Insurance Invalidated with no compensation or redress
I have used this company for annual travel insurance over many years.
I took out a 12 month multi trip Gold insurance policy including medical excess premiums with InsureandGo starting in February 2020. The total cost was $2700. Due to the present coronavirus worldwide travel ban my overseas flights in April by were cancelled by Qantas. I was able to gain refunds for most of the air travel, ground transport and hotels by various companies.
InsureandGo has flatly refused either a premium refund or an extension of the policy for a 12 mo...Read more
nth period once international travel from Australia is resumed. So I have paid for a service which they can no longer supply. In the circumstances a refund, or at least an extension of the policy, is both a moral and legal obligation of InsureandGo. Like other dissatisfied customers I will be taking this up with various industry and consumer watchdogs. Hopefully an enterprising legal firm will launch a class action before long.Similar opinion? Still waiting
Like so many others I am also following up the lack of communications with InsureandGo. My initial email contact was ignored, I persisted and was sent a very reassuring response saying they would be able to change the dates on our policy to new travel dates. Once all travel was banned and no end date in sight I emailed again requesting we change the dates to the same ones next year. I was told originally we had up

I completely understand they would be overwhelmed with enquiries and requests at this difficult time but having waited two weeks and still no response, our original departure date looms near. After reading all these reviews I am starting to feel like this policy is worthless. I have given a 1 star because there is no option to give lower.

Tried to get refund on Policy
We purchased their yearly policy on 27/09/2019 for worldwide cover, as we have done previous years. We have never made a claim. I asked them will they credit or at least extend the cover time forward. Answer (FLAT NO) We paid $680.84 for 12 months cover. Yet due to the virus, lock down, we cant travel, so we can never make a claim. They are not providing a service, yet they are charging for it. Hence, they need to address their policy on refund. Hence needless to say, this matter will go further.

Insurance denied for delayed trip despite purchasing policy months before COVID-19 outbreak
In June 2022, I purchased multi-trip annual insurance with the 'natural disaster' option on the understanding that it offered the same conditions as single trip cover that I had taken previously. Their documents indicated that the policy did cover travel prevented by government regulation. The boutique travel company that offered my trip took great pains to contact their suppliers in Italy to reorganise the trip at the same time next year with 100% success. So imagine my surprise when I called InsureAndGo with my request to reschedule the c...Read more
over for this trip, just to be advised that there was no cover for this delayed travel. I was informed that had the company just cancelled, I could have claimed for the whole tour, but because they took the effort to reschedule, nothing was covered!!! Disgusted with response from Insure and Go
I have taken out gold Annual Multi Trip Insurance and due to travel restrictions with COVID19 cannot travel. Their policy is only good for international travel - it does not cover domestic travel. Asked Insure & Go for a credit or deferment for the 6 months of the policy that cannot be used. Airlines, hotels and tours have all given credits, even other insurance companies have refunded premiums but not Insure & Go, they get to keep all the premiums, dont have to pay out because you get refunds or credits for their travel. Avoid this company at all costs!!
Avoid this company at all costs. Despite having purchased Gold annual insurance for a number of years when it came time to claim because of COVID-19 they simply used a concocted excuse not to pay our claim.
Any correspondence with the claims person just resulted in the same parrot like fashion response. Will not provide refund on annual multi trip policy despite Government travel restrictions stopping overseas travel
Purchased our policy a couple of months before the government stopped all travel overseas, meaning that we cannot utilise the policy at all. We have tried numerous times to get them to respond even noting that fellow insurers (NRMA travel) are offering partial refunds on annual multi trip policies that are not more than six months old. But impossible to get them on phone and they keep issuing their stock standard email which is to deny any refund if it's more than 14 days since the policy was purchased. This response does not make sense with an annual policy!
We've purchased policies from them many times before with our travels and have never claimed. Will NEVER USE THEM AGAIN!

All of us should put in a class action against insure & go. Same as the below responses, i payed $189 dollars for my travel insurance in August 2022 for my over seas trip this April. Same response from them was i should have cancelled in the 14 day cooling of period in August 2022. The Coronavirus was not heard of back then. My response back from the complaints department was sorry we can not assist you because you had two weeks to cancel your trip back in August 2022. Rip off - won't provide a credit or refund
Yes, we are in the same boat took travel insurance to travel in April 2020, air flights were cancelled by carrier early March 2020 and then the travel ban occurred. We tried contacting the Insure and Go contact centre by phone a number of times and also by email - still no response to an email sent over 3 weeks ago.
Managed to get through by phone and was told I could not get a refund or credit. We've lost all trust and credit ability in the organisation, obviously their not thinking about their customers or their employees. Is our experience a taste of what it would be like if we were to make a n insurance claim?
The organisation needs customers to exist and to keep your employees in a job - rethink your actions!

Dont have the ability to 'renew' the policy with same start date which was before Corona Virus declared a know situation
I was happy with the process of purchasing the annual policy but we had to take it out early to cover our bookings for our big Europe trip. This meant that we took the policy out before the Corona Virus was a know event but our actual travel doesn't start within this period and we have been told that we need to take out a NEW policy with a new start date. I feel that we did the right thing but will be penalized for taking it out too early as that means while we are travelling if anything happens to do with the Corona Virus we won't be covered! what does AMT 60 days mean? I can only travel 60 days? can only stay in one country 60 days? Malaysia has 90 day visa, Georgia up to 1 year visa
1 answer
Anna J.InsureandGo Australia
Hi David, good question.
Our annual multi trip policies provide cover for multiple trips taken within a 12 month period, but the maximum length of each individual trip is 60 days on the Gold AMT 60 days policy you mentioned. This means, visa permitting, you can stay in Malaysia for up to 60 days, then travel to Georgia for up to 60 days, and travel to other countries within the 12 month period for which you buy the policy, but each individual trip cannot exceed 60 days. I hope this clarifies things.
Thanks, Anna

Does this annual Multi -trip automatically cover cruises

check with the company
Anna J.InsureandGo Australia
Hi Mary-Anne, thanks for reaching out.
We offer a cruise specific policy that has coverage more specific to cruise needs (missed port, cabin confinement and more). You can learn more at: https://www.insureandgo.com.au/travel-insurance/cruise-travel-insurance.jsp
Our annual multi trip policy, however, doesn't provide cover for commercial cruises. We define a commercial cruise as: any travel on sea, ocean or river by any commercially operated ship, boat or other sea vessel with scheduled journey time longer than 2 hours.
I hope this helps.
Thanks, Anna

During the trip I would be scuba diving (I am certified PADI Rescue level) and will only be diving with authorised and licenced scuba companies, completing about 12 dives max during the trip.
In light of the background I provided:
is my scuba diving covered? (If yes, what is covered)
Is the 17 year old covered, even though a student in Denmark (and joining our trip from Europe)?
How much would a policy cost for this type of trip?
Your feedback would be appreciated,
Cheers,
Michael
1 answer
Anna J.InsureandGo Australia
Hi Michael, thanks for reaching out. That sounds like an amazing trip!
Regarding scuba diving: yes, you are covered, as long as you don't dive alone, or deeper than 30 metres.
Unfortunately, since your 17 year old has already left Australia, he would not be covered by a policy purchased from us. I would recommend you arrange travel insurance with a local provider in Denmark for him.
Also, regrettably, I'm not able to provide quotes, as there are too many other variables that will determine the cost of a policy, and so a price I give would likely be inaccurate. I would definitely recommend you call our team in Sydney and get a quote quickly. If you call 1300 401 177 and explain your situation, you will get an accurate price over the phone, it won't take long and you can purchase immediately if you are happy with the price.
I hope this helps.
Thanks, Anna
