Caronavirus refund
Ok, it's pretty disgusting how you plan to keep my dollars on a policy that I haven't used ( which I purchased last year) due to Caronavirus and Government travel alerts. It's totally out of my control and I'd certainly be traveling if I could! To say there was a cooling off period when I purchased I understand, but this is out of my control so how about doing the right thing and try and keep future customers and refund !! I thought I found a good company with Insure and Go but maybe not......

Unhelpful and poor service
Refuse to refund our insurance when all international travel cancelled by government even though our travel date is 2 months ahead. So uncooperative and same letter sent to everyone!!
Sent email to Complaints department and was returned unknown!! Very shonky company.

Absolutely Disgusted
Purchased our cruise policy in July 2022
For a cruise to depart 20th April 2020. Due to the Coronavirus the cruise line cancelled the cruise. When I asked Insure and Go for a refund of an unused policy I was told no refund because we were outside of the 14 day cooling off period. This has been extenuating circumstances for so many people and all travel agents are processing refunds for their clients. We have always used Insure and Go and have never claimed. Will never use this company again and will make sure as many people as I can reach out to will not use them either. Absolute daylight robbery on your part as a company.

Insurance Invalidated with no compensation or redress
I have used this company for annual travel insurance over many years.
I took out a 12 month multi trip Gold insurance policy including medical excess premiums with InsureandGo starting in February 2020. The total cost was $2700. Due to the present coronavirus worldwide travel ban my overseas flights in April by were cancelled by Qantas. I was able to gain refunds for most of the air travel, ground transport and hotels by various companies.

In the circumstances a refund, or at least an extension of the policy, is both a moral and legal obligation of InsureandGo. We submitted our claim 5 weeks ago for a policy purchased in sept 2022 for travel April 2020. We were unable to travel due to government restrictions and border closures. We were contacted after 2 weeks requesting extra documentation that was sent back on the same day but have heard nothing for 3 weeks since then.
We tried calling and was told our enquiry would be passed onto the person looking after our case, but again we have heard nothing. I emailed again to make sure that they had everything that was needed but no response.
I understand it is a very busy and trying time for everyone but insure and go need to communicate better.

Extremely Poor Service
We had a cruise booked for May/June and insured with Insure and Go well before the Corona Virus outbreak. When the cruise was cancelled we assumed we could cancel our insurance and get a refund. Unfortunately this is not the case as Insure and Go just quote their policy and refuse refunds. I think ALL disgruntled customers should get together and take out a Class Action on these bandits!!!

Appalling experience
I purchased the gold policy for a holiday in USA in Feb 2020 for travel in May 2020. Due to Australia and USA lockdowns, my husband and I weren't able to travel let alone boarding flights, taking Cruise tours. We did not cancel the trip, the government prohibited us to travel. One would think Insure and Go would be understanding under these circumstances and refund us in full even though we haven't started the trip. They refuse to refund. It took us many years of savings and they weren't understanding. I have referred my family and friends to Insure and Go previously and I am utterly disappointed.

Nov 2022 gold policy ..Cancelled on govt med advice re high risk pre bordersflight being closed and no refund
We bought gold cover for cardiac condition in Nov.2019. Cancelled trip mid March due to covered pre existing cardiac condition...and high risk age group on Med / govt recommendation to self isolate.... $2600 policy and no refund. Classed as not in 14 day cooling off period. Disgusting. I repeat..We meet all criteria...policy date... nov 2022. Had to self isolate on govt medical recommendation...cancelled by choice on medical reasons BEFORE borders and flights were stopped and closed... ... gold cover for said medical... Absolutely disgusting we cannot get a refund...on medical grounds...never ever ever again. Full refund received in the past for unused policy with covermore....about to try again tomorrow for full refund.

Unhelpful with my husband's death
My husband died when travelling overseas and Insure and Go would not get help underway until they had every document to hand. Other companies start helping while collecting the documents. It was a full week before they appointed a funeral company and I had to give them recommendations! They would only use his email account and seemed to not understand that I was not in the country where he died. They were unsympathetic and very disorganised. I had to send the travel documents more than once and then they rang me to read them over the phone. All while I was in a state of shock. If the consulate had not directed them to take some action I don't think they would have. Never again will I use this company.

No Option to Transfer the Insurance I Took for a Holiday Cancelled Due To Covid
Like the other reviews here I was surprised and disappointed that they can't move the insurance on trips cancelled due to Covid. Really? Every airline and booking site has come to the party but they apparently can't.
I'm going to the travel ombudsman just on the principle of this; it's really poor behavior and I just don't understand their inability to do what every other organisation seems to be able to do.

Ripped Off
Like a lot of the complainants below I have been ripped off by this company. I have 3 policies booked for this year and I asked for a change of dates for a trip that was cancelled in March 2020. I wasn't making a claim or seeking a refund just asking for a change of policy dates and like the posters below got the standard 14 day cooling off response. I then emailed a response displaying my disgust at their attitude and received the exact same response as the first time. I then received an email advising me to contact the complaints department which I did but I am still waiting. I only selected this company because they were advertised on the Fifty up club website so I presumed they would be trustworthy.

Absolutely no coverage despite having Gold coverage with add medical & natural
Disaster, they refuse to cover anything even medical because of Corona but won’t over refund or credit !!! AVOID !!! Scammers who in it for the $$$

After their refusal to refund everyone that has tried to get their money back because of the Pandemic the star rating will be a lot lower than 4 stars.
I have spent $1200 on a Gold Cruise policy because of medical conditions,bought it in July last year to cover my husband and l for the month of May this year.Of course everything is cancelled, have tried emails,phone calls and every time they sprout the same thing, it’s after the 14 day refund period.l have tried to find names,email addresses and phone numbers for someone higher up the chain of command that can actually do something no luck.
Will not use this company ever again.

The most dishonest insurance company ever
They are the most dishonest insurance company I've ever had. I postponed my trip to USA and they refused to change the date of my police. They just took my money like thieves. COVID-19 has been separated the good companies from the crap ones. You should keep using hotels.com, airbnb, Delta airlines, but never ever buy insurance from MAPFRE....

Can not believe they can refuse refunds
We booked and paid for our insurance in September 2022 for our March cruise .It all got cancelled two weeks before leaving date we got refunds from everyone but Insure n go. They totally refused it . Does any other who got ripped of know how to lodge a CLASS ACTION against then . Please never use them again everyone.

Couldnt travel to NZ due to closed border and cancelled flights. Asked for a refund of policy or a credit for future use - standard "past the 14 days cooling period". Poor response as all other service providers refunded or provided credit. Will never use again or recommend

Tried to get refund on Policy
We purchased their yearly policy on 27/09/2019 for worldwide cover, as we have done previous years. We have never made a claim. I asked them will they credit or at least extend the cover time forward. Answer (FLAT NO) We paid $680.84 for 12 months cover. Yet due to the virus, lock down, we cant travel, so we can never make a claim. They are not providing a service, yet they are charging for it. Hence, they need to address their policy on refund. Hence needless to say, this matter will go further.

No credit or rescheduling of travel insurance
Took out gold cover plus extra for pre-existing condition for 8 weeks travel to Europe in June. Have not made any claims as got refunds or free cancellations but thought we may be able to reschedule due to current worldwide situation but told not possible.

My policy was purchased 19/2/20. My query is did Insureandgo know when i purchased this worthless policy that due to the pandemic they would not be liable for any claims. In other words they took my money for jam. As far as I am aware the pandemic was declared 31/1/20. I feel that should have been informed at purchase. My cruise dates were from 22/5/20 to 5/6/20. Hi Keith, It's more of, if you did travel and caught the virus that you are not covered. But our dispute is that it doesn't matter when you purchased the policy you haven't traveled yet, We all should be getting a refund. I have read that other travel insurance companies are refunding. As it is not our fault that all travel has been shut down. InsureandGo stand to make thousands of dollars if they do not give everyone back there money. I have put in a formal complaint to the ombudsman now, not just for me but for everyone. I hope you and others can do the same, the more complaints the better chance on getting a refund.

If it's good enough for companies like Woolworths Insurance to refund the policies then it should be the same for all major companies. I'm seeking clarification from them on my 2 policies purchased for travel this year then I will too go the the ombudsman. In a spirit of goodwill from them I'd even be happy with credit for my future travel.
