Perfect family car
We purchased our car 1 year ago, in August 2018. We upgraded from a Mazda 3 because we struggled to fit a pram and all the shopping in the boot of the Mazda. So the Tucson has turned out perfect for everything we need, plus more... the boot is a great size for the pram plus all the shopping. The seats are comfortable and I find that no parts give you a blind spot, such as those panels in between the windows - sometimes they get in the way when you're doing a shoulder check - but not in the Tucson. The safety features are incredible, reverse ...Read more
camera and sensors when you're parking, and even sensors when someone is walking behind your car and you want to reverse from a car park - this eases my mind greatly with a toddler at home, I just know that, if he ever tries to run behind the car or in front of the car, my car will beep and immediately stop without me using the brakes. The sunroof is a dream! The car drives smoothly, it isn't too loud and it actually has some oomph in it for a family car! We cannot fault the car, it is a perfect family car, it's comfortable, spacious, safe, full of technology and Hyundai really look after you as a customer with their road side assistance and free upgrades of the GPS system. It's truly a beautiful car inside and outside, in every aspect!Purchased in August 2021 at Hyundai Dealers.

“Good” driving comfort but quality issues
Had the car since Sep 2016. The car drives very well. I loved the car when I first got it. Great car to drive. However, problems start popping up after 2 years and I had the following issues in just the short 3 years of owning one:
- a component of the electronic park brake failed last year. Symptom was sometimes the EPB engaged but sometimes it didn’t. Had it replaced under warranty.
- Last December, the aircon was out on the days when the temperature was 40+C. Had the car with the dealer for 2 weeks before they could fixed it. Replaced a con...Read more

Beautiful to drive, but infotainment system lacks
So far we have done 2000 kms on our 2.0L CDI Highlander. Yes there can be a little bit of turbo lag when taking off from a standing start but you just need to factor this in if entering a busy road or ducking across traffic and use a little gas before letting off the brake. Apart from that the gear changes are nice and smooth, the car is quiet to drive, the seats are comfortable and the air con works well, it handles extremely well for a car with a higher centre of gravity, not much body roll. It brakes well and the 2L diesel pulls it along ver...Read more
y nicely. The leather seats are comfortable and the cooling system in them works well when I have a sweaty gooch. The moon roof is a nice feature as well. The only downers are sometimes after a hard bit of acceleration up to speed and then waiting on that speed, the gearbox sometimes takes a few extra moments to change to that higher gear which is a bit annoying. Also we have a 2017 model, I'm not sure about the later models but the infotainment system is not very intuitive using android phones. It doesn't automatically connect to mine or my wifes phone each time we get in, if an SMS comes in it doesn't show up on the screen to read, you have to use this android auto app which is absolute garbage (needs to be connected via UDB cable).

Love! Love! Love!
We recently updated our family car from our old (unreliable) Holden Captiva to a new 2018 Hyundai Tucson Highlander. After lots of research and test drives we decided to go with the Hyundai and it was a great decision! Absolutely beautiful to drive, countless cool extras like heated seats, sunroof, automatic boot etc, etc. We decided to go diesel and the fuel economy is amazing. Definitely highly recommend!

Excellent Car. Pleasure To Drive.
We bought the highlander turbo diesel just over 2 years ago now and have done some serious driving in it and now at 110,000 km. We love it and what a great car it is!
The turbo diesel highlander goes like a rocket and easily saves you when pulling out and overtaking. I understand people's negative comments about the petrol model because we were loaned a petrol model once when getting a service (Active X) and it was terrible to drive, seriously lacking in power and felt like a totally different car to the highlander model.

s unbelievable and we get around 5.5L/100km as we live rural now but city wise we were getting about 6.5L/100km which is better fuel economy than some hybrids. The sitting height is also very good however reversing without the camera and radar sensors that detect rear side ways traffic (highlander model only) would be a bit tricky as there's a bit of a blind spot rear wise.Similar opinion? Great SUV for great price
Bought in Dec and already 15000km. Great car. Low road noise. Awesome inclusions in Highlander. Love the glass sunroof and heated/cooled seats. Runs economically. Plenty of leg and head room. Only neg to us was that you can't have digital speed and distance to empty on display at same time like our previous cars. Storage area is good but if travelling with more than 3 people luggage space could be an issue. Would definitely recommend. Very happy with purchase.

Highlander 2017 love it!
Love this vehicle. The heated seats are worth every cent. Leather seats with air conditioned seats too. Sleek inside easy to operate media system. Dash is very easy to use. Room back seat. The rear seats recline. Spacious boot with cover. Our second Hyundai and now we are spoilt we will will always by Hyundai as the warm seats are just so good on a sore back.

A perfect purchase
Excellent value for money.
We purchased the Tuscon Highlander.
Very comfortable, easy to drive.
Servicing has been a breeze and it has been very well priced when compared to other brands.
Fuel economy in the city is very good and even better on the open road
Handles really well with loads of space.
We have had no trouble from the car at all.
Extremely happy with our purchase.

Love My Car
Traded in my Mazda CX-5 to the Highlander Tuscon and definately wont be looking back. Whilst the Tuscon doesnt have as much power as the CX-5 the other features made the transition really easy. Moon roof, heated and electric seats, sunroof, excellent sat nav (kicks butt over the CX-5). Probably only thing I dont like is the phone bluetooth is a bit dodgy but looks sexy, drives well and is fuel efficient.

Good Car BUT Beware of Hyundai Australia Service
Good quality car but if you get a difficult problem that the dealer can't sort out then Hyundai Australia are very slow to help and refer you back to the dealer anyway. The dealer did try to resolve the problem on several occasions but was not technically proficient. After a year I gave up waiting for Hyundai to help and found the fault myself which I referred to the dealer and it was then fixed. The problem was poor radio reception. The dealer replaced the headset but that was all. I eventually found that the problem was with the shark fin antenna which has an active circuit (signal booster). The dealer then replaced the antenna. Now has good radio reception.

Tucson highlander
Problems with Australian Tucson highlander: no CarPlay, poor sound system, vehicle steers left which dealership cannot fix, stupid compass in rear vision mirror.
Other than this everything is excellent, great car. Do not be put off buying this vehicle. Heaps of accessories. Love boot, inside and outside look of the car, heated seats are great.

Fantastic
I love ❤️ my car . It is so responsive when driving . Very little road noise . Great legroom in the back . I love that both drivers & passenger seats have electric seating options & the aircon/ heating is also adjustable in the rear seats . It is very fuel efficient ( deisal ) I would have liked the cream leather option instead of just grey or black . This is only my preference

Great Car
I had new 2017 Hyundai Tucson Highlander in Diesel, great car handles well drives well all around.
Love the moon roof kids love it, legroom is great.
But the only thing i hate about it is the sound system, this is way below par for a top end car. Hope Hyundai is listening to this and will come up with some update that will enable to amplify the sound system.

Motrex radio problem with Tucson Highlander
Purchased a new Tucson Highlander from Peter Stevens Ballarat Victoria in October 2016. The radio sat' nav' unit has been faulty from new but Peter Stevens Service Department cannot get a replacement from the Motrex Company. Why after 6 plus months wont they replace it, don't they care about the users of their products ?
Perhaps Hyundai should look for a more reliable supplier.

The best SUV I test drove
After spending months researching my first SUV, I had narrowed down my to a Mazda CX-5 Akera, Nissan Qashqai, Toyota RAV4 and Tucson Highlander. I've been a rusted on Toyota driver for a long time now and so it wasn't an easy decision to move on. But when I test drove a Highlander in a diesel model, I was definitely impressed. Everything about the handling of it felt right to me, and all the features, steering, controls etc all suited my body frame. I don't feel cramped in this vehicle at all and the car feels quite solid to me. The panoramic s...Read more
unroof is amazing when opened. I like the interior design and am not particularly bothered by the use of plastics in vehicles. Whilst I'm not a car expert by any means, I find this to be one of the more stylish looking vehicles, not boxy or outdated looking like others. So I decided to buy a diesel model and I have had it for about 6 weeks now. This is the first diesel I've ever owned. I am satisfied by the fuel efficiency and general grunt it has, making it easier to merge into fast moving traffic. I've read that diesel engines are generally more noisy, but I don't find it too bad at all in this car. Hyundai have fixed price servicing, so I have a general idea of servicing costs. The leather interior is comfortable and soft, and the air conditioned front seats are fabulous. My only gripe is that the audio quality of the speakers is a bit on the tinny side for my liking, but it is not enough to warrant a change of mind. Overall, I would definitely recommend this car for a test drive.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Poor high beam
So far, the car is great to drive. Exceptional economy and good road handling. For me, the vehicle has two problems which should be addressed.
1: The high beam is inadequate on country roads at night. The low beam is a crisp white LED light, whilst the high beam emits an orange/yellow light, which doesn't extend too much past the low beam projection. (No, they're not the fog lights) Thus they don't give a lot of confidence driving on country back roads with kangaroos and such about.
2: With the Highlander's forward collision sensors mounte...Read more
d in the front bumper, it's not possible to fit a nudge bar. It would be advantageous if a nudge bar with built in sensors to replace the front bumper sensors was on the market, as a genuine accessory from Hyundai. Otherwise, a good car to drive.Purchased in November 2021.

We love the Tuscon, best Mid sized SUV imo
Did a lot of research trying to find the right car, ended up settling on the Tuscon, it ticked every box for us. Went for the Tuscon Highlander Turbo diesel.
We pushed to get the interior with the cream leather instead of the standard black (we were told they don't do cream in Australia, I asked if they wanted to sell a car - ended up with cream interior).
I can say that the car has been awesome, my wife and I love the car so far and have been able to travel quite a bit with it so far, we previously had second hand and dodgy cars that we never thought would make it anywhere on a long trip.
In regards to Hyundai though they have not been the best for us.

Very Happy
Firstly let me say I am not a "car" person . I had my previous Subaru Forester for 15 years and it never let me down so must say I was focused on buying another one . However I did a lot of research and after doing many test drives I settled on the Highlander which pretty must had so many features for the price it came out onto of my list.
I had an issue with the smart key which has a release button at the top with the manual key inside it this was so sensitive the slightest touch released it and the key fell out would have been so easy to los...Read more

Buyers Remorse
My diesel Hyundai Tucson Highlander was delivered two weeks ago and I would gladly pay $5,000 to Hyundai’s nominated charity if they would take it back. On the ride home from the dealership the multimedia system locked up and has been nothing but trouble ever since. In order to stop the thing driving me mad, I’ve had to pull the fuse and that means no USB to charge my phone, no radio, no maps, no reversing camera. And no care from Hyundai.
Of course I immediately called Hyundai Customer Care but they were not open on the weekend. So I logged...Read more
an internet ticket on the web site thinking that as it was a brand new car Hyundai would respond first thing Monday – come to think of it, I never did get a response to that ticket. Around lunchtime Monday I called Customer Care, they told me to call the dealer, the dealer told me they could not fit me in until the end of the following week. Back to Customer Care and the manager got me into the dealer earlier but now I have make another booking for a software upgrade… But the failure of the multimedia system is not the intrinsic reason I would give this car up – its Hyundai’s poor response. This is a brand new care but nobody cares. So putting all that aside, what do I think of the car? It drives well and has some interesting features like Lane Keep Assist, a giant sunroof and a bizarre contraption that makes the headlights see around corners. But I would swap them all for a decent stereo. When the stereo does work, the sound quality is appalling, the radio does not display song titles (hardly a big deal but I had a car 10 years ago that did this), there is only one USB port (gosh, for $50k plus, please sir, can I have some more?) And the worst, most damn annoying thing, is that to use the maps you have to turn the radio on (WTF has the radio got to do with GPS?). If you don’t want to listen to the radio you can turn it down but when you restart the car the sound comes back up again. Nuts.1 comment
