Jayco poor after sales service
My wife and I purchased a new Jayco Journey approximately 3 years ago. Due to work commitments over those 3 years we have only used the caravan for one whole week and two weekends. The last time we used the van three of the cupboard door handles broke. (Note: We are not rough people) I looked on the web and found that a lot of people were complaining about the same thing. I contacted Jayco Caravan land in Perth and was told that the handles were $19.90 ea and are now made of metal because the old plastic ones broke. So to replace the whole lot ...Read more
in the van would be around $200. I contacted Jayco Caravan Land again and asked if they could do anything, I was not asking it to be free but as the original handles were obviously defective they could give me a discount or something. She said no but gave me the Jayco Customer Care number. I rang the number and stayed calm and asked the same question. The lady from customer care told me me that for a period of time Jayco was replacing the handles under warranty but now that time had passed and I would have to pay for them. I told her that my wife and I had hardly used the van and she said that's our problem! it got a bit heated then as I told her that the handles were obviously junk as they would not have replaced them before. She then hung up on me!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Well i came away depressed and some of the complaints are righteous in their content. But good god do you people not own some duck tape and a drill, are you not from Australia where the roads are covered with kangaroo crap a wombat crap then baked by a blistering sun. The roads are hard and crap brakes. That doesn't excuse annoying poor workmanship or crap parts or poor service but come on aussies get with the game fix it or live in a house and don't tell me they don't have problems. ld, oh Bert theres dust all over everything hence we get adds for dusters doh People if you have a problem hook in and have a crack its half the fun. We had our push out bed explode in the middle of the night while i was having a kidney stone attempt to assassinate me, and believe me it was trying like a one armed wall paper hanger. So the bed see, decides it don't quite like the fact that we been sittin up near the hinges which we find out are made from soft aluminium. They sang a little tune sort like a squirrel being choked and then gave way to gravity and some resoundingly strong struts. The bed did a sort of right angled failed to give way turn and headed into the kitchen. The side of the bed also collapsed due in part to the Jayco tech only using a thin layer of the chewing gum he had at hand at the time. I replaced his gum with some angle brackets from an old ww2 tank and great very solid. After replacing the brackets with some stainless steel ones job was done. Did i ring jayco ha like hell i did we just fixed it with a bit of macgyvering. Then some hinges fell of the cupboards and the shower leaks somewhere and now my hot water won't get hot. But crap happens and i will fix it not because i know how but i will have a crack then watch youtube oh and i don't get dust in the van cause i know a secret that has been passed down from a Himalayan monk of the satin scarf of the divine level of seven from nine and it is ......... sorry they wont let me put in any more words there seems to be a limit to the amount of words i can...... 2019 Jayco Journey 19.6 van
Purchased in November from Jayco Bundaberg. It is our second Jayco and 3rd van. The van tows well and we have lived in it for 3 weeks straight so far. A couple of minor issues - front water tank leaked from new, but was easily fixed with refitting the water level sensor, and the little mesh gadget over the water inlet breather was missing. Jayco were prepared to replace the tank, but repaired it easily myself. Everything just works, but the fridge took a bit of working out - it is an 2 door auto Thetford. The built in wifi is great, and ...Read more
the electronic monitoring is handy. The shower base feels a bit funny as it flexes, but seems to be the thickness of the shower base not a structural problem. We are caught up in the Suburban hot water system debacle, but you cannot blame Jayco for that. Frustrating though - cannot use it on gas and the communication from Coast to Coast who are responsible for sorting it is abysmal. We believed that a bit more working out re cupboards when manufactured would have resulted in a better set out. For instance, the Circuit breaker, the wifi router and the power panel are all in different cupboards whereas could easily be fitted to one overhead cupboard leaving the others completely usable with our gear. These niggles are quite insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Love the overall layout, the roomy ensuite, and the washing machine is a fantastic addition. All in all, we are quite happy with our purchase of the Jayco and would particularly recommend both the an and the service from Warburtons Jayco Bundaberg

New Jayco silverline is great.
Purchased our new 21.6 Silverline from Prestige Jayco Geelong in November and could not be happier. Been up as far as Canberra and back for 3 weeks without any major hassles. Probably the best van I have ever towed behind the BT50, they have certainly improved the aerodynamics, it doesn't move. I even returned 16.8 ltrs per hundred, rapped.

Jayco is rubbish! Avoid Jayco!
We brought a brand new 20.5ft outback Sterling Jayco Caravan 2013. We have used it on 3 small trips and had nothing but issues. The Aircon stopped working, it leaked, the hot water fused out and caught fire (so lucky we didn’t find it burnt to ground) lights in shower stopped working, toilet leaked, shower leaked and the materials used throughout are poor quality. It has cost us thousands of $$$$ in replacing and fixing. DO NOT PURCHASE A JAYCO! they are total rubbish!

Workmanship
I own a 2012 StarCraft which I purchased 18 months ago. It was in very good condition from a dealer. The first issue was a flexing ensuite floor. There is a larger gap between bearers in this floor section so someone had glued a piece of plywood which had come away and was hanging by water pipes and other cabling. I removed it and had to install an additional bearer to get rid of flex. The latest issue is a leaking rear water tank. On removing the tank I found that when van manufactured that screws were protruding through the floor and th...Read more
e tips of these screws had punctured the tank. Also on inspection there are holes for 4 brackets to support water tanks but on both there is only 3 brackets. There are screw tips protruding through floor in other areas, I am waiting to see if the front tank starts to leak. Regards Howard smithSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Poor Workmanship at Jayco Darwin
Inlaws got a awning fitted during their trip and drilled holes in wrong uneven places. they also got a new toilet fitted and instead of using the supplied brackets and seal decided to screw into floor and use silicon. When contacted refused to admit any fault even after taking it to another dealer to get fixed and getting asked where the brackets where and new holes would have to be drilled in awning to correct faults

not fit for the purpose it was made for
we have just done our first trip with our 2018 Basestation with our Harley Davidson in the rear garage .which we were told it holds a weight of 600kilo,s The bike weighs 400kilos.. we tow with a 200serious Land Cruiser., the van is sitting level BUT we can not go a touch over 100ks as the van gets a sway up. The weight of the motor cycle is behind the rear axle which causes to much weight in rear of van. so the bottom line is Jayco need to rethink their design on their Basestation as it is down right dangerous. we will have to have fitted an ANDERSON. TOW SWAY HITCH to see have that can help. But were not told this important info on purchasing.

small problems
Bought 2014 Jayco Dove outback new at Brisbane show.
PROBLEM 1. The little doovers that hold the door to the roof have been replaced at least twice and are now in need of being replaced again. Also the door seems to hang down and does not look secure. It has fallen a few times during normal travel although no damage to the door.
PROBLEM 2 At this stage the van had never been on any dirt roads. I was reversing into a park at Windorah
and the child bride brought to my attention that the spare wheel was loose, and on examination it was only being ...Read more

Hot Water System
Really disappointed we have brought a new optimum motorhome last month .
the problem is with the instant hot water system (Suburban Storage hot Water Heater) it takes nearly 15 litres of water before it is hot.

Brakes are a lemon
I have had trouble with my Jaysc Swift Brakes from very early on, reported to service but they have no written evidence therefore it didn't happen. I am now out of the warranty period and have been told to sort it myself at my own cost as it must be the controller, go to an auto electrician. Non existant service, what a shame. Am selling my Swift once it is fixed.

Great experience with Jayco Eagle Outback.
We bought our Jayco Eagle Outback from Warburtons Caravans in Bundaberg in July 2013. Warburtons, as it was then, were a pleasure to deal with and very helpful. It was fitted with a lot of options specified by us, which included 2 gas bottles, 2 water tanks, hot water system, shower, Tv and sound system. We took this unit across what we call the worst roads in Australia. We travelled over the Donohue, Plenty, Tanami, the road to Cape Leveque, Gibb river Road, Cape York to Punsand Bay, as well as local trips. Did we have any problems? Well of co...Read more
urse we did, but nothing compared to what the doom sayers were saying after we bought it and also compared to some other big brand/big dollar units as well as some cheap Imported units which we saw on our trips. After I fitted some truck mudflaps under the trailer chassis to protect brake wiring and plumbing we had no further issues. Biggest problem is damage under the trailer from flying rocks, these mudflaps stop that issue. The only other real annoyance was dust ingress, we covered the vents which cured most of this but not all. I would be extremely surprised if any manufacturer, without aftermarket modifications is trully dustproof. Would I buy another? Hell yes I would, in fact looking at buying one in the not too distant future.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Jayco Journey 16ft
I just bought a new 2018 Journey Outback single axle . Was going great until I took it on a gravel road. Most of drawer fixings have pulled off and an overhead cupboard has nearly fallen off. It was only then that I noticed how inferior the cabinet work was. The most dissapointing thing was the dust entry into all the cupboards.Which ruined our trip.
I have just done a 200km round trip to get the work done under warranty and they just slapped a bit of silicone around and put a couple of bigger screws in. Hence I dont have much faith the dust ...Read more

Onto our 4th van and still happy
We’ve just ordered our 4th Jayco through grant at page bros in Seaford and I’m excited!
They are a great value for money. Yes they have teething issues due to mass production but we’ve never had an issue getting them fixed when needed. I don’t think you’d be able to get a van without any problems. It’s part of the process! Their service team go above and beyond and issues are fixed quick smart!
We’ve loved Jayco a since we bought our first 5 years ago and will be life long customers.

2017 Jayco Starcraft poptop Outback.
I won't put in here the issues we have during handover when we ordered this van new. First major trip with this van July 2022.
Gas tank welding to A frame cracked.
Microwave ended up falling out.
Aircon dislodged from it's supposed bracket. (Piece of poly pipe was all that was holding it in place)
Pelmets and curtains fell off.
Screws holding sides of van to chassis come loose. I had to tighten these up.
Don't get me started on the dust coming into the van.
Fridge has stopped working on 240v
Quality of this van and attention to detail is shocking.

Jayco 20.5 freedom motorhome reviews anyone

netteasked
Just bought a new 2022 Jayco journey in March got it home and noticed all the silicone seal has come away from the door after seeing another of the same model realised our stopper is right next to the door. On opening the door and putting latch on to hold open it is separating door from van. Can't get in till may to have it assessed. So we have a new van that can't be used till who knows when poor workmanship can't see what other problems there may be because we can't take it out as water will get in the split seals. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem or know how they will be able to fix it.?

I have a Jayco 21 foot conquest RV when the aircon is on Water is dripping out the end of the awning the end with the motor I take it this is not right how do I fix
Thanks Trevor

Your aircon has a water outlet pipe on the roof, it is normal that it drips off the roof. Make sure your van is level and if you are concerned have it slightly up on the awning side by driving your wheels onto some bits of timber.
