Don't risk it
Painted brand new deck a year ago and let dry for about 3 days before it rained. The deck went all milky but dryed clear again a day later. 3 months later it started to peel and got worse and worse. Trying to take it off is a nightmare.
Purchased in March 2021 at Bunnings Warehouse for $240.

Good product, but check is manufacture date before purchasing.
Good product, which I've used before. I would recommend it, but ALWAYS check the bottom of the can before purchasing. I purchase a can from Bunnings West footscray on the 7/03/2019. Started coating the deck and was struggling with the product, unlike the first time when it went on brilliant. Upon looking at the bottom of the can, I saw it had been made back in 2016. Unfortunately I had already started using the can, so completed the job, but not nearly as good as the front deck which was done in 2018 using a can made in 2017.
Purchased in March 2022 at Bunnings Warehouse for $138.

Can intergrain d4 and heavy duty be applied to treated pine?

Read moreYou can certainly apply the Intergrain Dimension 4 UltraPrep Sealer & Primer plus Heavy Duty (Previously DWD) over treated pine. It's just a matter of giving the treated pine a thorough pressure wash/scrub down via the Intergrain Tannin & Oil Remover, followed directly by the Intergrain Timber Cleaner as per label instructions. Once all is rinsed clean and dry - You can then begin with the Intergrain Heavy Duty coatings in colour of choice. Please be sure to first apply the sample pot process by two-three coats first, over a dry clean off-cut or hidden section of the timber. Just to make sure you're happy with the dry colour result before committing to the expanse. Posting again to see if anyone from Intergrain has a comment? I had a new deck installed about 9 months ago, and a light coat of Intergrain natural applied. Then in early December I had a professional painter come and we cleaned the deck with ultra-prep, after which he applied three (3) coats of DWD, leaving to dry for 24 hours between each coat. It’s now end of January and the deck is still tacky the same as Chris mentioned above.
I have since contacted the painter and a rep from Intergrain grain called to review the work, he saw no problem with how the varnish was applied (thickness, pre prep etc.). His only comment was that the specification on the product shows temperature limits and the deck does get up to 60°C in direct sunlight! However, it’s two months now since it was applied and feels wrong when you walk on the deck. To me I don’t understand how your product would soften in direct sunlight and how there seems to be no solution to the sticky issue.
Do you have any suggestions or remedies, or am I going to have to get the deck stripped down and seek a better product that will cope in the Australian sun?
