Short butt
I wanted to put one of these on the road cause i'm a 5 foot 6 short butt smidget. But when i rode it thinking it was a mini XR I realised I was a full tosser - it's crap - it's overpriced and won't road fast enough. Another over wrapped nostalgic offshoot of a past successful model - same crap - different wrapper - disappointing

A totally inexperienced review
I bought this as a learner bike for a very hilly hobby farm. Neither I or my family (wife and two teenage boys) had any experience with bikes, but we wanted something to be able to get around the farm and a quad bike just didn't seem safe given the hilly terrain and lack of established tracks. I read lots of reviews here and on other sites and also looked at the popularity. The Honda XR 190CT was the most popular agricultural bike which in the end tipped it over the Yamaha AG200 which was a close second (OK, the look of the Honda may have al...Read more
so had an impact when compared to the Yamaha). I also considered Kawasaki Stockman and Suzuki Trojan. I felt that the Honda ended up being better priced and covered all the things that we were looking for. In practice there was a bit of a learning curve. We have all dropped the bike or run into things, some more than others. One slight negative is that the bike is a bit heavy and my wife has had some problems picking it up by herself. Only one real accident, where my youngest ran into a gate and bent a few things, which we were able to roughly fix, but might need some replacements on the first service. I couldn't say that we would have had it easier with any other bike, but we have now done about 180km across the 4 of us and a couple of friends and it is a real joy. We are now all reasonably comfortable and able to get around the farm. It has really opened things up. Walks that would have taken 15 minutes are just now a short circuit on the bike. I'm really happy at how quiet the bike is. You can hardly hear it at our slow speeds around the farm. We have been able to sneak up on wombats. Unfortunately that is also, for us, one of the biggest issues. We keep shooting past snakes! They don't hear it and don't get out of the way in the way they would if you were walking around the tracks. We have red belly blacks and copperheads, and we have seen a lot more than ever before since we started riding the bike around. To the point now that I'm having to mow some tracks so that we can see them. We have had one incident where a snake has been run over. No strikes yet. The bike has been able to handle mud, wet grass, slippery bark and hills without any issues, just user issues from inexperience I think. Having the bike has been great for the farm as it also gives the teenage boys something exciting to do that isn't internet related. I might even consider getting another one at some stage, as it would be great if two of us were able to go around together.Purchased in January 2021 at Miles Honda, Warragul for A$4,800.00.

Not as good as previous ctx ag bike
I have owned the XR 190 for 2 years now . The front suspension is shot . So hitting a pot hole or rock in the paddock nearly throws you off, the stand seams to high and the bike is always falling over on the slightest of hill. And the engine stalls easy as there isnt enough torque only when taking off in a higher gear . Told these bike are made in China, makes sense. I would rather ride my CTX 200 with a carby

Not fit for purpose
At 3500ks it melted a piston. I was travelling from one town to another at 80ks when it must have overheated .Honda would not pay for repairs .said it was a farm bike and not meant for the road. It's sold as a road trail bike .very cheaply made ..no good. As dirt bike either ..don't buy one

It's a short range commuter
It's a difficult bike to ride at slow speed especially in steep hill conditions no torque gravel roads doesn't have nice manners my road bike could match it open road 80klms feels the bike is being thrashed throttle to snappy would hate to chase cows in muddy conditions has a relaxed riding position like the carriers very good price so expectation should according

Not fit for purpose
The bike itself in any form is not fit for the purpose it is proposed for according to the website. The engine is a road bike style engine with fuel injection (a screamer engine) with very little torque, it has a very touchy throttle down low (this is the biggest problem with the bike and Honda say it is fine but have they tested it under tough farming conditions?) which makes it near impossible to ride for rounding up livestock at low speed. The gearing is more suited to round the city type riding and when the going gets tough under tough farm...Read more
conditions it struggles, the gear ratios are not suitable for hilly type terrain of farm work without extensive modification. The bike from the swing arm back has a prehistoric look and feel about it, the rear brake is very poor in effect. I have been riding trail bikes for forty odd years and owned a great variety of them from fifty dollar old machines to this the second brand new bike I have ever owned. This Honda AG-XR 190 is the hardest bike I have ever ridden and the greatest disappointment I have had the pleasure of owning. Honda really need to think about this product sure yes it is able to be registered for road use and that is the only good thing about it.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

I am also considering the Honda XR190l AG, however, David S reports:
"The engine is a road bike style engine with fuel injection (a screamer engine) with very little torque, it has a very touchy throttle down low (this is the biggest problem with the bike and Honda say it is fine but have they tested it under tough farming conditions?) which makes it near impossible to ride for rounding up livestock at low speed" He also states that the bike is near to useless i hilly country due to city biased gearing? .....
Has Honda addressed the above issues in the 2022 model or the 2020 release?
I look forward to your reply.

Not to my knowledge, they did not feel the motorcycle had any issue it was considered normal operation, depending on your application you may want to either ride the unit first or consider alternatives
Than you David for the quick reply. I'll take your wise advice.
I will now investigate more options.
Thank you again and I hope you can resolve your issues ind regards Barry M.
In New Zealand they sell this bike from the dealer with a JT 12 / 55 gearing kit and nice DID o ring chain. Farmers are loving it. Not the rediculous 15 / 52 that you get here. I got quoted $166 delivered to Australia. Honda Australia knew nothing of this kit.
