Great solid mower
Used on steep inclines and over large debris for 7 years. Only issue was air locking of petrol tank. Clutch now needs service. Great machine to mow regular and irregular areas.
Purchased in January 2021 for A$4,200.00.

Nice engine, nice plastic body shell, worse than 1980 models
I bought my TS 238 in 2018, it was 1.5 years old and had about 90 hours on the clock. I was nice to drive, very manoeuvrable and cut neatly on flat lawn. My kids like driving it and mowing. But in the springtime when the grass was lush and about 100mm high, it would clog up the grass delivery shoot to the catcher. It it is a long plastic curving tube that delivers cut grass to the rear catcher. It is no bigger than the rear grass shoot on my 4.5 hp walk behind mower, so that is the first design flaw. I catches at the lower edge where it is mov...Read more
ing from the mower deck up into the delivery tube. Our property is completely flat, and during spring has thick lush grass. At a 100 hours, it broke the drive belt for the mower deck, and in replacing it I found that 6 of the 8 bearing on the deck were worn, rusty and had almost no grease. These are the bearings for the two short blade drive shafts, and the bearings in the tensioner/change of direction belt gearbox. Not impressed about that. The Husqvarna dealer noticed that the belt pulleys mounted on the tensioner bracket were askew, not aligned, out of allignment about 20 degrees, seemed to be due to the weak bracket they were mounted on. Bent it back into place Soon after repair it broke the propulsion drive belt. Then at 150 hours it broke the mower deck belt broke again, this time the previous bracket had bent/twisted again so two pulleys were askew, and as well, the back idler pulley right up by the engine drive pulley, was also misalligned, and a full 15 mm too low for the belt coming off the heavy main drive pulley. It took a day to modify both faults. The bracket was strengthened with long weld beads. The back idler bracket had to be modied to sit up higher and have two bolts clamping it, not just the factory one. All this was done in consultation with the dealer who was very helpful. Next the tensioner spring broke, the belt jumped off got caught and nearly burnt out a third mower deck drive pulley at about 160 hours use. These faults may be corrected but I think the design engineering in these mowers is very poor. My advice is to check pulley alignments, and belts to preempt belt wear from this possible fault. I would now recommend that the plastic guards be removed on the two outsides of the mower deck. it is better to be able to see what is happening down there, and to clear grass and rubbish that accumulates very quickly in the recess above the blade. I B&D engine is a very good unit, just changed the oils and filters and works faultlessly

Worth moving to the country.
My TS246 was purchased late in 2016 just after we moved from the city to a 2 acre block at Clare in rural SA. The only level part of the block has the house on it; the rest is up and down with a gulley running through. The front half of the block is grassed with the back is quite rough, with patches which are too rough to mow. There are a fair number of sticks and stones.
Having a dog means that just about anywhere there are sticks and other rubbish hidden in the grass.
Boggy conditions mean traction can be lost if the cutters are too low.

Don't touch these
Quick release system is useless, very easily damaged, mine has been ripped off twice and spindle has been damaged
Always having problems starting it....
To much of a pain in the head.... absolute junk and thats all after only 3 years old with 65 hours on the clock
Husqvarna should be charged by Consumer Affairs for selling these as mowers.
Purchased in November 2021 for A$3,000.00.

Yep, never again.
I've had my ts242 for a couple of years now, only about 60hrs on the clock. Always seems to have something going wrong with it. My acre block is not the easiest to mow, but today I hit a small clump of dirt and broke the alloy belt housing that attaches to the mowing deck. This is the THIRD TIME. It just has no strength. Also, the blade indicator light keeps coming on and also not engaging when I can't see anything wrong with it. Always clean it out and give it a bit of a wash. It just seems to be a piece of junk, thinking about swapping to a John Deere, but after reading the reviews, they don't seem to be much better. May as well cut my lawn with scissors.

Grass catcher
I find the mower ok however I paid $900 for the grass catcher and it is absolutely useless. What a waste of money... picks up a handful of grass and leaves the rest in chunks on the lawn. I will be contacting manufacturer to see what they have to say

Husqvarna mower
Never again will I purchase a Husqvarna. Nothing but issues from the day it came home. Would not start after it had been running as it would flood. Dealer had to bypass auto choke.
Second fault was the Not so Smart start. Solenoid failed and for months had issues getting the unit to crank until it refused to start at all. Smart Switch needed replacing.
Cutting deck split within the the first month. A flat soccer ball caused a split of approx 100 mm near the waste shoot. metal is incredibly soft and poor design as it sheared near a cutout....Read more

Absolutely pathetic. I purchased a 138, when it was less than 3 months old with 12 hours on meter
It was a HUGE MISTAKE to purchase a Husqvana 138 after having a greenfield for 30 years.
I had the 138 for less than 3 months with 12 hours on the meter and i made a bigger mistake when i traded it on a 242.
Within 5 months it had 2 recalls, at 20 hours, it would only idle on full throttle and blow black smoke until it stopped.
Then it wouldn't start.
"" Smart switch what an absolute joke that thing is" Called it a day.
No lights, nothing.
Also, drama when engaging the cutting blades.
Pull button up to start cutting and nothing or they may turn for 3 or 4 turns and stop completely with the EE fault light on.
Took it to Dealership, 190 kms away, for Warranty repairs and service.
Smart switch was replaced under warranty.

Good mower if used with care
The mower has 140 hours on the meter and is being used on a 1.7 acre block with good level lawns, and a 2.0 acre block that is fairly rough. The former has lots of trees and garden beds to go round and takes about 2 hours. The latter has trees planted on a grid but has to be taken more slowly because of the roughness of the ground (former cultivated paddock). It takes 2.5 - 3.0 hours to mow.
Mower is comfortable and each block can be usually mowed in one go without any aches and pains.
Engine always starts first go and has plenty of power ...Read more

Major problem at 16hours
Both spindles had to be replaced at 16 Hours, also had starting problems when new the choke needed fixing, apart from this the mower is fine. I find the code method to switch on the ignition a waste of time. The mower is comfortable to use and very good at cutting the grass. So far I am reasonably happy.

great mower with a few problems
have ts24 replacing lth21 42 more speed more talk a great mower apart from one problem the new quick blade release in the first few hours of mowing cap came off chewed up by blades next mow the other one came off yesterday removed blades fore sharpening the brackets that hold blads on were very hard to undo because of the buildup of hard dirt had to use the wd spray the blade holders are hinged with two cotter pins on one side they went awol don't know how the blade stayed on pretty scary thought still on the original blades there is a bit of wear through not being protected by the caps i think the idea of a quick release system is a good one but it needs much improvement i think there should be a recall it is dangerous

Had issues with drive & reverse in under a week
Not that impressed with mower, Had mower back twice to dealer as mower wouldn’t reverse within 2hrs old! firstly was told it needed purging, was in dealership for two weeks, second time different dealership they had to replace the diff at a substantial cost, luckily mower is still under warranty. Mower still squeals when driving! Not happy with that but motor starts 1st time every time.

Too clever
The plastic caps over the quick release mechanism fell off and got munched by the blades on about the third use, around 15 hrs. The cutter deck metal tore open at the exit shute as the cap exited. Not a good start, welded up the cutter deck and tossed the plastic caps. Then around 160 hours later one of the blades fell off. Removed the deck to inspect properly only to find one of the pins missing from the hinged quick release clamp, checked its mate and same thing, one of the hinge pins missing though this blade was yet to jump ship. Am yet to ...Read more
discuss my angst with the dealership but was hoping to find a good work around soloution. I think my spindle bearings are also on the way out too, they are a bit lumpy as you turn them with no load. We used to have a Murray by Sentinal, cheap and cheerful and no where near as flimsy as this pretty piece of plastic. The whole chassis twists on uneven ground which is a bit disconcerting, I am concerned about the metal fatigue this is causing. The keyless start is frustrating and unnecessarily time consuming what were they thinking, it’s a lawn mower for goodness sake, keys work just fine thanks. Would I buy another Husqvarna, probably not; would I recommend this model, definitely not. Had a chat to our local dealer who did not want to know about my dramas, ie not covered under warranty. I sent them an email quoting a few important terms like “merchantable quality” from the Australian Consumer Law web site. It had the desired effect though they had the go slow thing happening for 3 yes 3 weeks. Even hung up on me once. I read somewhere that it is just as important to have a reputable dealer as a reputable product. Too true. Never ever going back to the mob I bought mine from.Similar opinion? Broke down after using for 13 hours.
I purchased this because thinking that its a good brand. But to my deep disappointment the belt was broken and some of the blades were bent and I was using it on a normal place in Victoria. To make matter worse, its not covered under warranty, and I had to come out of my own money for replacement. And I have not abused the equipment plus I set the cutting height to be the highest.
December 6th 2017 Update: Poor Quality product matched with Non service at all
Not only has the mower failed miserable after using slightly more than 10 hours, now after calling and email, there is not a single phone call nor email.
Total lack of care factor for such a company like this. What else can I say

Good pruduct
The nice price mower i could find with the features it has. Great all round mower. Smooth operation. Nice big fuel tank. 5 year warranty when purchased with 5 litres of engine oil. Powerful Husqvarna 200 Series Engine. I also thought the 24 months interest free deal was something to consider when purchasing one.

Does what I need it to do
After much researching I bought the TS 242 despite some of the reviews on here. It came with poly trailer, cover and bottle of oil and was the best value mower I could find by far. It's perfect for my needs and I've had no problems with it at all (touch wood) aside from accidently starting it with the oil cap off. It only gets used 4 or 5 times each summer but it's over some pretty rough and step ground, it's handled everything so far without issues.

My 242 hit a small root and caused the blade to split the stone guard. The mowing mechanism now makes a dreadful noise when engaged. Can the the guard be welded apor will it have to be replaced? If so, approximately how much would this cost?

Are the 242 and 342 ts now of a better quality now and are the spindles protected with a shearing devise in case of hitting an obstacle.? When a starting switch is accidentilly left on does the hour meter continues to count or does the meter only count when the engine is running? Which is important!

Further issues - quick release cover came off then damage to blade quick release and blades, ok after fitting spare parts - better quality and fitted correctly. and only runs well 95/98 octane fuels
