Brings a smile to my face
Purchased this car with a view to towing a van in a couple of years. I am a car nut and did a lot of research and realised that the Isuzu is not high tech or rated the best in class but the pricing and reputation for reliability interested me. This is to be a 10 year car. A test drive convinced me, the driving experience, a bit like a comfortable Massey Ferguson tractor, put a smile on my face. e cruising, even with AT tires I had fitted. I love the understressed nature of it, Negatives: a bit noisy around town, low tech stereo, a bit of body roll, small fuel tank. Positives:ARB long range tank $1300 is a good accessory, cruises easily, economical, ride quality, good sound quality from stereo, long warranty, price (haggle) ......hopefully reliability, so far so good...Purchased in November 2021.

Excellent Vehicle
Two years after purchasing new, the MUX is performing as expected with no problems experienced and just scheduled services. Used for long distant drives as well as around the paddocks towing a trailer. Sometimes pulls a caravan when needed for holidays.
Very comfortable on the open road and economical averaging 9 litres per 100km and 12 when towing.
Replaced my isuzu ute based on its own reliabilty over 320,000 kms with this MUX and very happy i did.
Purchased in September 2021 at Cardiff Isuzu Ute.

I've grown to love this noisy beastie that can tow houses up mountains!
Besides for being a little noisy, the engine in this vehicle is phenomenal. I tow a Majestic Knight SLE (20'6") packed up to almost 3.0 ton with very little effort. Fuel consumption towing (about 13 l/100) is equivalent to many vehicles unladen effort! With the updated interiors, the feeling of being in a much more expensive vehicle cannot be passed by. Our MU-X has just turned one years old, and every indication is that it'll still be with our family for many, many years to come. Zero problems or issues to date.
Purchased in September 2021 for $44,000.00.

Great car at a reasonable price.
After much research on medium sized SUVs capable of towing a medium sized Caravan we settled on the Isuzu Mu-x. We were set on the Toyota Prado but found that we couldn't justify the extra $20k when the Mu-x had everything we wanted. We've only had it for 2 weeks and are yet to tow anything but we are happy with the car. Yes it sounds like a ute to drive but we don't mind this as it's only noticable driving around town and we do most our driving on a highway.
Our must haves were 3lt turbo diesel engine, 3t towing capacity and seats that folded down flat so you can sleep comfortably in the rear of the car. We got them all and more.

* km left until i have to fuel up
changes dramatically
e.g 1 minute i might have 500km left
it changes to 600 then 300km
*usb mp3 music going blank and screeching after half hr
* car pulling to right

If you believe it is both common courtesy and professional not to forget a customer after the contract has been signed and vehicle delivered then you should find Ferntree Gully Isuzu to be very courteous and professional as I have to date.

clunky” compared to more modern systems on far more expensive vehicles. However, it does the job as well as Google maps from my observations to date. Fuel economy is great and the vehicle has achieved about 7.5 litres per 100km on a mix of country, freeway, off the black top, suburban, and peak hour grind for the first 7000 km. It had a bull bar, tow bar, and snorkel fitted prior to delivery. I have not yet needed to engage 4WD high or low yet which would no doubt affect fuel consumption. The DPF cleans itself without fuss every 500 plus km and the process takes less than 10 minutes regardless of speed / driving conditions from my experience. Potential buyers would be well advised to read what some Toyota owners are saying about their experiences with DPF self cleaning / regeneration on this website and more concerning, the Toyota response, or lack thereof. I would also recommend you do your research on “Ad blue” before you buy a vehicle using that. Sales staff do not mention it all while you are researching what vehicle is best for you.Similar opinion? For a new car, no problems
I picked up my new Isuzu MU-X, LS-U on the 09 September 2017. The car has already traveled 9,106 kilometers. Been from Gympie to Longreach and back plus all places in between then, from Gympie to Kuranda and back and all places in between. The 3 liter diesel in combination with the Aisin six speed electronic automatic transmission is a magic matching. I can sit on the freeway doing 110k's in sixth gear and the engine is doing 1,700 r.p.m. At this time I cannot fault it, will see how it is in 100,000 k's or so.

already! The MU-X has now done just over 18,000 klms, amazing. I am waiting for some kind of problem to arise, but nothing. I was told that every new car has some sort of issue, that is why, in the past, I have always bought cars that have down enough kilometres to have the bugs worked out of them well, in this case, that principle has been well and truly debunked. I suppose, if you could call the rubber over the contact switch that turns off the rear interior light falling off a problem then, I have had a problem but, something which took a Phillips screwdriver and about two minutes of my time to fix, in my estimation, could hardly be referred as a problem. Well done Isuzu. Truthfully, I cannot find one thing to grumble about and believe me when I say, I AM LOOKING!! Running costs, tick. Legroom. tick. Handling, tick. Five Star ANCAP rating, tick. Price, trick. Creature comforts, tick. Even the Ministry for War, Treasury and Finance (my wife and life long friend), is still happy with THE TRUCK!!! See you in another 10,000 k's or so, until then we are off exploring, I love this sunburnt country, Well, here we are again, 32,000 Kilometres are up, heading for the $400.00 40,000 klms service. No problems with the car but, I am feeling that I have been conned by the dealership. Had to have a wheel alignment done at fifteen thousand k's. The guys at the tyre shop just grinned and said; "if I had a dollar for every wheel alignment I have had to do on a new car, I would be a millionaire, the dealership, no matter what they say they do not do them." Of course, when I asked the dealership, vehement denials, "of course we do a wheel alignment!" Who do you believe? Bit sus, wheel alignment at 15,000 and 30,000 klms. What about the front wheel bearings being repacked at 30,000 klms, I drove my Toyota Avalon for 100,000 klms and never had the front wheeel bearings repacked! Once again sus! The vehicle itself is no problem at all, just the service department, once I have the 40,000 klm service done I do not think I will be returning to the dealership. Here we are, just paid the rego and insurance on the truck, burnt a hole in me pocket it did. Never mind grasshopper, things will be okay. Havn't been anywhere of late, rebellion on the part of she that must be obeyed, fortunately, other half can see what I am typing. 38.000 and a bit k's, no real problems. Tyres are showing wear a bit to quickly for my liking will replace them with Coopers when there gone, never did like Dunlops. At 186cms I am finding that if I come at the truck from the side I bash my head on the tailgate, alright if I approach the rear open door from the centre, maybe a little more clearance wouldn't go astray, minor niggle.1 comment

0. Am finding my choice of colour, Havana Brown mica, a bit of a fizzer. The paint seems to have a whitish undercoat, with a result, it shows even the smallest of scratches or stone chips. White under brown, not a good idea. If you are as pedantic as I am, I would advise you to stay away from the darker colours. As everything wears in a bit, THE TRUCK, seems to be becoming an even better performer, sounds like a tractor when the engine is cold but, when it warms up it settles down. I drive by ear, and I do not mind a bit of engine noise as it tells me what is going on. My wife gets annoyed when I say, "what's rattling", as she has to find it and quiten it. I am not noted for having a light foot, the service report from the dealer recomended, upon questioning the cars computer, and I quote "it is advised that to obtain better fuel economy you refrain from accelerating so heavily" unqoute. Maybe I will follow their advice. I am averaging 10.2 litres of fuel per 100 klms but, that is with the climate control set to 23 degrees and on at all times, in the heat we have been having, you would fry otherwise. In the old scale that is 27.69 miles per gallon, I've driven Holden Kingswood's that did worse than that. I had an Austin Freeway 6 cylinder Automatic that on its best day did 17 miles per gallon so, all in all, as far as I am concerned, not bad at all. Am also finding the rear cargo cover to be finicky and not worth the effort, it now resides in the shed. Not having the dealer fit a towbar pre-delivery was another mistake, also, the rear power outlet had to be upgraded with heavier wiring to handle the fridge, freezer I bought, also fitted a relay so that the fridge did not run with the ignition turned off. Would advise an upgrade to this power outlet if you are going to run a fridge for any length of time. Apart from that as happy as Larry with my MU-X, well done Isuzu, but I suppose that is to be expected as Isuzu's have been Holdens in many different guises, starting with the Holden Gemini, then the Rodeo and even most Colorado's.
