Hi, I have bought an intex pool for my little child recently. the place it has been set up is great and leveled but there is a concern; it is under direct sunlight and in summer it's really hot at noon and afternoon (around 40 c). is it safe?

I think I already know the answer but trying to avoid draining the pool. My son ‘surprised’ me And set the pool up for me with the plugs in place and sit at the filter system. Can I add the filter system without draining the water?

I just bought an easy set intex pool 15 x 42. my husband has health problems and my son works long hours. I am not able to dig to level the ground. we have some square paver stones set up for a patio. I have ground cloth and my husband wants to know if we could put more sand on it or buy a heavy duty tarp to put the pool on.

We purchased a 15 by 30 round Intex quick set pool. Can we leave this pull up during the winter months? And what is the procedure to winterize it?

To be honest with you, you can leave it up if it doesn’t get below 32 degrees C but if something goes wrong they will not cover replacing it. I left mine up and did everything they recommend but they would not replace. So my advise is to take down every year so you won’t have problems with hardware or pump.

I brought a 12 ft intex pool 3 weeks ago from Toys r us. It worked beautiful for 3 weeks. I go to turn the pump on yesterday, nothing. Who is responsible for a replacement pump? I have dealt with intex pools since the 1990s the first pump worked for years. These cheap and nasty pumps keep breaking there impeller shafts and the impeller itself rusts out.

Sorry - cannot help you. As you say - the stuff is junk. You CANNOT get spare parts or extras for these pools - Intex or Bestway. In fact, I am pretty sure they are just dumping stuff in Australia - too bad if we can't get service or spare parts. Pool service company's refuse to work on them. All I can say is replace the filter - it may just be clogged up. I have also noticed that the filters used to be good quality and last a few months. Ones now are like tissue paper and last a week. So that is $7 each week again. I am literally waiting for all my pool stuff to run out - and then I will ne slashing it and taking to the tip where they all belong. Makes me bloody angry as I went to all the cost of getting a council regulation fence installed, etc at cost of nearly $4,000. These pools are rubbish.

I went back to Toys r us. They gave me another pump. They honoured their warranty.Unfortunately Intex main office is very hard to find here in Australia. You would think they would have an Australian Head office.

With the round pools with the top inflatable ring, where are the advertised dimensions taken? Inside the inflated ring, outside the inflated ring or at the base of the pool?

Thanks,

Hi - if it says is 48 inches deep - take off at least 10' for the top ring, and to water level. NONE of the brochures state this. I really don't know how they got a figure of 48". Water depth is much less than this.

Base of the pool is the measurement. So the actual width of the swimmable area is less. Certainly not anything to be concerned about though we definitely found the 2.4m pool to be too small as the actual usable width is closer to 2m.

We just got the 3m metal frame pool and it feels considerably bigger as the width is a true 3m. It's massive! I would even consider the 2.4m metal frame pool considering how different in size it is to the blow up.

Long story short - make sure your base area where you'll position the pool is 3m plus (as an example for the 3m) - the plus being you need room to get around it. But don't be too concerned about the reduced width on the interior as it's negligible.

Can it be stay under sun?

yes, but keep a close eye on your chemical levels. The sun will soak up any chlorine faster than in shade and if not looked after you have slimy lining in no time. Keep on top of your chemicals and you'll have no problems with it in direct sun all day.

How long a day should the pump be left on?

Hi Sarah, Probably really depends on use and your local conditions. I tend to just turn it on when I am in the pool. I generally add chlorine after a swim when it is required and if i know noone will be getting in instantly, so i usually leave the pump on for 30mins to an hour after popping that in. If not in use, then i'll just pop the filter on for 30 mins or so of a morning and 10-15 mins at night and also jump in and walk around stirring it up. Seems to do the job for me and stops the water settling for too long and inviting mozzies and slime which can appear pretty quick.

My pool didn't come with a pump and filter, do I need one?

YES unless you set it up, then drain it and take it down in a week you will need a filter cartridge pump system. You can order one from Clark Rubber online here in Australia or go to one of the stores. Also suggest a cover to keep the bugs, gecko poo and litter out. I have the solar cover and well worth it, also keeps the chlorine from being eaten up by the sun when not in use and helps keep it warmer. One of the biggest comments is the Intex pumps are under matched sized L/hr. Look at turn over rates, should pump the full volume of the pool in less than 3 hours if possible. Also put the pump on an auto timer to pump for the minimum number of hours/day or more, will depend on use and individual conditions. Best to stir up what has settled on the bottom just before the pump starts or during pumping with a poll dedicated soft broom . When in use I check pool chemistry regularly and break chlorinate weekly along with replacing the filter cartridge with a washed dry filter and tip out the pump casing water till clear before break chlorinating. My experience with what has worked for us. POND PUMP --Our Intex pump died so we put a good pond pump on the outlet side so the old pump now just acts as the filter system. Check filter cartridge when in use as well and rinse. I keep a few cartridges around and just replace with a rinsed clean one as needed. Always tip the cloudy water out of the filter housing.

Yes you can buy covers for the pool and I'm sure some pools come with them!! We had the 15" pool which didn't come with a cover!! We paid over $300 for the pool. I shouldn't have to buy a cover for something because it can't stand the sun :( it should come standard.

I ordered a Intex solar cover from Amazon, big round sheet of blue bubble wrap. Works great and well worth the money $18 + shipping. Can also find them at Clark Rubber.
