Appalling lack of data quality and outdated information
Was knocked back for credit and then discovered the FSI performed a credit check via Illion. To my horror when I checked the report it was 4 years out of date and still had errors that had been removed from my Equifax credit report 3 years ago. Absolutely disgraceful! Can't believe that lenders use their services!!

They reset my paid debt. What's the point of paying?
After 5years I only found out I had debt from 5years ago when I was heavily pregnant and my phone got stolen. Obviously I had a police report but forgot all about my phone bill as I got a new phone . I paid my debt and now it's been reset. It's going to stay in my record for 5more years. Do not pay your debts it's a trap.

Fraudsters!
I applied for a CC and was told by my bank I had a default and to contact Illion. The default was from a company I’d never heard of, momentum energy. I looked into it and they don’t even provide electricity in my state! After looking through my credit file it had me living in Victoria as a plumber, with an additional mortgage, credit cards and a different employer. I live in Qld, never been a plumber have 1 home loan . I lodged a complaint and was told it was going to be 30 days so I rang momentum energy and demanded they remove the default. F...Read more
rom that my credit file has changed back and forth. 5 name changes, different occupations, different DOB’s, different addresses ranging from VIC to Qld along with different enquires ect. Today I was informed that all the info was updated and correct, when I checked it was worse than it was initially. So I then used the wrong details on my credit file to ring ANZ, gave them the reference numbers I had, amounts of the loans, the other persons name and DOB and address to access the accounts, they couldn’t believe it. It’s now under investigation. Illion answer to no one and do not care about correct reporting. How they are able to effect people’s lives, distribute personal details to other people accidentally and face no recourse is beyond me. illion credit report untrustable & failed
I would give this credit report company a Zero star if there is.
long story short.
This company produce incorrect credit report, unprofessional and long delay.
1. takes 1 month to product a online credit report.
2. takes another 1 month to investigate a default.
3. takes another 1 month to reply 1 e-mail.
4. takes more than 2 months still investigate another default.
5 after default investigation the credit provider already confirmed the person detail such as DOB & driver licence don't match and also confirmed they did not have default listing...Read more
with illion, however illion still refused to removed the default. 6. Veda a very large credit report company which show no defaults. Conclusion this small company they produce incorrect credit report, they can put any person default on their system as they wish. No matter how incorrect this information is they won't admit their mistake and no matter what the investigation outcome is they still won't accept it.

Defamatory credit checks & disclosure unrelated personal details!
I had been refused telephone service’s in store & on online stores due to this company’s defamatory credit checks. I have checked the credit checks details online in which discloses personal details of an individual that dose not have a similar name, nor do not live in the same state in Australia. s company’s defamatory checks. This company is bogus & dose not disclose truthful statements in regards to its credit check. What makes it worse, is now that I have enquired about a service & been declined they have still continued to recorded it against my name! I now have to wait 30 days for this company to rectify this. Personal Data Breach - incorrect credit check report
Illions credit check report linked another persons record to my account.
After I login to illions website, the account setting shows my personal details but under the personal details section I can see another person's private information. Apart from the same surname, this person has totally different first name, address, DOB.
This person has home loans with ANZ and Westpack which Illion reported as my home loans now. Both Banks verified those home loans are under different person. Bank and I report this data breach to Illion more than a week ago, there is no sign of correcting from Illion.

Is it possible to seek compensation from Illion when they fail to fix an error and give out personal details of others by providing their details on your credit report?

Honestly I would think so since it’s an illegal process & technically defamation to one’s character. Your best bet is contacting with https://financialrights.org.au and making an official complaint against https://www.oaic.gov.au. Make sure you get legal advice as soon as possible, explaining your situation.
