamois after washing or else the paint dries with dirty spots and the smallest amount of dirt stands out.Similar opinion? Good car, bad after-sales support from Rolfe Honda
I bought the HR-V for $25,000 driveaway with floor mats, a full tank of fuel, Honda's 7 year warranty and free 7 year premium roadside assist.
First, the positives: My old car was a Hyundai i20 3 door 1.4 litre manual, so I am loving the increased space. It has a 1.8litre which is the same as the Toyota Corolla; this does enhance fuel efficiency as compared to other SUVs, so that's a plus point. Finally, Honda is built well so this car will last 15 years easily with proper servicing (in terms of reliability, the order goes as follows: Toyota, ...Read more
Honda then Suzuki). The traditional aspirated petrol engine is old school technology but reliable. However there are negatives: This car uses a CVT transmission which is expensive to maintain and unreliable compared to a traditional automatic. The car was built in Thailand so quality of construction is not as good as a car built in Japan. Plus, there's a lack of advanced safety features. The main reasons for giving a 3 star review are as follows: 1. There are better SUVs available on the market. Although the car beats the Mitsubishi ASX in practicality it can't stack up against options like the Toyota RAV4. 2. At some stage, you are guaranteed to get bad service from both Honda national head office and the individual dealers. Judging by their inability to deliver my vehicle on time when I bought it, if you ever have to claim on the 7 year warranty it may be a fight (yet I never had any such issues with Hyundai) 3. Honda is involved in the global Takata air-bag recall which shows incompetence Nothing wrong with the HR-V, but nothing exceptional either!Purchased in March 2021 at Honda Dealers for $25,000.00.

Extremely Satisfied
The driving experience of this car was very comfortable and smooth. The purchase of this car was a noticeable upgrade from the previous car. Reverse camera feature for parking is fantastic, with no errors occurring. All in all, would recommend to all families out there as it is very versatile.

Almost perfect!
I bought my 2017 honda hrv 8 months ago and basically love the car. Even though it is a smaller size car, it is very roomy inside with very handy back seat configurations. It sits on 7litre per hundred fuel economy, unless I drive long distances then it's sits around 6.8. I've never struggled up hills and has a lot of power for the motor size. Comfortable seats and even though the black interior shows the dirt easily, it is also easy to clean with a warm damp cloth. Love the centre cup holders, they can be arranged to put tall or short bottle...Read more
s or cups in them. My negatives are the road noise, it's quite loud (don't know if different tyres would help). The air conditioner takes much longer to cool the car than other cars I've driven. The boot cover would be way better if it was retractable (as I've had in previous cars) instead of one that slides in. Dispite the negatives I would definitely buy another hrv.Similar opinion? Fantastic Car and great for learner drivers!
Purchased this car when trading in my old one and it is a serious upgrade! It has incredibly smooth driving and a good amount of in-car gadgets. (Not too many to distract p-platers or learners!) One fault for this car would be that the in-car GPS takes ages to configurate and often, on the road, will lose your route to configurate! The audio in the car is great with usb, aux and hdmi ports. It is decently fuel efficient and there is plenty of leg room, even in the back! Overall this is a greate sized car, easy to park and drive.

Ok car for the price, could be better
Small SUV, biggish back seat but boot space it tiny, but has magic seats. Driving is smooth, with great turning circle. Rear camera is good tho I don't like using it. Navigation system freezes sometimes especially if you are changing between audio modes - radio to bluetooth to aux. AC is good, nice airflow. Works well in 35+ degree days in perth. unsure about heater setting.
Overall it is just an ok car.

Honda Reliability
Great value SUV. Best head room in back seat. Love the “magic seats” which fold up to give amazing and easily accessible space. Have recently driven to Sydney and had an excellent, comfortable trip. Very classy looking- even has a hidden backdoor handle. Handles very well- cruise control easy to use. Highly recommend.

Bad satellite navigation system n car audio system
Got a bad experience with the sat Nav and sound system ofHonda Hrv 2017 base model
Bought the new model in July 2017 as my work car which I drive about 10-12 hours a day
The navigation screen firstly disappears when you make a call using Bluetooth leaving you no idea about the directions as you can see only the caller details n if you want to see the sat Nav you have to disconnect the Bluetooth else the sat Nav will not be displayed
The sat Nav doesn't give real time to destination as it just calculates 1km per 1min no matter what roads yo...Read more
