Great Product from my experience.
Applied Intagrain Ultradeck ( 2 coats) on a newly re-laid merbau deck at our rental property more than four years ago, which has a shade sail over, though deck gets plenty of sun. Rain water falls to the center of the sail and pours through like a waterfall.
The coating has been fantastic from day one both in appearance and performance. Even though it didn't look like it needed it, have re-coated ( 1 coat) twice- which was super easy.
Came back to read the reviews tonight after recommending to my brother- so super surprised at comments from...Read more
some regarding whitening etc. Something I never saw or experienced even with high water volume hitting the deck, hence added my review. I did use the product at my own house on our front door tread a few weeks ago in April and noticed, as it was in full shade and a little cooler,it took two days for the tackiness to stop- which surprised me as never experienced before on the deck. I am still 100% confident in the product, though my advice would be if concerned and if coating in the shade and/or the cooler months, hold the second coat until sure any tackiness ( if you get it) has gone. This stuff is bullet proof so walking on between coats isn't going to damage anything and just wipe with damp cloth a hour before the second coat.Purchased in February 2021.

Looks great and worth the money
We had a professional flooring guy sand and oil our deck 3 years ago. He recommended 2 coats of Intergrain. It looked great and is still looking great, except for the landing area in full sun. So we just had him back to re oil everything, even though the majority of the deck in the shade didn't really need it. Very happy with this product and certainly much better than cheaper products I'd used. We'll give it 3 days before walking on it.

Thumbs up
We used Intergram Ultra beck 'natural' on our uncovered 100sqm treated pine deck that gets full sun about a year ago.
We water blasted throughly, left a few days to dry, then applied two coats by hand (using a lge paint brush as our boards are grove side up). Painted full lengh boards three at a time (and only when shady). Bit back breaking by hand, but worked steadily over a few days. Left a week inbetween coats, and stayed off deck about a week once finished. The end result is great and love the colour. It's a bit pricier but feel worth it.
A year later and it looks the the same...

Actually really good
I bought this as it was well priced and wanted to protect a new spotted gum deck that wasn't quite finished, just until I could finish it and get a "proper" oil. Well nearly three years later its still on the deck and yes the deck is still not finished. The only places where the timber is exposed is where the pool waterfall splashed over and on a low part of the deck. Very impressed.

Does everything that it says....on the Can.
I changed to Intergrain Ultra Deck a couple of years ago. I have 150m2 of decking which is fully exposed in a high rainfall cooler climate. So I need a product that protects and is relatively easy to maintain. It does not bring out the natural timber colours like a true oil however what it does do is it protects the timber, is very durable and you can get 2 coats done in a summer day. So I’m pleased with the outcome.

Very expensive garbage that has ruined my expensive deck
Doesnt dry properly and provides no water resistance to deck. I spent a week doing the job properly, with prep etc. Deck is now a hazy white colour even over a year later. I was advised that it just hadn’t cured yet, so keep it dry. Surely a year later it should be cured. The water has never beaded on it, so I doubt it is protecting the wood at all. I used three coats and allowed thorough drying between coats.
Horribly expensive useless product. Hours and hours of wasted labour to make my large deck look garbage. i dont even know where to start to repair it.
DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT!!!

ose what caused this or at what point the contamination occurred. You have a couple of options to resolve the issue, it is probably best to sand back to bare which allows you to then choose any coating however if you'd like to try a different method, you could try overcoating in a different product with different technology to prevent the contamination migrating to the new coating. To test this method you can 1. Prepare a test area consisting of 3-4 full board lengths. 2. Wash with Intergrain UltraPrep Timber Cleaner 3.Apply coating. I would perhaps suggest 2 coats of Feast Watson Matt Look or Wet Look, as they are based on different technology.Hi Erin. uct from Bunnings Cockburn Central and applied it exactly as advised, including cleaning and preparing it with a deck cleaning product noted above. When the white appearance first happened( a couple of months after the original application), i went to Bunnings and they contacted you and you advised me it just needed more time to cure. Could you test the remaining product for contamination? The whitening has actually worsened over time. I invested a large amount of time and money treating the very large deck and don't want to just experiment with more expensive treatments if I'm not sure they will rectify the problem. From reading other reviews it appears this isn't an isolated incident and perhaps an issue with the product?Erin P.Intergrain

Absolutely a shocking product
Have posted a negative review before and was contacted by manufacturer. Had talk with a product officer concerning the the 4 months it took to for the deck to look like crap. He suggested putting 3 coats instead of 2. So, this time on the 20th December 19 I cleaned deck with pressure cleaner then used reviva to rejuvenate the timber then put 3 coats of Intergrain natural oil down. Was nice and shiny but tacky so i let it cure in nice hot sun for 2 weeks before walking on it.

Great product !! Best choice for deck stain
At front of my house i have steps made of merbau where the person who did this job use nasty oil to stain them and it looks so dry and flaky .. Last week at bunnings there were cabots decking experts and the lady there guided me on what should i do to clean n then stain it. She highly recommended on Intergrain ultra deck due to its logetivity and color which i was looking .. i did clean with intergrain untra clean, then pressure wash it after 30 mins and then did first stain a day later. Did 2nd coat the morning after 1st stain. It turned out to be the best choice so happy and highly recommended product

Worst stain I have ever used
I am absolutely shattered after using this product. The time and effort I put into my project only to have it destroyed by using this product has disappointed to to a point where words cant describe.
I have used every stain there is available in the past and I can assure you this is the worst product available on the market right now. In my honest opinion it should be removed from being sold.
On top of that to think that i paid a premium to buy this product over other much cheaper/better products available.
Very very disappointed.

Best Decking finish
I have used a few different decking oils over the years and this product is easily the best I have used.
Looks great, and longevity is about twice that of some comparable products. Relatively easy to use with a conveniently short re-coat time. I also like that it is water based.

Great product for outdoor timber.
Great product for outdoor timber. I have used for several years on outdoor spotted gum timber and it lasts really well. We are in Brisbane and it cops full sun for most of the day. Best product I have used. Would highly recommend. Re coat easily after 4 hours. Maintains timber colour over the long term and doesn’t go dark or black like a lot of cheaper products

The best in this space
I'm a materials engineer and have nothing to do with paint but I do have a wooden house in coastal nsw. The finish and longevity of this product on Silvertop Ash, LOSP treated pine and merbau exceed Cabots and way exceeds British Paints deck oil. It's worth the extra money in my opinion even though for 10L you need a small loan.

Check your moisture content of timber !
I noticed all the negative comments were bought from Bunnings ... was your timber also ? Often finish inconsistencies can be from timber brought in from a different region with entirely different moisture content ... something no one that works in the big green shed would have a clue about that can leech out after laying this will impact your finish

Good Stuff!!!
I don't doubt that some people have had serious issues with the product, but I've never had a problem with Intergrain. I sand and re-coat my deck every ten years whether it needs it or not, and despite the harsh north queensland weather, the spotted gum still looks as good as new. The ultradeck (merbau, in my case) goes on a bit dark, which is disconcerting at first, but then it dries much lighter and very pretty. The trick is to put it on in three or four very thin layers; dont slosh it on.

Questions & Answers

If I have some left over Reviva and some leftover Ultradeck from about 1.5 years ago, can I use both up and combine with recently purchased Ultraprep and then Ultradeck Timber Oil?
That is, can I blend together?
Lyle B.asked
Hi, is there a time limit between applying coats? I've just applied a second coat to a large deck and am wanting to apply a third for extra protection and longevity, however weather apps are telling me we are about to get a week or more of rain. Will there be an issue with applying the third coat such a long time after the second?
Thanks

Lyle,
From my experience no problem at all in waiting a week or more to apply third coat. Would just wipe deck down with a damp cloth to ensure free of dust etc.
Grayasked
Hi,
We have put down a kwila deck, used powerprep and reviva and put one coat of the intergrain decking oil natural down using a wool pad on a medium temperature day (20c).
The deck looks good but when the morning sun hits, it glistens in the same way a piece of wood does when a snail has been across it, looking almost like a glue. I also oiled some kwila boards in the garage with two coats under perfect conditions and the same thing happens when the sun is on it. Tried three coats and the same thing.
I suspect it is the grain of the kwila traps the product, will this eventually dull or is their anything that will lessen this. I did start to sand the deck to see if I could get it any smoother than that will be over a days work and I don’t want to do that on a large deck.
I went to Bunnings and the display piece also does this if you shine a light from your i-phone on it, staff member done the same thing on the perfectly smooth piece of wood, so sanding wont work.

Erin P.Intergrain
Hi Gray, if you'd like a more Matt sheen we would recommend using Intergrain Slip Resistant for your next coat and that will dull the shine. Alternatively you can measure out and add Intergrain UltraGrip to the product you have left. Slip Resistant has the same long lasting formula as UltraDeck so the colour will be the same however because of the pre-mixed UltraGrip it will not have that same shiny look when the sun hits it.
