Why can we not have water!
Purchased our Hawk from dealer (used) and took it away. Plugged the hose in only to find a fountain spurting out the connection. Easy fix? We though so as we purchased a Jayco hose connection. Away we went. Next time...another trip with same problems with NO RUNNING WATER !. Back to Jayco and purchased complete new fittings. Now I've been away for 3 months in it with NO WATER. Jayco...not worth a u know what of cold water!

Things To Check Before You Buy a Jayco Dove
The Jayco Dove Outback we bought in 2014 had multiple problems. The most serious of these was leakage of flue gas from the fridge into the van. There were also a number of design and quality control issues, which are outlined in detail further in this review.
If it were not for these issues we would be able to recommend the Dove. It is a good size for either a couple on their own, or for a couple with two young children. It is relatively quick and easy to erect and take down, although in this regard someone without children might also consid...Read more
er the Penguin as a simpler alternative. The Dove is also lightweight and easy to tow. Buy a Dove if it fits your needs. But do ensure that you check it over thoroughly before accepting delivery, and in particular check the fridge. Ensure you give the camper as much use as you can early in the warranty period to flush out problems for your dealer to fix. Buying Our Dove We ordered our new Jayco Dove Outback at the Melbourne Show in 2014, and collected it several months later. As we live in Tasmania our journey home involved an overnight ferry trip and several hours towing before we arrived back at our home.

Great design below average construction.
Fantastic little van/bed on wheels.
Light easy to tow
The tent section is easy to install with decent quality parts used.
The finish on the jpod itself is rough and crude. Excessive amounts of silicon used to fill gaps in the floor and joins.
Seals around doors are average. And don't keep the unit water tight at all.
The boot space is good size.
Watch out for the number plate lights as a slight knock and they break off (cheap design)
Update:
Things to watch..
Hinges on rear have pins drop out.

Extremely disappointing Jayco Flamingo.
Again our door frame has cracked and become unattached. The door is now only held up by Velcro, this is the second time this has occurred. The plastic cannot withstand the ups and downs of the highway. We have also had the Perspex pop out twice, the plastic exterior door latch broke and I had to replace with metal. We have a draw that continually falls out, another draw that is lose and the screws holding the microwave secure have let go. Flimsy plastics cannot stand up to everyday use and workmanship on cupboards is questionable....we are very disappointed as we have had 2 previous Jayco that were great....but we won't be buying again as we are sick of the issues every time we take it on a trip.

Love our Jayco Hawk
We purchased our Jayco Hawk Outback in Nov. 2015.
We love our camper. Easy to tow. Set up takes around 15mins. Roomy, with plenty seating. For the price it is excellent value.

Top of the range but don't look too close
An August delivery 2016 Jayco Swan Outback. After the major recall you would expect to see improvements in the build quality. Not so. Screws sticking through the bottom of the van, self tappers used instead of bolts, back to service to have a drawer reinforced, lubricants slapped on haphazardly, rubble from the build not cleaned up and on and on. Don't be mislead by appearances. These units are a mass of very cheap components and in some areas inappropriate components. As the market leader expected a lot more from Jayco. No wonder the de...Read more
al was so good. Update ... top of door disconnected from roof with cheap aluminium pop rivers instead of steel, tyre wearing unevenly on one wheel ... balance issue not fixable, fridge fixed under warranty, roof corners splitting and fixed under warranty, multiple services for roof raising mechanism, bolts bending on bed slide, door lock an ongoing issue till it broke completely.Similar opinion? Great before buying a van
Did our apprenticeship in a soft floor before upgrading to the 2015 Eagle Outback. Half the set up time of a soft floor (approx 30 minutes if not using bed flyes) and a lot less physically demanding. Easy to tow and place and excellent ground clearance. Able to leave beds made even with a pillow top on the mattress. No leaks or water issues when bed flyes are out. Easy to clean and maintain. Small issues with curtain hooks and "U" weld detaching which were fixed by very good Townsville dealer. Roof is a little noisy under rain. Maintained value...Read more
well after 14 months of faithful service. If you don't treat it like an off-road soft floor camper, it's a great way to cut your teeth before moving to a van (towing, parking, placing, cleaning, stocking, equipment, knick knacks).Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Terribly made and still trying to talk with owner of company
I asked for a later built J pod but apparently Jayco decided to do one factory run in August. I had asked many times for personal reasons not to have the Jpod built in August. I had checked run number dates with Jayco but as the customer who cares about what the customer wants.
I was rushed through to pick up the Jpod and my daughter could not come with me so I was very tired as I had to also get a tow bar that same day put on my car. I had an assistance dog with me.
the Jpod is put together with something like putty and the size and gaps a...Read more

Survived Great Central Road with flying colours
I have just dragged my Swan Outback across the longest badly corrugated/washed-out road in Australia - "The Great Central Road" (and back - 2200km). The stone guard for the water tank is pretty trashed, but its sacrificial. No damage, no dust ingress - no dust on the canvas, on the beds etc. In my mind, the reports I've read that state that these camper trailers are no more robust than a caravan are completely dispelled - don't believe it. The "worst" that happened was that a kitchen drawer opened. Thankfully none of the tea-towels fell ou...Read more
t and my wife just made sure it was shut and locked properly next time. A few hints: tape your vents up with masking tape every day on the dirt road (and obviously take the tape off when you set up for the night). Don't exceed 60km/hr on rough sections where washouts and dips can catch you by surprise. Don't overload it, don't store anything on the floor when travelling (we have a roof pod that holds chairs and other bulky but lights bits), and put a stone deflector on the drawbar. Jayco, these should come with stone deflectors as standard. Warranty items are minimal: corner of laminex near stove is lifting a little. Otherwise, couldn't be happier.Similar opinion? Lousy after sales service
We booked months in advance to have work done to the roofing mechanism, (a manufacturer’s recall), on our Jayco Swift at Nowra RV Centre. Both at the time of booking and the day we left the camper with Nowra RV Centre at 8.45 am on 16 September 2016, I was assured that the work would be done the same day. However, they phoned me at midday to say it would in fact take until the next day. I phoned back early afternoon to say: forget the work, just put everything back in the camper and we’ll collect it and have the work done elsewhere, but when w...Read more
e came at the end of the day, our camper’s interior was in pieces and we were ‘cornered’ by them, forced to spend the night in Nowra with no camper. Moreover, they then said that they had never told us that the work would be completed in one day. We had booked a caravan park site for our stay, and had travelled from Sydney, where we live. We were left to find cabin/hotel accommodation at the last minute, with our dog to house: not easy. To make matters worse, on picking up the camper trailer next day, I was asked to sign that I had inspected the work and found it to my satisfaction. How can I, as an unqualified person with no experience in repairing camper trailers/caravans, judge the quality of the work on the roof mechanism? Naturally, I had to refuse to sign the document. We asked for reimbursement of the extra cost of accommodation, but I’m still waiting. Dealing with Nowra RV Centre, (which is part of Jayco Nowra), is full of incertitude. I wish you luck if you have to deal with them. I will not be going back there.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Rebuild and love it
Brought an old 1985 Jayco Dove Outback as a shell, Completely rebuilt it. New bed ends, new roof, new floor, re designed the inside to be more practical, New canvas. We absolutely love it. Jayco in Brisbane helped with all the parts and were a pleasure to deal with. I have read a lot of negative reviews about the newer Jayco's so i can't comment on them. All i know is the old girl we have is great. We sleep 6 in it quite comfortably. Shower, Potty, sink, pantry, club dinette. Lots of work and long hours in thought, but if your handy then you will really get a kick out of the rebuild.

Don't buy a Jayco!!!!
2 years of problems: 8 months in shop, problems included: 3 refrigerator repairs, microwave stopped working, 2 furnace repairs, water siphoning out of tank, LP gas leaks, slide out repair, cabinet doors fell off, shower door leaks, Velcro tears on all 6 couch/table cushions, inline fuses continually blowing, frame rusting, finish paneling detaching and several securing screws coming off because of no backing- long delays with repairs because of no parts availability.

Jayco eagle rubbish
Canvas leaks on bed ends wetting all bedding, leaks along all stitching holes despite being 'weathered' as instructed. Plastic parts are not uv stabilised so break within in 12 months.

Great towing van but not to inpressed with the quality
I bought a jayco swift brand new 2015. I received allot with the puchase and we were really inpressed with that. After the first camp I decided the manual sink pump is useless and installed a 12 volt pump. The doorlocks does not lock and open properly. I took it for the first free service but I was not happy with the way that has gone. I got the feeling that they were fully booked and did not have time to deal with the promissed free service. It got done. On our first camp after the service the bracket supporting the dubble bed gave way. I did...Read more
check maximum weight on the dubble bed was 350 kg. The bracket was pop riveted. The plywood moves allot too when someone is on the bed. I will be doing repairs myself. I am not too satisfied with the quality of Jayco swift. Apart from this the layout of the van is great, easy to tow, and easy to setup.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Love the Swan but the build quality is poor
We bought a new 2015 Jayco Swan Touring with the under slung axle. We love the camper but the build quality is poor and what one would normally equate with the cheaper end of Chinese manufacturing/assembly. From the start we have had problems with the roof not descending fully. It has been back to Jayco a number of times and is better now, but the door hinges will have to stay permanently bent (works fine, just looks a little crooked). I expect that we will have dust problems when we do more kilometres on dirt roads We have had screws come loo...Read more
se and one of the ceiling corner mouldings fell off as a result. We also have a minor water leak in one corner. As we wind up the roof it makes a worrying clunk and the front struts bend to the left when fully erected, so we will see what Jayco's response is when it goes in for another warranty visit. Also, the door doesn't stay in position when we are travelling, which requires replacement fasteners, a simple fix but it shouldn't be necessary. It appears that Jayco's QC is based on consumers using their warranty rather than proactive quality control management. Pity. Luckily, most things are easily fixed.Similar opinion? Very happy with my 2010 Jayco Outback Dove Great camper, excellent value for money.
Bought it in December 2015, we are the second owners. Had a 2005 Jayco OB Eagle previously so was unconcerned about the negative reviews, given our very happy experiences with the Eagle. We had youngish children back then but now on our own. Our Dove represents excellent value for money. It has a number of options that provide for more versatility, particularly for free camping. We have been in it on powered sites and free camping for three day weekends once a month and two, four - five day trips as well in this time. We have experienced great ...Read more
weather and terrible weather. We've had 40 deg days and negative 1 days. We have had beautiful sunshine and quite substantial rain, wind and storms. No leaks, no issues. It is not an expensive caravan/camper so you must compare apples with apples...BUT, the camper is sufficiently suspended to allow you access to most (not all) 'out of the way' locations, it is comfortable with necessary comforts, gives you a lovely combination of feeling like you are in a tent but off the ground, high, dry, secure and fairly spacious. You do have to pack sensibly, the fridge does need a fan to keep it cool, but it (and everything else) has worked every time and efficiently either on gas or 240 and maintains its cool when on 12V powered by my vehicle. Easy to tow, easy to park, fits in a standard garage keeping it out of the weather when not in use. Do yourself a favour, if you have old bulbs, change them to LED, get a Fiamma awning or similar. All in all our OB Dove's pluses far out way any negatives.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Recently purchased but recalled
I'm in the same boat. Purchased an eagle but can't take delivery due to the recall. I'm being told the parts are coming but who knows when they will actually arrive and if they are the right ones (recall 1 vs 2). So annoying! Totally taken the shine off getting my van.
