Scratches Hardwood Floors and DON'T BOTHER WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE
Since moving into our new house with hardwood floors we have seen huge scratches all over. We cleaned the whole machine (removing the wheel etc.) to make sure there was no sand/debris stuck in the wheel causing the scratches. We then tried it on a piece of flooring usually covered by a rug (so had no scratches) and it created circular and straight scratches. That's $8000 of flooring damaged by this machine! I am so upset especially after reading on the Roomba website that it is completely safe on hardwood floors before using it. Do not buy if y...Read more
ou have hardwood floors :( UPDATE: Customer Service is useless and delayed me for weeks only to tell me that they do not believe that the scratches are caused by the roomba (even though I have sent them photos where there are scratches the exact circumference of the back wheel). They then told me that if I would like to get it in for full assessment that it will cost $77 if it's found that it is not the cause. Clearly they are going to tell me it's not the cause as they are already saying this so I am not going to risk paying that. Do not buy!Purchased in April 2021 at The Good Guys for $499.00.

Brilliant Roomba 630
Love this cleaner. I have mostly tiles which it zips around on and always stops at the 2 sets of steps I have. I am always surprised when I see how much it has picked up. I just lift it down the steps to carpeted areas and leave it for 20 minutes to do its job. Have not had any issues with this cleaner so far. I did buy with extended product care due to ongoing issues I had with the Aldi version I had purchased previously (Aldi did give full refund).

Love it. Definitely time saver
Works well I totally love it. It’s definitely a time saver and cleans well. I would recommend this to everyone. Whether you have rugs or not. I happen to have both. I can’t find anything wrong with it. It also works well with your iPhone app. You can program and review history. It also updates for you

iRobot does not clean well due to very poor suction
I bought this iRobot thinking it will help pick up dirt and clean my floor. Especially since it has "Dirt detect" written on its box and this 3 stage patented cleaning method.
After two days of using it, I am disappointed at its inability to pick up dirt. It does a poor job at it. I then investigated and learned that it has poor suction, I tried reading about its specs. I found nothing indicated about its suction power, a key feature of vacuum cleaners you would think that should be made known to buyers and consumers. There was nothing p...Read more

Fantastic small vaccuum cleaner
I regularly use or Roomba for hard for vaccuuming. I do find that it isn't fantastic for large areas but you can section areas off for it to clean.
The last sensors work well and last a long time.
The dust is easy to empty straight into the bin. It does have a problem getting hair tangled in the brushes.
I have used it on carpet but I much prefer my Miele for this.

Absolutely love it
I love this vacuum, I use it nearly every day. I love tipping out all the dirt it has picked up, very satisfying to see. It's dirt that would normally be on my floor, I used to vacuum weekly now it's every couple of days, with 4 kids makes my life so much easier, and the house is so much cleaner!

This Is Not A Toy.
I bought this unit about two and a half years ago with low expectations. It looked like a kid's toy that maybe could pick up some crumbs. Well I was wrong. This thing picks up just about every thing on the surface of my carpets, leaving them looking like I've run a full sized vacuum over them. Of course it isn't powerful enough to suck the crud from deep down inside the carpets. For that I have a Vax which I reluctantly drag out every 6 months or so.
I can't see why you would need one of the expensive/complicated room mapping models when this...Read more

Great model
I bought a robot vacuum when they came out and it failed. With long hair and pets it got stuck on my hair missed corners etc. A friend bought this and said it was great. Despite cyniscim I asked at in jb hiFi about it. While more expensive models claimed to suck up more stuff the employee recommended the roombs range saying every brush was removable for cleaning and replacement at home. It does make noise like a vacuum so I turn it on when I go out. If it gets stuck on a cord etc it stops and I detangle and put it back on the charger. A review ...Read more
said this was annoying but I found it useful to know what it got stuck on. The best part was being able to take all the brushes out for cleaning. It's surprising how often you don't realise there's jam or a ribbon or something on the floor and it runs through it. Does corners well. I used to vacuum once a week and touch up the m a in wal kjways each day. Now i just vacuum once a week2 comments

Great machine, for the first month.
Cleaning wise it does a great job, however we rarely run it now as it never charges. When it returns to base station, it constantly adjusts its self because it can’t charge. This can go on for 20 minutes if we don’t intervene. Also the charging indicators are overly complicated so we have to resort to looking at the app to work out if it’s charging. The online help pages give you 5 different potential light sequences which is just a mess to try and understand. We have to intervene every time and place a bag underneath the back of it to tilt th...Read more
e front forward so it charges. If we place it on manually (without the bag or returning on its own), it can take 20 minutes of making tiny adjustments to its seating position on the terminals to get it to charge. We go through the maintenance schedule each time of cleaning the contacts but it doesn’t help. I would be a happy customer if it charged. Fatal design flaw.3 comments

Exceeded Our Expectations.
This is the first and only robo sweeper we have purchased about 2.5 years ago. We were a bit weary about the life span so we purchased an extended replacement warranty from the seller also. Haven't needed the warranty as it is still going strong, hardy build and does a good job. We use for tiles only.

Lasted >4 years
Battery life less now but can clean a whole room with one charge
Initially could do an hour or so, now perhaps 30mins
We've had it for 4 years now
Was handy for living in apartment and small spaces
But could usually clean a few rooms at a time with initially battery life.
Reasonable suction, good for hair
Not always predictable what's covered and not (especially on carpet).

If it dies, I'll be buying another
This is my second Roomba, and it performs very well as far as suction goes on both carpet and hard floors. I did notice that it has left a mark/removed paint around all walls and my fridges etc which I can't remove but have overcome this now by putting self adhesive floor protectors (the kind you stick to the bottom of chair legs) around the perimeter, being careful not to place any in places that would affect docking. Unlike my first Roomba, this one does have docking issues (from before adding the protectors) and often even manual docking won...Read more

‘Jerry’ our 630 is the best appliance I have in the house. Had him for about a year now and it’s still going strong. I was so surprised when I first used it on carpet and saw how much dust and pet hair it actually picked up that my Electrolux regular vaccum missed. I now vaccum once a week if that and I own 3 cats

Does a great job
Great for the price. Does a good job on carpets as well. The suction/cleaning is so efficient I have to empty it on numerous occasions in the one battery run. I close doors so it ‘Harry’ does one room at a time. Quite loud so we put Harry on when we go out for our morning coffee etc. I like how he makes his way back to his charger when battery going flat.

4 years of excellent service
We love our Roomba.
The house we currently own is tiled through-out, the Roomba is perfect for it. Our previous house was all floating floors and it was perfect there too. We have cats and it catches all their loose fur. Thanks to the Roomba the entire place gets vacuumed weekly for a time cost to me of about 20-30min in total.
When we first got our 630 i ran a test where i vacuumed our bedroom with the Dyson, then i ran the Roomba - the Roomba was able to clean some stuff the Dyson missed. We then did the reverse (Roomba then Dyson) in ...Read more
another room and the Dyson picked up nothing extra. Soon after this we sold our Dyson and have only used the Roomba since. One thing that might be a negative for people is that you need to clear up a room before you vacuum it, but we find that this just encourages us to keep the room as clutter-free as our 2 year-old will allow. To be honest the time i take to move a few things off the floor and check that no spare wires are hanging out is MUCH less than the time it would take to vacuum with a normal machine. The 2 things i am not so much a fan of are: 1. The 'auto-docking' is pretty useless IMHO. The dock skids across the floor and if you have a big house then you need to move it from room to room anyway... we just plug it in directly and ditched the auto-dock1 comment

Set And Forget
This thing terrifies the cat but apart from that it is great.
I often forget we even own it and will see it going past the doorway going about its business.
We only use it in the lounge dining area with floorboards because that's where it does the best work. Of course its made for carpet too but you have to empty it way to ofet and it does a really good job on floorboards.
You still need to vacuum as always especially skirting areas but this does a great job of picking up crumbs and general everyday sprucing up.
Emptying out the dust is very easy and the construction quality is good.
Still use it all the time two years later so its definitely a good machine

Good, but you have to move a lot of stuff out of the way
We bought the Roomba because we have two young, messy kids. Handheld vacuuming each night was getting annoying, so we thought we'll get this, turn it on when we go to bed (or when we go out) and be done with it.
It generally works well for smaller stuff. We had a flour spill one day and it was not particularly good at getting that up, but it works well on general food crumbs and the like. Also great for pet hair.
It doesn't get everything first pass. We've learned to just leave it and let it do its thing until the battery runs out.

ause our kids are young, we can't just keep the charging station in a corner and let the Roomba go back to it. We need to charge it in a room they can't access, bring it into the room that needs vacuuming, and then pick it up and take it back for a charge when done. A small thing to worry about, really, but it does mean we miss out on that functionality. It can't sweep well under the table and chairs, because it can't fit between all of the legs. We need to pick the chairs up and put them on the table, which means the table needs to be clear. Often our table isn't clear, so that's a bit of extra work for us. And of course we need to clean up the toys.1 comment

How does this model work with an app, didn’t think that was an option.

Not sure with 630 as I bought the 670, with 670 it’s basically just to activate the clean button, pause and send home. Always help with notifications if there’s error or roomba needed help. If you get the higher range, I think you can navigate or set up cleaning area and schedules. Hope it helps. ;)
Thanks

I purchased this machine in January 2014. I am wondering if I need a new battery as it only runs for about 10 mins before saying "recharge"

Good Morning Bev D,
Based on the age of the Roomba, and it only running for a short time, I would be recommending replacing the battery.
To be a 100% sure, you can remove the charging cable from the home base and plug this directly into the Roomba. if you find you are still only getting 10 minutes, the battery is defiantly the issue. These can be purchased from our online store www.shopirobot.com.au or by contacting our office on 1300 727 421.

Thank you Rebecca, I will be ordering a new battery
